What peanuts though ridout, Richardson and the ******
LOL let's just forget that Richardson and Ridout got McManus extremely nicely when they started quoting industrial laws to her, highlighting Mcmanus's lies and telling her who implemented the l;aws.

Rolling Stone wrote a good long piece on it at the time which I can't find for the life of me, here's Rob Halford looking back on it in 2015.

Killer quote!

...[Halford said] the case was a great opportunity for a band like Priest to show the judge and the public that was clueless about metal and rock that we had a bunch of guys who could string sentences together and be logical and intelligent and have a deep conversation in a courtroom. I think there was the misguided belief that that wasn't going to happen. But we're not idiots, and we never will be...

And they were spot on , instead of work choices we got fair work
Was ok until tony got his best mate in , who turned it into a NEO LIBERAL THINK TANK which is off course what they do with courts, police, army public service over the years all used as political tools
Refer kathy Jackson and that shemozle and his dads best mates son (you know the ex ambassador to the Vatican)
Be very afraid of what they could do after that one , a elected representative no less!
Only bloke who wanted to stop the gravy train got thrown under the bus
No doubt you were cheering
But don't panic people , we may start thinking

Why don't we blame Tony Abbott for outcomes which were the direct result of the decisions made by BIll shorten and Labor under Julia Gillard.

The laws regarding strikes and the public necessity test was bought in in 2009. Abbott was not in government. Bill asked the Fair Work commission to reexamine penalty rates in 4 yearly reviews. Again nothing to do with Abbott.

2018 election in a nutshell

Homelessness.....The economic gap between rich & poor prefaced upon big business muscling in on govt & dictating economic policy terms....Who are only interested in & motivated by profits & reducing their tax burden, at the expense of all workers & those dependent upon welfare.

It is not in big business's interests to look after the poor & all cross sections of the community.....That is the role of government......When you conflate government with big business, then it's always those at the lower end of the economic spectrum who suffer the most, as they are the most powerless.

The government is supposed to be representing the people, in the interests of balance & social cohesion.....Less chaos take hold.

There must be a clear & distinct line of demarcation drawn between the role of government & that of business.....Businesses are only interested in looking after themselves, governments are supposed to be looking after the people.

Tax cuts for small business in order to stimulate growth......Yes
Tax increases on the multi-nats & big banking houses in order to make them pay for stripping our resources that belong to Australia & it's citizens.....Banks only make money on the back of the work of others....We are not here to serve them, they exist in order to serve people.

What we need is a fundamental shift in mind-set towards the banksters & big business interests, prefaced upon the self-evident truths of the social-contract....That the only legitimization & justification for their existence in the first place is to serve society & thereby the greater good of the many.....instead of serving the few at the expense of the rest of us.

Lets see Shorten champion those basic labor tenants & then watch the MSM & the intel agencies s**t their pants & go to work on calling him a Socialist, a recalcitrant & a 'Russian-Bot'.....LOL

I remember Queen's "another one bites the dust" was also targeted at the time. Played backwards the chorus was alleged to sound like "it's fun to smoke marijuana".
Hah! I remember seeing that on some obscure snippet of TV when I was like 10 years old and it's stuck with me ever since. I've been fully convinced I was the only person in the world who would know that claim existed until right now.

Can anyone remember when exactly he went from "budget budget budget" to "the left left left"?

I would actually love to see the moment the deficit became transgender man allowed to compete in womans olympics.

For those who watch his show. Was the transition seamless? Or did he give a big sad speech explaining he's putting the deficit in the past because Turnbull is Rudd and it's now time to fight people trying to change Australia day.

He still has a TV show?

Nothing to see hear, Russell. Blot is the most mendacious pseudo journo in the country and that's saying something. Suits the Dirty Diggers publications to a tee.

How dare you suggest that Bolt just makes s**t up in order to ply Ruprects agenda....Scandalous.

& other examples of fake news are ..... see http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-06-27/chau-chak-wing-andrew-hastie-comments/9915628

The ABC is no more or less capable of trotting out nonsense.

Certainly there's criticism there, but those accused are defending the case and the Judge has reserved his decision. Then there could be appeals. So let's wait and see.

I've not suggested the ABC is perfect. No organisation is. But it's no accident they are repeatedly regarded by the overwhelming majority of the population as the most reliable news source. According the most recent survey posted earlier in the thread only 9% don't trust the ABC. As distinct from News Corporation.

As far as Blot is concerned it's his body of work that demonstrates his lies and distortions. He and Jones appear more regularly on Media Watch for propagating untruths than any other media people. He's been found guilty in a court for 'errors of fact'(lies) among other things. Been found guilty of defamation. Has a myriad of independent commentators find fault with the accuracy of his pseudo journalism. Including a piece from The Australian Independent Media Network titled 'The facts verses Andrew Bolt' which concluded as follows:

I am sure that none of this will be of interest to Andrew Bolt. I'm also sure we'll keep hearing that global warming stopped 16 years ago despite evidence to the contrary. But we have one thing to be thankful for Andrew Bolt for: whilst he keeps writing articles denying creditable evidence and supporting discredited sources, and continuing to promote a raft of fallacies which add a sweetener to his bitter hatred, this can only be good for the growth of independent media. When people stack the truth up against Andrew Bolt . . . they'll see that the truth wins.

Not sure a lot of posters can deal with the suggestion the ABC is NOT perfect, 100% no organisation is. Media Watch is in the same boat.

I do listen to the ABC most days, dont accept their comment as fact anymore than I do comment on Sky.
Comment is not news, not fact, its easy to confuse one from the other.

Media Watch lies AMan. Especially when it comes to global warming. They’ve been caught out quite a few times over the years for lying and that old campaigner who does it had a punchable face as well.

I initially gave you some credit for having at least a modicum of understanding of the media and the likes of Blot. Clearly I was wrong.

A lot of posters think the ABC is perfect, you say. Blot would be proud of a gross generalisation that has no factual basis. I've never heard one person say that or seen it written anywhere. That would be because it's arrant nonsense. Not even the extremely pro "Friends of the ABC" say that.

Media Watch does what all critical analysis should do and that is support their contentions with evidence. It's not that difficult to demonstrate plagiarism. Or to check the original comment of someone who has been misrepresented et al. And they are open to that sort of criticism if they are shown to be out of line. It's rare.

Of course news and opinion are not the same. Although the Dirty Digger and his band of prevaricators are more than pleased to blur the lines in many of their publications. Just because a person writes an opinion piece does not give them the right to write uninformed s**t or pure make believe. Real opinion writers seek out and marshall facts, deploy new knowledge, critical judgement and breadth of understanding. Blot has been found be careless with research (I'd suggest he doesn't know the meaning of it) distorts the truth (lies)and been found to have written articles which contained multiple and serious errors of fact. You can't excuse rubbish writing just because it's opinion. There is a responsibility to be accurate. The journalists code demands it. In fact their first point is:

"Report and interpret honestly, striving for accuracy, fairness and disclosure of all essential facts. Do not suppress relevant available facts, or give distorting emphasis."

On a lighter note:
