800 x 4 is the most I'd pay
It's overs, but you gotta pay overs in FA
Overs??? That’s what he will get to stay at West Coke...

There's a lot of time to pass, but we're making a big play for a certain free agent in the West #bluemour

While I get what you're trying to say about the TPP bump, you wouldn't be paying that to a 30 year old 9 times out of 10.Overs??? That’s what he will get to stay at West Coke...
Varney, the star of On The Buses.who tf is reg?
Ide take that in a heartbeat ...... Cripps/Kennedy/Ed/SPS would love knowing their hard work at stoppages was going to a smooth mover like Gaff. We would probably see (plucking a figure out of my arse), +10% in scoring just from his boot into the F50 alone.
Only thing is, he turns 26 mid this year ... so not 100% sure if the demographics are right.
I could watch his delivery all day ...
At this stage I’d rather keep our coin and go for Shiel next year.
We have moved on 44 players in three years and not been in a salary bidding war for any replacements. Someone has got to be getting paid enough to meet minimum SC requirements. He is exactly the kind of player we need. He runs hard each way and creates a lot of space. He is an excellent link up player, with very good disposal who gets it around 30 times a game. His contested numbers are low, but he is an outside player. He gets a lot of the ball on the outside (top three AFL level) and uses it well. His outside game is elite. We have contested players with Cripps, Dow, E Curnow and Kennedy.
I would be more than happy with a 3 million/ 4 year offer, front loaded in years one and two.
That is basically the less than the salary of Simpson (600 odd), Thomas (300 odd) and Rowe (300 odd) , all of whom are likely to retire this year. People need to remember we also lost Bryce Gibbs last year, and that has freed up 750,000 PA at least.
There is no way the Eagles would match that offer either, as it is close to band one compensation. At a bare minimum they would receive an end of first round draft pick for him with band 2 (pick 19) in a super draft, and seeing as they traded this year's first round draft pick to the Suns last year, they would let him walk for that compensation.
If we could land Gaff as a F/A plus grab someone like Isack Rankine with our first round pick (giving us two very offensive outside midfielders, with Rankine also ready to go next year) plus also have two 2nd round picks and a couple of handy father sons this year, I would be very bullish indeed about our list next year, and going forwards.
Those two would complement Cripps, Kennedy and Dow perfectly.
Im confident that we could safely afford Gaff as a free agent on that kind of coin and still have enough money left to not only bring in another free agent next year like Shiel on similar money +, but also safely accommodate for our kids and fight off a free agency offer towards Cripps in a couple of years.
I hope we are in this up to our eyeballs.

Expect we have front loaded some and possibly given a golden handshake to Simpson and others to ensure we did, without setting unrealistic expectations for the kids as to what they are worth.
Yeah Lobbe is on 500k, you'd expect that to be off the books or greatly discounted going forward.
Trouble being only Gaff is available and is only somewhat attractive as a FA that fits our list profile this year. Next year may be more attractive but only if clubs are unable to extend contracts before they expire. After Gibbs left we had to spend it on something to come up to 95 percent. A back up Ruckman was as good as anything.
Even factoring in that we've probably paid slight overs to lure Kennedy, Marchbank and Plowman to the club, we have a squillions to spend.
With the state our back line is in, and Jones sudden form, the writing is on the wall for Rowe this year. Simpson, ASOS and Thomas' contracts all expire this year as well.
I dare say most of those four will be retire by the end of the year, and if not this year then next year for certain. Only Simpson would be on in excess of 500K per annum, but those four players alone free up over a million (and probably closer to 1.5 million) in the salary cap combined.
The Long and Short of it is is that we have enough room to safely accommodate contract extensions for all of our young players and Patrick Cripps, and still have enough left over the acquisition of a gun free agent or two or a big name trade over the next few years.
It's all part of a deliberate long-term list management strategy by the club. Focus on the draft first and banking sizeable amounts of the salary cap for several years. Then as those young draftees start to rise up the ladder and the club becomes a destination club, use that money along with the promise of a young and upcoming list to lure promising free agents to plug any remaining holes in the list and add that extra layer of class.
Mark my words this year we will embrace the draft again and also be on the hunt for a big-name free agent.
Next year we will go all in with trading for a big name, and look to also obtain another gun free agent.

No imo he doesnt have much of a defensive side downhill skier more like it . He's what we wanted Boekhorst to become . Most sides have one or two however .So Gaff is basically Stevens with a defensive side?
Hopefully nothing like him in extra curricular activities though.

Correct he is exactly that, anything more is just a plus. Gaff is an AA wingman, if LOB can reach those heights id be very happy.I'm a fan of Gaff.
He's essentially what we hope LOB turns into.
