BDO 2011 Rumour Thread

Agreed, it's looking incredibly average at this point, generally the most interest I take in is who fills the midday to 5 time slots this year I found Miami Horror, Passion Pit & Kasabian to be some of my favourite sets of the festival. I'm hoping for similar surprises this time round. Problem is Splendor took almost every act which I would have wanted on my BDO so I am expecting to be underwhelmed.

The Living End have some new material apparently and are BDO regulars so would have to be considered likely as well wouldn't they?
Nothing they announce will be able to top splendour for me anyway, so im probably wasting my time. But its a great day out, so heres hoping for some good releases soon.

Saw them out in one of the cow sheds at the BDO about 7 or 8 years ago and they rocked.

Look, the whole thing's gonna be sold out anyway, no matter who's booked. So if it's the large crowd you're worried about, best not bother considering a ticket at all.

it's the type of punters KOL will bring to the festival I don't like. the fewer people who go just to get drunk and say they went to BDO the better

One of the best things about is IMO. Always get to the front of just about every act.

Sasha (one of the best DJ's in the world) would have had about 100 people in the boiler this year. Was awesome.

Soundgarden FTW!

Not sure if they would do the Birds and Karnivool double though?

This will not happen. Karnivool won't tour Australia again until they have new material.

Pesrsonally I thought the last couple of years have been very average and I didn't think I would be going back to the BDO.However if STP and Soundgarden play I will definately be heading back. The music of the 90's was so much better then the crap they dish up these days

Freaking this.

I'm still trying to figure out why international music and aussie music has gone to s**t after about the year 2000 myself.

I'll go to tick off soundgarden/stp on my "was too young to afford to go when they were famous in 94-97 so i will catch em this time round" list.

Plus, I hear soundgarden have turned back the clock and are very very impressive.... hope for sideshow :thumbsu:

Agreed. So not looking forward to having to put up with stupid young drunk ####en bogans like this year but I'll be there to see Soundgarden & STP regardless.

It does not matter who is on the bill. The BDO will always attract young people who do not care about the music and want to get drunk and pick up. They actually make the majority. Just a fact. Still plenty of good music on offer. Well I speak for the last few BDO festivals. People went for the music in the 90's most likely.

Music is very much a subjective thing.

I love when i go to gigs and see some of the "un-expected" crowd there.

Went to a xavier rudd gig earlier this year and saw a bunch of "bikey" looking guys there. Its largely what makes a gig IMO.

I agree, if people are there to just say "i was smashed at the big day out" then they should probably stay at home. But alot of these people do like the music being dished up.

I don't understand the angst.

it was a more consistent bill then.

filling up half the day with crap is why people go and drink.

Take 98/99 and it was frenzal rhomb/the donnas at 11/12 o'clock.

these days its no-name local filler bands.

Karnviool followed by Kasabian last year. Birds of Tokyo followed by Cog the year before that at around 12/2. Its still solid, people just like to whinge.

actually it was mastodon at 1.15 followed by kasabian at 2pm at the adelaide bdo.

IMO the hours 11-1 were not were going for so I didn't.

Then the afternoon still struggles a bit

Mind, 10 years ago the BDO didn't really have the competition it does these days either which is sucking away the line up as well.

There are some very strong hints around the place that Tool might be headlining in 2011, or at the very least touring in January. I'm not so sure King of Leon are playing. I suspect Tool & Soundgarden will headline...

Would be sensational - 20 years since I saw them live :(.

As for that Tool rumour, not sure a headliner would be back after 4 years.

Muse came 3 years after the last time they did it.
