This thread is a tribute to Chad's career at Port. Share your gratitude and memories here. Any posts about the trade or the politics of the decision will be deleted.
We drafted Chad at pick 6 in the 2011 draft. He was a ray of light at a very low point for the club.
He enjoyed a solid first year without starring and received a rising star nomination in R22 of that season.
It was 2013 when he exploded onto the scene with his now trademark high leaps, tricky side steps and natural ability to bob up and kick goals. He won the B&F and was picked in the All Australian team, not bad for a second year player.
His goal in the final Showdown at Footy Park will forever be enshrined in Port Adelaide folklore. His 5th goal with less than a minute to play clinched a memorable comeback, Chad rightfully claiming the Showdown Medal.
There were plenty more highlights to come.
He won mark of the year in 2014 for this screamer.
And sealed a memorable finals win against Freo with his 4th goal, capturing everything about his skill and athleticism in one unbelievably clutch piece of play.
He won his second All Australian guernsey in 2015 and led the club's goal kicking in both 2015 and 2016.
In the last couple of years he begun transitioning to a midfield role, something he was always expected to do. He showed great promise in this role, especially in the second half of this season.
We have lost a player that most of us would have expected to play his entire career at Port Adelaide. The anger and resentment felt in other threads highlights what Chad has meant to Port supporters. People watch football to see players like Chad showcasing their talents. It's sad but we have 7 years worth of memories and highlights.
All the best for your future at Hawthorn Chad. We wish it could've been different but it's not to be. We still love you mate.
