Gibbs looks great in Navy Blue.

It's kind of cute, because his girlfriend is following him around the room.

That might be his younger sister AWG!
BTW, anyone got a pic of Bryce in a Carlton shirt?

The Blues decided on Bryce about 6 weeks ago. Nice to see it formalised though. Murph and Gibbs in the midfield in 2007 is now a reality. Unbeliveable! :)
Mark Austin ... another talented KP Defender to add to our growing stocks:

Hartlett, Thornton, Flint, Saddington, Bower, O'hAilpin

KP defenders are a wasted pick. They don't win you games. Key forwards and gun mids are matchwinners.... defenders are the ones who aren't quite good enough to take the game by the scruff, therefore dime a dozen. Leave those till the late picks.

I wonder how successful our club would have been during the 70s, 80s & 90s without the likes of Southby, Doull, Swan McKay, Waite, Austin, English, Perovic, Silvagni, Andrew McKay etc.

In all seriousness no trolling from me today.

Congratulations on picking up one of the most quality young mids of the last few years and depending on his development curve he could take you guys anywhere on the back of his own shoulders. Will have a better first year than Murphy IMO.

Well done

Cheers Rave

You'd be rapt/amazed that Sellar got that far

Apparently before he got sick dominated some games for Glenelg

Mate you wouldn't believe how happy I am. My #1,2 and 3 were Gibbs, Sellar and Leunberger (in no order) and I didn't expect to snare any of them. To get 1/3 has me absolutely stoked.

Sellar top 3? Now that is funny. But I guess if that sort of self-delusional spin helps heal your pain, then that's OK. BTW I am looking forward the the Gibbs, Murph, Walker, Simmo, Russell, Blackwell etc lineup against the Crows Dads-Army midfield group. It might even trigger a few Crow retirements. :)

You're missing the point. It doesn't take talent to shut down an opponent. Just discipline and sticking to your guns. Out of that list you mentioned, all fine players, but how many matchwinners in there?? SOS is about the only one who could go forward and win a game, rather than save it.

My personal 1, 2 and 3 for my club parrot. Not the entire draft.

I'm not gonna stoop to your level either, not on this board. Your club is still a good 2 or 3 years from contention.

Your club is still a good two to three years away from bottoming out. :)

What is wrong with you? He was congratulating us on getting Gibbs, and simply adding that he was pleased with the Crows picking up Sellar. No bitterness, no rudeness. Have you ever considered randomly attacking someone with your senseless crap to be pointless? Seriously, you're so confrontational with supporters of other teams it isn't funny. What's even worse is that someone else has followed suit...

Also can't believe that guy who said picking up defenders is a waste. What's your definition of a match-winner? The guy who kicks a goal on the siren to take all the glory? Ever thought about the guy who shuts down the oppositions best forward and eliminates their greatest avenue of goal scoring?

You appear to be right on this occasion but even Rave Slave should acknowledge that his complete carve ups of Carlton over the Gibbs issue on Bay 13, probably earn him this sort of response. Do the search WTW, it might make more sense.

Bruce Doull's Norm Smith medal in the 1981 GF would suggest that those making the decision determined his role to be more than just that of a stopper.

You could mount plenty of cases based on that arguement... Billy Duckworth, David Rhys-Jones. I'm not saying they're not valuable, just that in the majority they don't require the talent of a forward of mid to effectively do their job.... therefore if we are drafting defenders, there's a good chance they'll have less natural ability than a forward or mid.
