Big Day Out 09

thats a fairly average lineup.

i want ****ing crystal castles/health/friendly fires etc

theres still guys i'd see but no one im really excited about.

edit: just noticed drones are only doing the east coast shows, there goes another i was going to see.

The best on the new announcement are all Australian acts led by Died Pretty and Children Collide - Mammal and The Drones aren't far behind.

A fairly insipid line-up overall but there are some gems there too. The Big Day Out long lost it's adventurous nature when they would take a punt on bands like Ministry who not too many people had heard of yet the BDO put them on as headliners and they put on one of the most devestating rock shows this country has ever seen.

Ahhhh.... sweet memories.

DROPKICK ****ING MURPHYS!!!!!
Hope they do a sideshow as well, one of the best live bands around
... if they do a sideshow i'm going to that. if not i will have to go to the BDO. saw them live this year for the first time. Would pay the entry fee to see them again. Wondering - green/converse stage headliners? i fu****g hope so. I reckon they'd be heaps cool there but not so much on the main stages. it's be great to see them on the smaller stage, packed full of people going crazy...

agreed would probably prefer to see them off on the green/converse stage, however wouldnt be surprised if they were about 3rd or 4th last on the main stage.

Altho if its living end and murphys one afte the other that'd be decent.

There are some good australian acts......but the international performers selected are not that great.

Soundwave instead.

Nothing at all in 3rd that interests.

I hear Melvins may be playing shows round the country. Will go see King Buzzo in that rather than something fronted by That arrogant knobjockey Mike Patton

Mint, Trial Kennedy and Butterfly Effect. :thumbsu:

TBE at the 07 BDO wasn't very good, but that was due to the wind and the sound sounded crap... Not so sure they should play at a festival, or the main stage (early on? eh..) I love them live though...

i'm going to be interested in how many people show up to watch neil young... could be a very crowded boiler room if the prodigy are on at the same time...

I think the big day out should do what they did in sydney a few years ago, and have the prodigy on the mainstage after neil young, with big video screens in the boiler room... the chemical brothers did this in sydney after the beastie boys, and I think it worked quite well...

Yeah same pretty bad clashes there.

But at the moment my schedule would look something like this.

TGP, Birds of Tokyo, Ting Tings, BFMV, Pendulum, Cut Copy, Artic Monkeys, Prodigy,

Make sure you get there early for Children Collide on the main stage and then Eddy Current Suppression Ring at the Essential stage - Died Pretty are definitely worth seeing too.

Sparkadia > Children Collide > Eddie Current Suppression Ring > Little Red > The Ting Tings > Black Kids > TV on the Radio > Lunch > Serj Tankian > Cut Copy > Arctic Monkeys > Niel Young

....Would be my ideal day....

But reality will probably be more like

Children Collide > (The Ting Tings > TV on the Radio OR Black Kids > TV on the Radio) > Pendulum > Serj > Living End > Arctic Monkeys > Neil Young

My days looking good

whatever in the morning, probly get dragged to getaway plan, go see ECSR, maybe Cog, off to Lupe, probly grab some dinner, then Living End is a must see, maybe arctic monkeys, then probly chill to neil young and Dropkick Murphys at the end for there full set, the band to watch.

except getting home after dropkick murphys might be ****ed because there arent any trains to catch
grr
