Their slogan could be: "17 seconds slow... We get things close enough"
I thought that as well... But the one on the fence there is from a replay, cos Gaz is lining up to take his shot on the inner shot

I was directly opposite the bench at ground level - both teams would hold up time left, five, four, three, two, one-thirty, one. Not sure I spotted the thirty second. Once you see them though, there is nothing left to the imagination. Should just have the clock on the screen - maybe turn it off with a minute to go

Yes good idea, I thought that too. I think when Channel 10 had the footy they abolished the countdown for last five min?
My late grandfather was a timekeeper for Barwon for 20 years, in my blood to question why it's such a secret.
You can sort of get an approximate- how many goals kicked, injury, review time on.
Flashback though- My stomach just rolled again reading your countdown.;)

How's the little blonde campaigner with the chicken wing 'tackle' on Dangerfield. First all the staging and bullshit and now intentionally trying to injure players. One day a player is gonna knock his block off if he keeps up this behaviour

Noticed when watching replay Sat night, thought Danger had injured his hand, but no one said anything, so play on.
Then it comes out.....where is the AFL? Oh yeah, finals and a Ginni "persecution" complex.
Sneaky little dog, the footage is pretty unclear, but apparently Danger complained (to his club) and that takes a bit.
Need cameras up their shorts.

Holmes is flying under the radar massively at the moment. Not many talking about him.
He was absolutely brilliant on Saturday and has been for the last 2 months.
Every game he is growing.
He provides so much to the team.
Just in that ebb between waves. The first wave where everyone is shocked by how good he is off the bat, now the ebb where he is slowly building. The next wave looks to be the one where he steps into elite mid territory.

Great rational point. He's coming from a way back re young footy experience, so further upside is enormous.
Gun for speed now, but gelling further with the team, goal kicking, positioning and maturity and he will kill it .

Watching the last quarter right now before work, the commentators were adamant the JDG deliberate wasn't the right call. Since when are you allowed to have a clear kick and hit it 60m to the boundary with no teammates in sight and it's not deliberate?
I feel like everything they said other than Daisy's occasional insight was completely worthless. Ginnivan takes an obvious theatrical dive and "he gets nothing" implying that would've been umpired differently for other players.

Dangerfield needs to practise handball skills under no pressure and also under pressure. He seems to resort to the forward flick pass under pressure. He was lucky not to be pinged with 1 minute to go in the game after he ran to mark his own fluffed kick that went 20 metres high and 15m long and briefly had possession of the ball before flicking it forward with both hands. Had he been pinged for a throw the result of the game could have been different. Not to mention the 1m handball to Stengle running in front of him towards the forward 50 that went straight to ground. A great breakaway scoring opportunity became a turnover.

This is the AFL - throws don't exist.

I otherwise agree though, he often did a good job to get to the ball but his little flick handballs were misplaced. The few he did hit released us well.

Such a little turd. Would love to see a Frasier Gehrig or a Dermott Brereton just flatten the little shit. Knock some sense into him. Just a cheating, niggling dickhead. Ballantyne-like.

“What a game. It was the most high pressure game I've seen in years, just 4 quarter of relentless high pressure. They looked like two premiership winning teams out there today, I wouldn't be surprised if they are here in the Grand Final."

So I've watched the game again a few times (for alternate radio commentary), I think we went better than most of us assumed during the game.
I saw the opening quarter not as "typical Geelong shitting the bed" but more a full on pressure team bringing heat that we hadn't had for a long time (we did have a pretty soft run in).

So at the game, I agree - there wasn't any pants shitting moments as such. But there was tentativeness. With the ball, we didn't run and create options or run past for the handball.

But yes watching again even the players that had poor games didn't look as bad. It was a good hit out. I was hoping for a big win but in a way that would just have represented an extension of the soft H&A run.

Have you found alternate radio commentary still available to stream or download?

Exactly my thoughts. Our run home was as soft as it gets.
We were always going to start slow.

I would. I think their coach worries they've played their grand final already - hence the comment about them lying down on the ground. And our coach is on record saying their style is "very, very hard to maintain".

I could be wrong, but I think they'll find it hard to put in another good performance next week, let alone next 2 weeks.

Yes we were definitely stifled for the clean hand pass more than usual. The slippery conditions suited them better, I think we'll be better on top of dry ground going forward.

Three replays later and I say they ignored Holmes/Duncan/Miers streaming free into the goal square too many times. Holmes the most was able to get away went unrewarded at the top of 50. Always electing to hit up the Hawk/Cameron pocket instead. Close made a shocking decision to bomb Hawk that lost us a certain goal and needs to lift eyes.

One of Close's worse games imo. If he plays to his normal level we kick another 2-3 goals.
