This bloke should be captain!!
He leads onfield and off. If cotchin has another below pat year it's jack turn next year.

Couldn't they just make it a 6-man leadership group to include Jack? I know some teams run with the 8-man leadership group and it may seem ridiculous to have so many, but I don't think it is ridiculous in our case considering that Jack is a passionate player.

On the topic of Cotchin as a captain, I'd keep him there. Being a captain is much more than how you lead onfield (although it is the main role you have). It is also about setting an example off-field and how well you gel with your teammates. Off-field, Cotchin seems like a well-behaved guy who doesn't get himself into crazy situations often.

Also, the fact that none of our star players left while he was captain (even though they could have) and voted him in shows me that he genuinely has the support of the playing group.

We'll see how things go this year though. I do admit though that I have been wanting Riewoldt as the captain for a while due to his passion, but I do understand the decision of the playing group and club to keep Cotchin there

Pat is a good leader.

Jack is a leader. We desperately need more on field leaders in tough situations. Please more step up and take this role. I want 10+ guys to put their hands up when the going gets tough and take up to another level.

Have always seen Jack as the general up forward and he's really growing into being a seasoned leader. He hit the nail on the head that he doesn't need the title to be seen as a leader. At the end of the day, it's just a title and all players, especially the senior ones should be prepared to step up when needed. Would have to just about be next in line to join the leadership group IMO.

As for Cotch, I genuinely feel he is growing into the captain's role. He seemingly has the confidence of the playing group and if they are supportive of him and his leadership, I don't see why it would matter what anyone else thinks.

Jack would be a good vice captain and lids should have had the gig ages ago. Poor decision by the rfc to give Cotchin the captaincy so early. He needed more time to just focus on his game.

Jack is the captain we deserve, but not the one we need right now. So we will keep him off the leadership group, because he can take it. Because he is not our hero, he is a (not so) silent guardian, a watchful leader, a dark knight.

Not sure he's even next in line. Since the year players didn't vote him in, we've had a few players come and go from the leadership group without Jack coming back in. As he said in the article, it doesn't mean he can't be a leader - and I think he's a pretty damn good one, it just means that there are others that the playing group looks up to more than him.
