Has anyone considered that releasing Gibbs may also be a salary dump to pry some guns out of GWS?

Would it ease people's minds if we say turn Gibbs $600,000 per season contract and Tuohy's $400,000 per season contract into a play for Tomlinson, Steele, Corr, Marchbank and Pickett?

I must be missing something. Can't we get Jarryd Lyons via the PSD? If so why send #24 to the Crows as part of a Gibbs deal?

Lyons averaged nearly 22 possessions this year in a quality team.
He had nearly 2 shots on goal a game (1 goal a game)
Nearly 5 tackles a game.
He played in both finals and racked up 9 tackles against the roos in the first final.

I see where you're coming from, and looking at what we accepted for Menzel last year it seems fair.

But Gibbs isn't Menzel. If we're going to trade one of our top-line mids, who has three year to run on his contract, it needs to be a good deal in and of itself. We can't just go accepting unders because we can use those picks in other trades. Gibbs is worth a good first round pick and then some, so accepting less than that would be remarkably irresponsible.

Yes but at the same time, this draft is extremely strong through to the second round. Pick 13 has a greater than average chance of being a star player. I actually don't want the Crows to part with it TBH as I am not sold on Gibbs being our 'saviour' in the midfield

You could say the same about us and Touhy but our rationale is obviously aimed at the bigger picture. Adelaide have struggled in the middle so if Lyons is indeed a good player, why wouldn't they just keep him?
