Agree with your point.
We have to shoot higher than being first choice in our midfield? It's like saying that Tyrone Vickery would be first picked in our forward line. For what we'd have to pay out we need cream not a foot soldier.
I would rate him much higher than a 'foot soldier'...

In fact, he is starting mid in every side in the comp, super highly rated and goes better on bigger grounds as he gets to all contests and at speed, not suited to SCG.

Disposal is fine when on th outside.

Player and a 3rd rounder should do it!

Straight swap for Tuohy would be fair. Tuohy would dominate at the SCG. Both clubs address a need (Mills goes to the midfield). I don't want Tuohy to be kicked out though. Only if he wants to leave.

I worry about Mitchell's price which will be astronomical and attitude. He is a GOOD midfielder but he's a distant fifth to Parker, Hanneberry, Jack and Kennedy. You wouldn't break the back for him.

Whilst the Kerridges of opposition clubs may fill a need, unfortunately a game of football involves ongoing pressure and their disposal becomes a liability. I'd take 15 decent disposals under pressure than 25 touches with 5 turnovers which ultimately affect momentum and can hurt on the scoreboard.

I'm was very critical of his performance v GWS but he was very good V Adelaide.

The difference being the Swans midfield was much better than the Crows.

I'm not sold on the guy. He's certainly improve our midfield but he's the 5th best mid at his club .

So how would this work?
"Tom wants to get to Hawthorn but just in case we can't get that through, what are you going to do for my client?"

Mitchell is a better mid than Jack IMO and he would be a great pairing with Cripps.

My problem isn't his talent, it's his salary demands. I would trade Tuohy for Mitchell @500k at the absolute max, and that's not because I don't rate him. I just think our other targets are more important this year.

Say what you will about his attitude, he's a competitor and he works his guts out. Definitely not a lazy footballer.

Look. I'm not usually negative but TM doesn't seem to fit for us.
Like I said the cost on two levels would seem to high. Both in trade and wage terms.
I also don't think he fits with what SOS was focused on last year and hopefully this year. A focus on Value Talent and depth via trade and a focus on getting as many high picks in as possible. Bring TM in compromises this approach IMO. If he was a mid that could carry a midfield ala Crippa, the Bont or Pendles then yeah have a crack but IMO he's an accumulator who doesn't damage oppositions and would cost too much.

He's now ahead of Jack but behind the other three mentioned for sure. Says more about Sydney's midfield though than it does about Mitchell - he'd be a clear starting midfielder at every club across the competition.

He's not lazy, not by any means. But he's 'good' not 'great' and thus not worth the big dollars for. Rather draft and develop a top draft pick over time than seek a quick fix from Mitchell.

What if we got Tuohy involved in the trade for Mitchell and retained pick 5? Draft the best midfielder available and still land Mitchell. I don't think Mitchell is a 'quick fix' at the age of 23. He has close to a decade of service to provide a club and whilst he may never be a star, he would be a damn handy addition to our midfield. Our midfield needs all the help it can get so we can't be turning our nose up at the chance to land a midfielder of his quality. His dad played 38 games in the might navy blue jumper so I would welcome Tom with open arms.

This could be a huge off-season for us. Pick 5, Marchbank (potentially few other GWS boys) and Mitchell.

I'm surprised Mitchell is being compared to kerridge. Mitchell may not be damaging with his disposal but l think he is efficient and has clean sharp hands. Kerridge makes blatant unpressured mistakes on a regular basis. He's starting to remind me of Tom Bell.

I consider Mitchell the better pickup over touhy. Both good players though. Mitchell is younger and can play midfield and win his own ball. Those attributes would suit is.

I wonder if sos would be concerned about his speed. We are a bit slow and lack run through the midfield. Run is something Mitchell can't provide. The other issue is trigg with the comment "hybrid midfielder". Mitchell plays only as a midfielder. I'm not sure he is able to play elsewhere.

It will be interesting to see how Mitchell performs over finals series to see how exactly his game holds up in a high pressure environment.

I would also be surprised if his performances dropped off because he's playing in a lesser team. He is an inside mid who can win his own footy. Sure he's not someone who can do it all by himself but l think he would play decent footy in any team.

I think most of Mitchell's attributes would suit us. He could add more value than touhy. My major concern is his leg speed and if we are a team where that won't be an issue.
