Bye Bye Bishop!!!!! :d

Right decision on Bish (although a year later than it should've been), the time's right for Bob to come in and play Bish's role. He was great for us in those years at the top, but he aint got it any more.

There was a big question over Ezard's skills but he was worth another year imo. Maybe he wanted to go home

Bishop - whilst he was piss poor towards end of last year and even more so this year was very important in 2002 - 2004. Never forget his handball to himself in the back pocket at the MCG in the Grand final - top stuff...
Yeah that's what I always remember too. The resultant goal was at such a crucial stage of the game. Even the commentators were shocked at the way Bish turned defence into attack. I wish him the best of luck in what he does with the rest of his journey.

not sure about ezard, but i heard that bishop and ware had been delisted. also salopek was talked about as a trade, as club knows one day he will return to melbourne

Bishop served the club well and was a integral member of the team which eventually won the flag and as a Port supporter I will never forget this. I wish Matthew all the best in his future endeavours:)

yes mate i think i no trading is all over, but just saying dont always beleive clubs when tell you these players are not up for trade. salopek was talked about dont didnt get off the ground this year.

Someone told me it was Ware and this was reported on Ch 2 news, not Ezard. Is there a link?

Rucci hinted Pettigrew was on the table with #5 for #1, but I thought he just read this on BF.

No links as yet... was reported on Channel Nine news tonight

It doesn't make any sense to me that they would delist Ezard and keep Ware. And my mate was adamant Ch 2 said Ware.

Ware was delisted ages ago. Channel nine showed pics of Ezard and were saying that he has only played 4 games for us.

Ware hasn't been delisted. He's been rumoured to have been told he was no longer required, but there's no official comment. Only official delistings are Wangas, Francou, Kingsley, Shattock, Eckermann, Walsh and now Bishop and Ezard (?). I'll have to try and catch a newsbreak during the evening.

Is the suggestion that Ezard's delisting was a tactical move to take Essendon out of the Russell PSD equation entirely insane?

It's drawing a ridiculously long bow, I know, but I can't rationalise the "keep Ware, lose Ezard" theory any other way.

And my mate was adamant Ch 2 said Ware.

Curiouser and curiouser.

I for one refuse to be a hypocrite...........

What you consider hypocrisy, might by others be considered tact.

oh, If I dont like someone, I wouldnt go to their funeral anyway......... I would have a private celebration at home :D

Ah, but would you also denounce them as a "dud" on a public forum?

That could be left to the last list lodgement (ooh nice alliteration), they wouldn't have to act now. Who knows who might yet be shaken from club lists. Creative thought tho! :thumbsu:

My mate might just have misheard ... if 9 were running shots of Ezard, then you'd have to assume it was him.

Channel 2 said Bishop and Ware. Did not mention Ezard.

Bish, thanks for everything - a gentleman and a very good player!

Congratulations on a great career, rewarded by a premiership.

It begs the question, if this is THE superdraft - is there any place for re-cycling players?

My 2 memories of Bish, in the GF - thinking "don't f**k it up!!" and he didn't. Also, when he played for Melbourne - in a trial game at Alberton, collecting the ball on the HB line - and going for a dash thru' the centre. Ran smack into Pooley. Flat on his back, didn't play first 6 rounds?

Like his career, highlights and then st*ff-ups:o

Gezza

I can't remember Melbourne ever playing a game at Alberton.

The game you may be referring to was Round 5 of 1999 at the MCG, Poole was not playing that day but if my memory serves me correct he ran into Barnaby French and was out for the next six weeks.

Stations with conflicting stories then.. will just have to wait until the club makes a formal announcement through the week

Whew, I feel better about that. If the ABC is right ... :o

Well ABC's website says they're both gone!

Meanwhile, Port Adelaide has chosen not to renew the contract of 2004 premiership player Matthew Bishop.

Bishop played 132 senior matches for the Power after joining the club in 2000.

James Ezard and Elijah Ware joined Bishop in not being offered new contracts for 2007.

There was a trial game one year. 98 or 99 I reckon it was.

So everybody's right! Looks like we're trying to singlehandedly fill the PSD pool.

Nine delistings? Not counting the end of our first year where we had to drop 4 straight off, that'd be one of our biggest razor jobs.

Still disappointed for Ezard, I thought he went ok and had some genuine mongrel in him.

I remember the trial game against Richmond at the beginning of 1997, or should I say delayed trial game because Richmond missed their flight or something.

After that I can only think of us having internal trials at Alberton and everything else either played at AAMI or another ground for the Pre-Season Cup.

I remember one at Alberton v Melbourne. It was the first time I saw Bishop and he was zooming up and down the ground like some latter day David Dench. He did it again in the real game during the year ... until Barney broke his arm ... ;)

and another member that is too gutless to post the truth about Bishop.

why cant people post the friggin truth. You bag him all season and suck up when he is sacked.

The truth is that he was bloody awful the last two years. It doesnt mean that we shouldnt congratulate him on what in reality was a fine career for our club. 100+ games and a premiership.

Ezard Im semi shocked about. Mainly that weve delisted him but kept Ware on the list. Ezard improved a massive amount this year but I guess in my opinion he was probably the least likely of our kids to make it.

That 2004 draft is looking pretty average at the moment.
