What, the Women's final? Yeah, I agree
Yep, and the men's too. Sure the quality was a lot higher and there were some terrific points, but the result was decided as soon as Gonzalez threw away those two set points. The second set was a contest for a while but Federer was always on top and it was a matter of time before he got the break. He won virtually every service game to love also. And then Gonzo had all but given up in the third; his body language was pathetic.

I can't believe all the whingers on here.

Why can't people just appreciate Federer's ability, instead of whining all the time?

Federer is the most dominant sportsman ever. He still has a long way to go before his career is up, too.

Yeah, I mean the commentators were calling Gonzalez a 'youngster'.

Hard to believe he is actually older than Fed.

Earlier I was switching between:
channel 7 - fed v gonz (tennis)
channel 9 - AUS v NZ (cricket)
fox sports 1 - RSA v PAK (cricket)
fox sports 2 - kings v tigers (NBL)
fox sports 3 - adelaide v victory (A-League)

I had the same dilemma.

Gonzo is a late bloomer. His new coach seeems to have done wonders to his game expecially consistency and shot selection at the right time. His backhand has improved and so has his serve. One of the most improved players on tour in the past year. He's number 5 in the world now... I genuinely believe he can be challenging for grand slams.. but will probably have to settle for runner up because of Federer.

Nadal is not a one surface wonder, Federer is a once in a lifetime player where as Nadal is simply a great player.

I think you are 99% right. Not quite 100% because I do question regarding Nadal as "Great". Great is Connors, Borg, Becker, Lendl. Nadal is not yet fit for that company. "Very good" is how to describe him.

He is not a one surface player. He reached the Wimbledon final and has beaten Roger Federer twice off clay. Of course he suffers in comparison to federer as an all court all surface player but as you say federer is a once in a generation sensation. An historic talent. just because Nadal can't match that does not demean him. He is a legitimate world number 2.

Nadal was a one surface wonder but has really stepped it up on hardcourts the past couple of seasons. He's at his most vulnerable on grass, but still a great player.

He made the Wimbledon final last year.

He's doing alright if he is making the final on his least favourite surface.
