I love butch. The only man that's made me cry. I hope you get another year, you have earnt it. Good on ya mate.
 
Butcher needs a few kicking lessons from a soccer coach that teaches free kicks or a rugby coach that teaches how to kick penalties.

His kicking is fine. He has only one flaw, and even then it only happens when he shanks it, he starts his run up unbalanced and once you do that there is no turning back.
Balance yourself first and then go through the motions.

He could be an absolute gun.

I want nothing more than John Butcher to succeed. I will literally pay his salary next year to keep him here.

If he can sort out his head space, he could be special

Unfortunately no for everything Brad Johnson just said when he was asked that question. I loved Daryl Poole when I was younger and we first came into the comp but even then I knew he wasn't a key forward in a good AFL side, same as Butch.
 
I hope we keep him. My fav player and would love to see it work out for him. Wish I knew what was needed to help him though. Fingers crossed

Sorry h8ers but it's pretty clear he's getting another year.
 
Loved his game today. Presented well, took some terrific marks, kicked a goal. He gets the crowd involved and his teammates clearly love playing alongside him.

Kicking at goal obviously the elephant in the room. The ridiculous thing is that his kicking is in fact getting worse not better.
 
His game had strong Contested marking, goal assists, pressure on the opposition and drawing opponents. Outside his kicking for goal you'd be happy with that game from any KPF any game. He needs to play CHF when Dixon is FF to utilise his strengths and minimise his set shot issues.

My heart dropped when he sprayed his shot at goal before he got one. You could see his heart break Ralph Wiggum style. Him being able to get his goal not long after was the most enjoyable single moment of a season, that on the whole I'd rather forget. Another year on the main list is a no brainer IMO.
 
Butch ken and jasper in a long conversation post game, then jasper walked off and the other two spent another 3 or 4 minutes talking quite contently.

The thing about Butcher is that he is one of those players that can turn games even without kicking goals.
Unfortunately he could also lose games with his bad kicking at a crucial stage.

Fix his ****ing kicking for goal Port. Cannot believe that we haven't been able to do it yet we can teach people from Ireland and the US how to kick a foreign object.
 
I'd say Butch needs either a hypnotherapist or a psychologist .. Because it must be mental . I'd give him another year or rookie him ,then search for the best sports psychologist in the world because if he fixed his kicking and got his confidence up we wouldn't even need Charlie Dixon oops
 
Deserves more time to get his kicking right. Faith shown will be met with continued desire. Loved the cheering when he was lining up for a shot.
 
I love watching him as the ball comes in ready to crash the pack. I enjoy watching Schulz's leads and ability to score from anywhere, but that crash packing has transformed our forward line for the better. Butch haters don't get that others+ Butch the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

That's the problem, imagine relying on his kick in a prelim for instance.. feel good story could turn into a turd in the punch bowl real quick.

Sounded like Ken want's to keep him on in the presser but he refused to answer when the question was directly put to him.

I'd rookie list him :thumbsu:
