Take it to the bank...

Both Crouch brothers going to GCS...

Lukousios,Pick 19,55(2019).Pick 19 (2020)

This gives Adelaide a lot of options with Salary dump (go for Grundy)plus the boy they wanted, then next year try for Rankine...

This gives Gold Coast Rankine,Crouch,Crouch,Swallow,Fiorini,Brodie,Miller,Ellis(rich),Weller.

This is a very classy and young group of on-ballers for GWS to improve out off site.

Adelaide will then have Lukousios picks 4,19,23,28,42(Keath pick) pus Pick 19 next year to try and get Rankine...

I agree that you should try and get max value for him, as all clubs should do.

As we are likely to finish bottom 2 it would be foolish to trade that for Crouch but I can see why you would ask.

Personally I hope he stays

I think the biggest reason for Brad to move is this years salary, he signed 4 years ago so it would be safe to say he is on around $400-$500 if he moves he will be asking $800-$900. This year alone he will drop $400k if he stays

Big incentive to move but he also needs to find someone who will trade the currency to satisfy the crows and the fact they will get that RFA next year regardless

He cant use the old compassion as a means to move, its all about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

That would be silly considering Grundy has stated publicily he wants to stay at the pies

Wheres your inside knowledge coming from

Not sure how GWS are improving with our midfield.

I think I might take the rest of your comments with a grain of salt

Hahaha was just thinking the same thing! Plus we resigned O'Brien and would have to give up the house to get Grundy given pies are in a premiership window which wouldn't be worth it to the crows. As much as I'd like Lukosius I don't see that trade having any legitimacy.

Add to that Reid's interview yesterday making it pretty clear that MCrouch isn't going anywhere and that it was just a made up media rumour and it all adds up to a strong pass on taking that to the bank.

iirc it took him a while to sign his last contract at AFC, was holding out for more money but hadn't played consistently enough for us to offer big bucks. Mrouch on the other hand signed quickly and easily because we we're happy to pay good money for a young AA player.

Agreed Brouch is after the cash, can't blame him, a lot up for grabs.

Guys you have just lost or going to loose 8 off your best 20 players.... Betts,Jenkins,Keath, etc have ran fast to get out off the place you need to bring in young Adelaide boys fast to point the sinking ship in the right directions, Crouch boys have not worked for you.. take the opportunity whilst you can to get back the 2 SA boys that could play in your next Grand Final team....No more miss management you still have no coach going into trade time....................................

? Crouch brothers have been great for us. Only problem is Brads ability to to stay on the park which a lot of that blame lays with us (Burton).

GC aren't trading Luko or Rankine without a gun to their head, given they're both contracted it ain't happening this year.

What crap 8 of our best 20? May have been two years ago but not now. Did you see our B & F count? They haven’t run, they have been told “you will be playing SANFL next year if you stay and see out your contract”.

Only CEY and Keath are losses, the rest are past it.

Brad is going nowhere.

It's evidence of just how bad our year has been, Mackay has been his usual ineffectual self but is still relatively consistent enough that he can make this year's B+F top 10 (his votes per game have barely changed in the last several years and he has rarely ever been near the top 10 in his career).
I thought Laird had clearly his least effective year for a while.
How has he gone in previous years counts?

Yep pick 7, 8 and 9

NOthing below pick 7 in 20 years

GC have had how many top 5 picks along with the blues, we haven't had one

Might have nearly evened up after last and this years draft but GWS had far more first round picks prior.

Thats an example that you think Gold Coast should follow? A moment of Paul Roos stupidity?

Roos way overrated Tyson, who had only been at GWS for 2 years, and just 13 games. And even taking into account it was Dom Tyson + Christian Salem, Melbourne would've been way better off just selecting Josh Kelly. Or even Marcus Bontempelli.

The other pick they gave up in that trade was pick 20 (slid to 22 after F/S and Academy bidding). Players available at that pick that they missed out on the opportunity of selecting include Matt Crouch, Rory Lobb, Zach Merret and Alex Pearce.

Especially since they've since shipped off Tyson for a bag of chips.

It’s the bold move that made them competitive, GC have a wealth of kids every club would love. Name one of the experienced players clubs want? Maybe Swallow would get a game but no one else.

You don’t need more kids, you need some seasoned bodies to help the kids

No it really didn't. They would've been much better off keeping the pick and selecting one of the other players. It was peak stupidity.
Just like your club trading away two first round picks for Wayne Carey.

Yeah agreed , He will definitely get be asking for more money now at the crows

well atleast you will have the cap space now
Your right on cap space we need to front end a few

Eddie 650k
JJ 550k
Jacobs $500k
Douglas $450k
Greenwood $300k
Keath $300k
Otten $300k

And CEY and Hunter

We must have a spare 2 million

From experienced players besides Swallow I would say Witts, Thompson and Sexton would find a game somewhere else.

Some talented kids are entering 3-5 years in the system. Any of Fiorini, Brodie, Ainsworth, Bowes, Macpherson could have a break out season in midfield next year.
5 years - Fiorini, Weller, Macpherson
4 years - Ainsworth, Brodie, Bowes
3 years - Ballard, Powell

Suns would be crazy not to draft Rowell and Anderson and add them to elite talent King, Rankine and Lukosius. Exactly the types to complement current midfield which is too one-dimentional. They both look like to be able contribute in the first year.

If B Crouch ask for trade (big if, I still don't believe it will happen) Crows would be smart to do the deal. The last thing you want to have is unhappy player on the team on half money he could get, delay rebuild and have compo pick decided by AFL committee. Suns kept Martin and let go May. No doubt May was correct decision even though Suns would probably get pick 2 as compo this year instead of pick 6 Suns used on King. Ironically it would mean no PP1 this year most probably. Martin was a pain to watch in the second half of the season when he checked out.

Adding top talent plus getting a 2-3 mature players like Ellis, Greenwood who should be in the best 22 is the right way to go for Suns at the moment and probably the only way as to attract elite 24-26 years talent is basically impossible at the bottom.

B. Crouch would be handy but he is risk injury wise and Suns have similar types though not as good at the moment. Picks 11 + 15/20 for me if trade would happen.

Personally, I am happy only with Greenwood to help Suns midfield. Not expensive and only 4 years in a system. Another preseason and if healthy he still has upside and should help Suns while Brodie, Bowes, Fiorini continue to grow and take over. Next year watching Rowell, Anderson on top of Rankine (ultimately midfielder), Lukosius, King will be a treat.

Limit injuries and Suns will be quite competitive next year. Keep the team together for 1-2 more years and watch out.

Wont be surprised if SOS is chasing Crouch. Crouch worth top 10 pick. Can see us using Pick 9 and next years 1st to get both Papley and Crouch

Your just looking at the bright side with this, Chances are the crows are going to be paying alot of the money for Jacobs,Betts,JJ whilst they play at another club.
