Anyone calling for Dawson to be dropped doesn't understand football in the slightest. Was good. Contained their best forward to low percentage boundary shots when on him + contributed to offence.

Tucker probably lost his spot. Rozee tag didn't work.
You mean Tucker probably should lose his spot. I don't think they utilize Dawson enough. He can play multiple positions.

Tucker did a role and it was OK. Not good, not great, not terrible, just OK.

It's worth considering that 10 of those 27 came in the 4th when Tucker was no longer doing that role. Rozee also had 290m gained in the 4th quarter alone (in a total of 720m), and his touches were much more damaging. There's clear night and day from when Tucker was on him and when he wasn't. Is that enough to justify the zero touches? In a team travelling better probably not. For us? Maybe.

Clarko likes players that do what he tells them (see Stephens getting a run each week), so I think Tucker will be safe this week once again, especially if Curtis gets time off.
Thanks Darcy. I'm assuming you pulled up OK after not getting a kick. Flight home was good?

Another plea that is likely to fall on deaf ears is that Teakle should come in this week

He can come in for Darling.

He looks like he's well overdue for a spell - he's had very little impact in last few games. He's looking his age.

Apart from giving Larkey a chop out, it allows us to preserve X to go full bottle on Goldy.

What I saw of the Pies game, Goldy struggled to keep up and rising 37 he would have to be pretty vulnerable.

We've got to take these chances when they present

Tucker was literally just running around for 90+ minutes having no impact on the game. Shape it whichever way you want but he has to get involved somehow even if he assigned a player to try and nullify and he couldn't even do that well.

I actually think Curtis going out could be a massive opportunity for Zane. Here is a 3 week run at it to prove yourself in your preferred position.

I think where he will struggle is Paul major strength which is pressure.

So maybe you just give Luke Parker the role, he could probably maintain the pressure stats and hit the scoreboard.

Yep, would much rather give the role to Parker. I don't think Duursma has it in him to apply the required pressure. Our opposition will just be waltzing the ball out of defense at will.

Ideally I'd like to see Ford come into the side but he needs a game in the two's first after coming back from the hammy.

So Parker into the forward line, Phillips into mids.

OUT: Tucker, Curtis

IN: Phillips, Scott

If Curtis is cleared.

Out Tucker. In Duursma.

Seriously, this shouldn't be a discussion anymore should it.

If Curtis isn't cleared.

Out Curtis & Tucker. In Duursma & Phillips.

Sheezel to play Curtis' role.
I like it but who will play Sheezels role?

It's an interesting question, because pressure was a weakness of Curtis as late as last season. Shows it can be turned around with the right attitude and guidance.

That said, Curtis strikes me as someone who enjoys the tough stuff more than Zane. So maybe safer to hedge bets. So ****ing annoying when two of our coming three games are technically winnable

I mean, all three are technically winnable, in that they are home and away games of AFL men’s football in which the North Melbourne Football Club is competing for premiership points. If someone wanted to be a smartarse about it.

Oddly a bit of a slow turnstiles at the halfback. And I’m a fan. Not sure what the hell is going on
Yeah, this is kinda my point.

Is it half back? Well Colby, Riley and co. can pick up the slack. I'm not worried about finding Harry's 30 disposals and 1 score involvement in the back-half.

Paul's our equal leading goal kicker & our leading score involvements player.

I am much more focused on how we find Paul's front-half:
  • 4 tackles
  • 2 intercepts
  • 7 contested possessions
  • 2.6 goals
  • 4 shots on goal
  • 1 goal assist
  • 7 score involvements

Harry is just about the only player on our list that should be able to get close to these numbers.

If Harry wants to play in his preferred position, Harry needs to make the necessary efforts. He flat out just hasn't. He's set the bar high, and if he was anyone else we'd still be pleased with his season, but he really has dropped off.

It's not as simple as 'damaging forward half player, must play there.' Not if he's costing us more there than he is down back. And not if our main rebounder is a scuttling crab who thinks he's wearing the other team's guernsey

He's the VC now. Needs to take accountability for Paul's role both offensively & defensively. He has a better tank then Paul, absolutely no reason he shouldn't be able to play that role effectively.

FWIW some of his "efforts" in the back-half on Saturday left a lot to be desired.

What exactly is Sheezel's role this year?
Well we can only go on last week because it seems to be in constant flux. But he was mainly used as a half back setting up play while also defending. He’s play making was pretty good and I thought he defended well. Don’t think anyone in the side can perform a similar role. Fisher is closest but he’d be a massive downgrade defensively.

Goldy is a dildo leaving to play for that shit stain of a club. He probably would have gotten equal or more games here if he stayed and would have retired a true champion of the club instead of a 300 gamer that left for 'better opportunity' that never eventuated.
