Been a while since a team has scored 125 against us hasn’t it? Daicos brothers 62 possies between them. Inside 50 smacking and woods completely outrun us… Bews decent on Eliot , Sav fixed McStay, other than that no real winners for the cats. Disappointing night and good slap in the face…

It's been about 26/27 games since it last happened

Further to that point, I do rate McCrae as a coach and the Pies definitely needed a fresh voice.

...but if you look at the last 5 years, 2021 is the outlier. They've been a finals and top 4 quality team every other year.

The guy has clearly got talent, but he's not the messiah some have made him out to be.

Totally agree with this. The core of their side - Pendlebury, Adams, Sidebottom, De Goey, Howe, Maynard, even Cox - was within a kick of a flag five years ago. McCrae seems a decent coach and a likeable person but he hasn’t taken a rabble to the finals, he’s gotten a good to very good team back on track.

Yeah and we still only lost by 3 goals.

Give us a full and fit team and see how we go.

Can see that the Pies saw a glaring problem (clearances and contested ball) and got Mitchell for minimum chips, he’s a big difference makers, we’ve lost our captain courageous, there is something we need to find to try and get that level of intensity back.
They gave up Ollie …. I think they would rather have kept Ollie. He’s gonna be a 10 year 250 gamer.

Absolutely right, we could be looking at a pretty young side next week.

It'll be a tough week at the MC. I'd personally give SDK the week off against probably any other opponent, but with Curnow, McKay and TDK he might be forced to lace them up.

Stengle should be okay. Looked like more of a stinger than a true injury.

Stewy will miss, I think it's a likely MCL? Looking at 4-6 weeks there.

Tomahawk will want to play, but wouldn't be surprised if the MC gave Neale a crack. Still performed admirably, but was just lacking fitness and the niggle doesn't help.

Just feel that after the success of Danger last year, the club will be really conservative with injuries.
Hawk I think was more fitness than niggle.

If Stengle remains proppy I would say O.Henry plays his role but with a bit more height and less crumbing.

Hopefully De Koning is okay because his injury and half-convincing return tipped the scales into us not being too assured back there. In an emergency situation Blicavs may have to step into your backline.

Kolo in soon hopefully will help.

Bowes we need for run and skill too.

SDK has had that knee strapped since the first preseason game and hasn't moved anywhere near as well as he did last year. Might be a good idea to get it fixed and not just try and get him to play through it.
Saw this a few weeks back. Concerning… movement isn’t anywhere near it was last year.

When the team gets smashed in possession and loses the tackle count to boot, it's a torrid evening.
The only silver lining is the fact we still managed to kick a decent score.
Let's face it - we're nowhere near our best right now and we won't learn much from so many senior players having poor showings.
What's more concerning is that not many others stepped up.
Holmes I thought looked dangerous at times and Henry was at least in the thick of things. But some of the midfielders who are not guaranteed starters like Parfitt and Bruhn didn't do a lot to impress tonight.
Sav is one of my faves and I really hope he gets a good run at things in the new role. He did some really promising things tonight. That spoil from behind in the 4th from a low bullet pass was elite.

Ours mids were poor.
Guthrie one touch first Q.
Tanner was soild then moved out of the guts.
Was right in it till the last Q poor last Q .
We're prob behide a few teams fitness wise.
Pies put heaps of pressure on .
We were up at times but failed to kick away from them.

Very busy at the G .
Lots of people not in thier seats at first bounce.
People from the GA area looking for seats that were not there.in not GA areas.

Was getting shitty at people standing in the way .

Only rd one .

Stew inj suxs tho.
Parfitt very poor.

Incoming oppo fans "Chris Scott is the biggest sook eva", even though he is absolutely spot on.

Having Ed Sheeran come and play at the G for it to be completely shredded and then having to re-lay new turf weeks out from the start of the AFL season is an utter joke, absolutely incredible!!

Anything for $$$ though.

Premiers always tend to celebrate for a few weeks and fall behind the other teams regarding fitness - this showed in the last quarter. There were some good signs - it's very early days. A few outs + a few injuries on the day didn't help. I'm sure the crap surface contributed to the injuries :(
Hmm we have anyway! Dees were 10-0 last year…

Home at last. What a great game of footy for a long way. We ran out of puff. We will get them next time.
The pies very good- fit and fast and have added some good players.
A long way to go but it’ll be fun if we can have games like that against them regularly.

I'm so ****ing sick and tired of playing these games at the MCG. It was their home game tonight, the inequality makes me want to give up on AFL like I've done with the A league since the Victory fans ruined it for me. Not using it as an excuse, just blows me away how ****ing bush league the AFL is having teams from a different city having to host home games at the opposition stadium.

Having worked at a smaller Premier League club for some time while growing up a United fan, there's nothing better than having the small but vocal away support of a bigger club when playing at a smaller away stadium. The home fans get their chance to be the big boys for a night and the lucky few away fans that get a ticket make it absolutely electric.

Tonight was just toxic bogans swearing and making the 'noise of affirmation' for the pies.

Rant over.

Sensible and measured comments from Scott. Good on him.

Loved Swan! But different game styles from last night to tonight… definitely better eye candy tonight but who knows in the long run which team will be best from the quartet…
Yeah grain of salt stuff.

I thought Carlton and Richmond were poor. But then tonight I had Mick Malthouse and Cameron Ling go on about how good the skills of both teams were, and I'm like "that's because there is scant defensive pressure"

Yeah I really like O'Connor's game so it's tricky. O.Henry was good minus his one brain fade but I'm not sure we absolutely need both he and Rohan right now. Bruhn as a pure stoppage player I'd say we do need. But he probably can't afford his next game to be weak.

Tanner intend is great .
Would be harsh if he was dropped.

But yeah he has to play well to stay in
