That won’t be happening. Scott has already alluded that Henry will move back.
Crameri will come in to support Hawkins being double teamed.
Henry will get Reiwoldt
I would do that as well but I don’t know if Crameri is fit. He’s had a groin issue so would be at least a test for this week.

If you think we can beat Richmond or make a GF doing what we're doing then fair enough, i can see why it makes no sense.
If you don't then why not try something else for a game?
What makes no sense is repeating the same things and expecting different results.

Only if you believe that past results are guaranteed indicators of future outcomes.

In truth it is impossible to do the same thing in footy - too many things will be different between two games. But I don't think we've been far enough from Richmond or a Grand Final to mandate significant change.

At least in the short term I'd rather we ride it out and play in a style that our players are trained with and suited for instead of try to break the mould for fear of a few past results.

They really shouldn’t need another defender to come in. Blicavs and kolo can play key roles with hendo playing an intercept role. Touhy, Bews and Guthrie will play on the others. Stewart is a big loss because he plays multiple roles down back. But they should be able to cover him.

I’ll say it again. Tigers are a small forward line. We don’t need another tall in. If Henry is in fact gonna go back, bring in a small player who has pace and tackles like a demon. Who can roll up through the midfield and use the extra space the G provides. Henderson will take Jack. That leaves Kolo to take he next tall that rolls through. And Henry to be 3rd man up, which is what Stewart usually does.
So the replacement is a forward, and hopefully someone mobile who’ll tackle and pressure.

So that’s Jones or maybe Crameri. Jones the better tackle pressure player, Crameri more experienced.
Actually jones in might not be a bad idea if henry goes back. But that just leaves tommy and menz who can take a grab. Ball came out quickly last time, but menz didn’t play and we struggled for forward targets inside 50. Is menz enough or do they want someone like crameri to come in? I can see the merits of both.

Regardless whether Thurlow's papers have been stamped or not he is the logical choice, watched his half of footy before he was taken off at half time last week, was clearly a class above, The trouble with Geelong is they are Backing there best 22 in regardless of form, as I said earlier Thurlow slots straight in for Guthrie, if they want to keep Guthrie play him in Stewart's position and leave Henry forward, lets wind back the clock, Thurlow was Drafted as a Half Back to replace Enright, as a Club Geelong has not given the Kid the opportunity, regardless of his injury, he is certainly over it, has had good Form for several weeks for no Reward.

You will get no argument from me on that.
But I doubt that they will play him now.

Playing the No 1 side in the comp and on any given week we rank between 4 and 10. Would be a boilover to win. Having said that it is obvious Scott is trying to play a more settled team as we get closer to the Play Offs. This has the effect of more consistency in our performance. With Stewart in I would have given us more of a chance also but I do NOT expect Hawkins to have as much of an impact in this game. If he kicks more than 3 will have played very well. Richmond will look to shut down Geelong and with our bottom 6 proven non performers in big games this will give the Tiges the Edge IMHO. I think we need to win 2 of final 4 and that is doable 70/30...winning 3 is 30/70 and winning 4 20/80. Like to be proven wrong but just cannot see Richmond being beaten by Cats next week. By the way I would put money on BewS getting more than 2 possessions.

Stewart out, O'Connor in. Keep the three pronged forward line and bring in a smaller defender. I'm also happy with House if we want to go a bigger option, but I dread it will be Jones in and Henry to go back.

Thurlow > O’Connor. Feel like House would be a good option if Kolo/Hendo were out instead of Stewart.

I’d prefer Jones in and Henry back over bringing in O’Connor for Stewart.

Ah yes, Zuthrie. Our specialty Richmond blanketer. Worked every time.

Rioli in the QF last year had 8 disposals, 1 mark & 0 goals - would indicate that Zuthrie went ok that night, especially when you consider he had 13 disposals, 5 marks himself & he outscored his opponent when he kicked a behind.

That's partly to blame on the fact that he is a Rioli, for every 3 goal 10 tackle, 20 possession game there is about 10 garbage games.

I don't think Thurlow is preferable to O'Connor. Jackson would be one of the later choices I'd consider for that role, tbh. Slow and a bit hesitant, reliant on using his skills in the face of a game that will be a contested slog at times.

Jones is a better player than O'Connor, though that's hard to measure for different roles. But he doesn't do nearly as much for our forward line as Henry does.

O’Connor isn’t much faster than Thurlow + is very hesitant too, or he’ll give a quick handball straight away whether that person is under pressure or not. Thurlow is the better option over O’Connor currently.

Hawk is in such sparkling form he’s gonna draw 8/10 balls in the air regardless of who comes in. Go with the small fast tackling machine

From what I've seen O'Connor is definitely quicker than Thurlow but more importantly has a much bigger tank (one of the best at the club). O'Connor's a much more natural defender too. I reckon Thurlow could be found out by the tigers forwards and I doubt he'd have the time and space to use his kicking effectively. O'Connor's done a thorough apprenticeship in defence at VFL level and almost every comment about him had been positive. He's been in the best quite a few times as a shutdown defender too. This is the perfect time to give him a crack I reckon.

It’s funny how only 12 months ago you put this down as a win because Richmond were our bunnies and just couldn’t beat us, but now we are all hoping they don’t torch us at the G.

We can match them, issue is for how long? When they put the foot down, and they will, are we good enough to hold the fort down back and then fire some blows goin the other way?

Ace Frehley?
Gene Simmons to tongue the ball away from the other side of the field?
Cute. Some jocularity.

Just do not see the sense in cutting two experienced defenders, who've helped us sustain a solid defence in lieu of Taylor/Hendo/Mackie/Lonners... and what for.. An inexperienced back pocket* and a small forward... Neither of which even remotely deserve selection.

You do realise this is a game v the premiers who haven't lost on the G in a coons age right?

*I've been impressed with O'Connor's improvement of late in the VFL. However, nowhere near selectable atm.
