If ( and thats IF) my contacts are correct, I believe t draft will go somewhat like this. 1-7, pretty confident,8-10 a bit more guesswork).

1- Cooney
2- Walker
3- Clarke
4- Sylvia
5- Bradley
6- Ray
7- Tenace
8- Chaplin
9- Dunn
10- Burgess

Aren't you the guy who gave us the Bradshaw for Brown scenario during trade week?

As I asked in the other thread, Why would the Demons take Clarke at 3 if the Dogs are so intent on Ray as has been widely speculated?

Would we take Sylvia at 4 if he was available ? I really hope so.
Just a great young footballer who could play in the FP of HFF for us from day 1.

On the Drafts & Trading board, The Oggmonster posted the Official Top 5.

1. Cooney
2. Walker
3. Sylvia
4. Ray
5. Mclean

My info is that unless something drastic happens in the next few days, this top 5 is correct.

Melbourne would be pretty happy with 2 hard at it midfielders

Doc,

I was the one with the Bradshaw/Brown scenario. I can assure you that the Dogs persued this with vigor in the preceeding weeks prior to zeroing in on JR . This was confirmed to a close associate of mine by a leading player at the Dogs.

I don't understand your question on Clarke / Ray. I've been told that the Demons have fancied Clarke from day one. My source ( and I will tell everyone who they are, not unlike everyone else on this board who claims "good sources") is a relative of a key member of the Football Dept at the Demons. This is not to say I have been given dud information, only time will tell. All the press has been that Sylvia and Tenace are sure bets for the D's.

Why would the Demons take Clarke at 3 if the Dogs want Ray with pick 4 as speculated? If that is the case the Dees would still get Clarke at 5 while keeping Sylvia/Walker at 3.

However, if the Demons take Clarke first they run the risk of missing out on Sylvia as surely the Dogs would take him ahead of Ray. But if you believe the speculation, the Dogs are more likely to go with Ray if Sylvia is gone.

Unless of course the Demons have caught wind that the Dogs have turned their attention to Clarke, which I doubt very much.

How about our NT connection!

Doc,

I believe the Demons would be more than happy with taking Bradley at 5, and if they believe we may take Bradley at 4, then would pounce on Sylvia.
I know, I know its totally against what the Demons have been saying in the press, but as I said, I trust this source and thats what I have been told.

In the end I have no idea ( as have anybody else) what the clubs will do on the day. The only thing we can do is if we seem to have some form of reliabe information, then we post it hear and cop the flak if we've been had!

Doc,

The other thing also which I've just seen, is that on the AFL site with Kane Tenace sying that the cats came to see him on sunday at his home. A strong indicator that they feel he may go past pick 5 which is what all the hype has been. This may also mean the someone else has come into calculations to move into the top 5. Clarke?

Interesting!

Lamby,

Im not dreaming believe me. I am just posting what i have heard. No idea which way it will go.

I am pretty close to things at the Dogs, and i can assure you, I have no idea which way the Dogs will go.

I knew 2 months prior to last years draft the we where going for Walsh, but this year under Campbell Rose, the leaks have stopped.

My post info has come from inside the Demon camp, and like I said, I could have been fed porkies for all I know.

That sounds like a long one as well, because we didn't know the draft order until a week before with the C`arlton penalties.

To be fair, Walsh wasn't really touted as a top 5 pick and in all likelihood we probably expected to take him at 6. Jared Brennan said that we told him that we would take him at 4 if available when the salary cap breaches came through, but it is entirely possible that Walsh was our main target early on.

That said, I just get the feeling that Ray is going to come to us. Melbourne would have to be sure we would take Raph Clarke at pick 4 for them to take him that early, because we are far more likely to take Bradley at 4 in my opinion, so they'd take him at 3 if my logic is correct, knowing that Clarke is far more likely to be available at 5, assuming those are the two they want. Of course I can't see them going past Sylvia.

It wouldn't be unlike Clayton to pull a stunt on draft day, but I get the feeling it's almost set in stone. Still, we don't have long to wait to find out.

BB, you're dreaming if you think we will select Clarke over Sylvia!

Lamby, I doubt that McLean is worthy of going so high but he is a very good prospect never the less.
Re: Clarke over Sylvia, I agree that it is not likely however, the Dees might just believe that Clarke could end up being the better footballer down the track. Who knows.
It might also be a case of do we take the player that suits our needs or the player that might be the better footballer.
My preference would be Sylvia but I can see why a club might select Clarke.

Your mail is miles off.

The top 4 is set - Cooney, Walker, Sylvia and Ray
5 is between Dunn, McLean and Tenace.

That sounds much more like it.

OS, I like Raph Clarke, but Sylvia was born to play for us. :)

I would be very surprised if we overlooked Sylvia at 3, unless Walker was still available.
