We keep winning, and we are OK?

All in our little hands.
Well no, mathematically we can win every game and still finish 10th. Mathematically, we can lose 2 games and still come 6th. Hell, mathematically we can win 2 of our next 5, losing to Sydney, Brisbane and even St Kilda in the last round, and still finish 8th.

Champ, you're giving me the shits.

Reckon I saw one of the all time games last night, no doubt.

How 'bout you lean back and enjoy this fabulous game.

Do you get the impression I am sitting around worrying about these scenarios? I'm just statistically minded. Some like stats, some don't. If you want people to lean back and just enjoy the game, why is anybody posting on here?

Let's go with the last one and then we'll head to advanced hair...

Would be worth the laughs seeing the likes of Gold Coast and GWS beating our final 8 rivals in order for that last one to occur.

I even came up with a scenario whereby the Tigers still make the 8. 4 and a bit rounds is a long time. Very even season.

Something in the water of late. Way too much aggression around.

Reminds me of a theory I had at one point that aggression on the field is inverse to that off it. .. ie. Soccer is a soft game of pretending to be hurt and you get rabid fans. .. So maybe its Carlton's lack of aggression or perceived lack, is turning us feral. ..

Wow!! How ******* soft are the Tigers then????

Just done the ladder predictor and, optimistically gave us 5 wins. If everything else fell into place we would finish 7th a game clear of W/C and Freo with an inferior % to both.

I've always thought that 13 wins would make the finals and this may still be true but our % is so poor (even allowing for a 100 point win against GS) that I now think it won't be enough for us.

Lose today and we are effectively 3 games out and I seriously doubt we can pick that up over 4 games so might as well try everyone on the list from here if that happens.

Absolute must win today.

we win today and its on for young and old.going into the last 3 weeks we have a fresh judd simpson walker and robbo plus murphy and carrazzo have had shorter seasons.win today and next week and we will have our strongest side in months(barring no more injuries)and that all equates to finals, but today is the key to salvaging the whole season

After the loss today my immediate thought was it is now very unlikely we can make finals. However, do the ladder predictor, assume we win comfortably against the 2 QLD teams and just beat Essendon and StKilda and its pretty hard for us not to make finals. We would finish on 52.

The teams directly above us have to play each other or have very tough runs home playing top sides.

Saints have a similar run to us, playing GC and GWS but also us and Geelong. If they lose to us and Cats.... they finish on 44 or even if they beat cats then the game v us could determine who makes it.
Freo have Adel, Rich, Nth and Melb, again if they lose 2 of them they finish on 52
Nth have Ess, Bulldogs, GWS and Coll, if they lose 2 they finish on 52
Ess have Nth, Us, Rich and Collingwood, not inconceivable they could lose all of them, but say they win one against Rich they finish on 48 or if they win 2 52.

Geelong by beating the hawks are now pretty safe as are WC.

It is still very very possible to make the finals. And I am not clutching. So long as we win the last 4, and we can, we could make it. We also need to make up some percentage in our games against Brisbane and GC but if we can make them both 10 goal wins then any size win in the other 2 games and we could finish as high as 7th with a game against the Cats at the G in the Elim and a chance to go into a qualifying final again.

Stranger things have happened.

On the other hand, we wont finish lower than 12th if we lose the 2 games against the sides above us. Whilst better draft picks is a bonus, I prefer we have a crack and see what damage we can do.

If Freo & Essendon both lose next week, it does make it a bit interesting.

However I would expect even if results mostly go our way, we would miss out on percentage.

The game today however has made me lose all interest in us making finals. I thought we may legitamately be able to match it with the top teams if we scrapped in, but unfortunately we're along way off this year being able to match the intensity of the top teams come finals.

We had more inside 50s but got smashed in clearances and around stoppages in general. In general play, I thought we were better than the Swans but our skills let us down. Walker, Robinson and Judd will take care of the stoppages and add another forward option.

We need a 10 goal win over Brisbane and really need to smash Gold Coast big time. I won't give up until we are out, unless of course I need to rely on Melbourne, GWS, Port or Gold Coast to beat somebody.

im hurting like **** right now but im going to cling to the faint glimmer of hope until the maths tell me its over, for what its worth we need the tigers to knock off freo and ess at the very least

Jamison probably just stuffed up that theory:(

If we win all remaining games I can see us in a very tight % battle with Freo and Ess for 8th spot, we really need to beat both Brisbane and GC by heaps to get in.

That is even with Essendon beating Richmond and Nth.
