Just wondering Daromth, whom would place ahead of SPS and Ainsworth?
SPS is based on what I saw of him last year. Remember that the majority of the U18s crop of WA players were all actually U17s so we got to see a bunch of WA kids early. I will make a more learned evaluation over the course of the year :)

But so far, SPS is probably the best of the WA kids.

6"2" is 188cm and those blokes you mention under 185cms need to have tricks if you're that size but the other issue with that list is other than Buckley they're quite slow for small mids
You're working off a number of assumptions there, but in terms of 90% of the draftees that come in, they're generally safe if they're over 177 cms.

It's generally a case of being too short for a given role and something else key missing from your game, whether it be pace, strength, kicking, etc.

A certain athletic profile has been overvalued for quite a while, which is why some teams are finding gold in the third round with names like Caleb Daniel, though I suspect that will adjust in upcoming drafts, as you can already see with someone like Kieran Lovell going to the Hawks in the first round.

I have no issue with picking a small bloke who is a gun however I'm taking a big mid over a small mid every day of the week. If you have a 6"6" mid averaging 30 touches a game and a 5"2" mid averaging 30 touches a game who are you taking?

I'd want more info

Assuming you mean identical athleticism, skills and output, then yeah you're going to pick the taller guy, but how often does that happen?
Not very but just proving a point. I wanted us to pick up Gresham in the draft so I'm not adverse to picking up small blokes but we have our fair share.

I'm fairly confident that we have one of the taller lists in the league.

identical other than height

If they're identical apart from height i'm picking the lil guy.
If you have a guy who's 188cm and 90kg and a bloke who's is 178cm and 90kg and they can run at the same pace the 178cm bloke will be a human wrecking ball with lower centre of gravity. The only advantage the tall guy has is he can reach higher which aids in making.

When you think about it, it's pretty clear we'd be targeting a quality young mid.

There's just not as much point selling the farm for a KPF yet, if we can't get the ball into the forward line, in a constructive fashion.
Let's get midfield finely tuned first and then finish it off with the bookends.

I was going to say this, but wanted the whole ceteris paribus debate to end. :P

We'll be chasing a KPD who's 196+ or has the spoiling reach of one, and an inside-leaning midfielder with above average disposal skills. The rest we'll just draft (including a ruck) or depth trade/sign.

I'd like us to try and lure jack frost from Collingwood.
A set and forget full back in the Jamison mould.
Tom Mcdonald would be the dream however.

Build our own - F/S picks, Lance & Kouta wandered down from Lalor, Molly just wanted to use the club dunny. Think national, act local.

The next SOS is a FF circa two years away.
Maybe Tomlinson will get pushed out at GWS, and if not then maybe Stewart, Marchbank or Patton will be available as GWS cannot play them all.

Plowman looks a good trade if he can get on the park - and can fill a tall defender with midfield rotations role.

If we could snag Mitchell it could lift our midfield dramatically, but if not there are some midfield gems in the draft this year that will be just as good as Mitchell in 2-3 years time and better in 5-8 years time.

WE just need to be patient and not throw our future away on injured or conditional quick fix opportunities.

We'd like one no doubt, but where from?
Given we have such a great association with GWS, could have we possibly discussed Patton?

Other than that who? Stewart? Tomlinson doesn't fit that criteria. Tom Lynch is off the table.
I just don't think we'll be over-reaching if there's no-one there. It may just have to be next year.....or the year after.

KPD, not KPF.

Hooker is a free agent this off-season. Chasing a KPF is an option if we shift Jones and one other senior name.
