Why be worried? ... 13 for 2 former first round draft picks, and a decent prospect in Stewart (being kept out of a side because of Patton, Cameron and Lobb doesn't make him a dud) ... seems like pretty good value especially if it includes Corr.

Pickett has some massive injury hurdles to overcome and is unproven. Atm he is just potential. He could easily turn out to be a flop. Plenty of high draft picks don't make it.

Stewart is worth a fourth round pick, late third round at best.

Marchbank alone you wouldn't give up more than a late first rounder or early second rounder.

Some would argue this is all positive news.

We are "resetting" in a major, major way.

To me it all depends on what our end goal is.

If it is to competitive in the next few years? It is bad news.

If it is to set up a list capable of top 2 in 2021/2022?? As long as SOS can produce some magic at the trade table it is great news.
Agreed, especially with the talk that the club is happy enough to trade Gibbs, you'd think that Sos and co are confident in netting a reasonable return.

On another note, I think we all need to take a deep breath as iirc a few of the trades we did last year (namely Yaz and Menz) had people up in arms at the club apparently being screwed over but 12 months on we're all pretty happy with the outcomes.

I can stomach a lot, but not F**** Motlop. I do not want this guy anywhere near this club.

What we should be doing is using our future 2nd rounder on Marchbank alone and taking Pick #5 and Pick #13 to the draft where we can get a couple of young gun midfielders and cover the loss of Gibbs. Arguably, our situation looks brighter by replacing a 28 year old Gibbs with 2 18 year old draft picks that will undoubtedly get game time this season.

These guys like Stewart, Pickett etc.. barely worth 3rd rounders in their current state. If we want them so bad, we've got current and future 3rd rounders we can throw at them.

This is EXACTLY what we should be doing.

Marchbank + #5 + #13 + #24 would be a great addition to the side. **** going after these players that they'll get rid of anyway. If any one of them were part of their plans, they'd be getting game time. Says all you need to know about them. We just can't trade pick #5 away. It's such a dumb move for the sake of depth. We can build depth later.

I have faith in bolts. SOS not so much. Got a feeling he is going to be the list manager equivalent of Voss/Buckley/Hird
Last years trade alone vindicates him from this type of ****whittery...

I'm telling you, these Lisfranc injuries need to be treated with caution. I hope that Pickett gets an absolute thorough medical because there is a chance his career is short lived as a result of these horrid injuries. I would not wish that on him at all (want him to be a full firing gun as per his draft potential)

People need to calm down. Pickett is one of these famous " steak Knives " mentioned here religiously. He is costing us bugger all in 5 for five deal. Worth the risk IMO.

You ARE kidding! Gibbs is worth more than Pick 13 and Lyons by Himself, let alone handing over our 2nd rounder!

You are OK with this? That's like a signal for all clubs to come pull our pants down!
What do you suggest we get from Geelong for Touhy then? Simply give him away and ask Geelong for some 'positive vibes'?

Not at all OK with the current "rumoured" trade scenario for Gibba, I think it'll look different come the time of the trade, I'm saying that with the pick in general that we get for him will aid us in our pursuit of the GWS 5 without us losing pick 5.

OK thanks for clarifying, I was about to push out my 3rd kitten!

Id be happy with that TBH.

Adelaide trade Lyons and 13 to GCS for pick 8, then ontrade 8 to us for Gibbs plus an exchange of third rounders (our 54 for thier 49). We trade 23 and our future second for (Marchbank, Pickett and Stewart). Tuohy goes for 22.

We add Marchbank (pick 6), Stewart (pick 27) and Pickett (pick 4) and use 5, 8, 22, 41, 49 at the draft.

In: Picks 4, 5, 6, 8, 22, 27, 41, 49.

Geelong have Future picks...

They can only trade their future 2nd round pick, which is about as useful as pick #36 and #40.

Maybe Tuohy for Kolodjashnij? Young running defender, similar to Tuohy.

Was a second round pick and has been semi-regular in Geelongs defense.
Pretty sure he was a third round pick, and we need a lot more than that coming back our way; he doesn't suit our list structure unless we push White out the door and don't get Corr or Finlayson.

What would people think about 35 and George Horlin-Smith for Tuohy?

Will take GHS & pick 36 for Tuohy.
No to both of you.

EDIT: future, not first

Why aren't people happy with getting thirteen and a player for Gibbs?

Pick 13 is my favourite pick. Because it is how we got that beauty in Cripps.

(Yes, I know it was Rodgers. But who bloody cares!!!)
