The points against says otherwise. We play the game in our back half and I have NFI why. No other team does.

Probably because we have absolutely zero faith of locking it in down in our forward half and fear the bejeezus out of fast rebounding ball movement slicing us to pieces, while feeling somewhat comfortable defending while 30 blokes are in our defensive half of the ground.

I honestly don't know though. The gameplan is a mess, but when you consider the 4 big effectors of the season (injury list + depth issues, new coaching regime, gutting our new coaching regime, forwards being horribly out of form) I have no idea how to judge it . This season is unique, and headed straight for the tip.

Thinking Tarrant misses to prepare for Hawkins.

Maj rucks first 15-20%, shares 2nd tall with Larkey as both are a bit rusty in terms of games.

Walker on Walker and McKay on the resting ruckman. Pittard takes Lynch when forward.

After watching tonight's game, Melbourne's inability to run and spread off a four day break makes me think we are in for a couple of shellackings over the next four rounds. It's not like we've really got an option to spell players either due to our long injury list. Given our one goal effort against the Cats last year, we are staring down the barrel at a very low score in round 10.

Its actually an insult to our intelligence as supporters that we play a stoppage based game plan but most of the time in our defensive 50.
Which is what the opposition train for and generate a good volume of their goals from stoppages.

Meanwhilst our forwards have their dicks in their hands wondering what the **** is going on. Hell even the the defenders meant to be defending have their dicks in their hands. Mids too.

Coaches would love playing us because they know they can hurt us offensively. Why do we reckon all these senior coaches in the league took us apart so easily?

When it comes to the state of the list imagine having an AFL list with no quality small forwards who are able to implement the pressure needed in the modern game to be successful.
The clubs having a laugh aren’t they? Are they mad?

Then imagine having some of the worst half backs with poor disposal and a soft underbelly and no wonder we’re sitting 17th. The last six weeks has been nothing. There is a world of hurt coming our way.

Eh. I think this year will be our lowest point to be honest, at the very least in terms of the quality of football we play. Between the fabled warchest, draft picks, and sheer number of uncontracted players, we are in a really good place to rapidly fix positional weaknesses.

God we need to fix the half back situation though. I can't take it much longer. The small forward issue isn't much better, but it's not as grim or damning for recruiters comparatively IMO. This year those positions are just such massive blackholes of nothingness for us when it comes to any form of offensive ability, and past years haven't been a great deal much better.

Oh well. I'm Emotionally Checked Out :tm: for the rest of the season I think. With all the shit going wrong it that'sgone/going wrong outside of the current regime's control, I can't bring myself to get too invested in being emotional. That said, there are still a few things i'm looking forward to. Namely seeing Maj back on the field, and the report into wtf went wrong with our medical shit this year.

We got enough of a handout when they gave us Thomas for a couple of second round picks. It is on us to start turning some of these talented kids into footballers and getting the team to play a consistent winning brand of football, AFL House isn't going to do that. We have the talent to do better than we have been.
Heresy! Have you forgotten that the AFL has it in for us and that the NGAs are totally unfair and should be shut down?

If there's any year would want things to be **** up, would be this year.

Lot of long standing problems with the football department bubbling to the surface this year.

Hopefully with less of a commercial impact the club will make some tougher choices this year where they might not have under normal circumstances.

Resting on Sat doesn’t make as much sense as resting on Wed.
They’ve had a week to recover between games this weekend. So play the best team, they should be fit to play unless carrying.
If they rest Sat, then play wed, you then need to back again with a short break.
Rest the Wed, you get full weeks recovery.

I'm sure the AFL are as bemused as anyone at how we ended up with Thomas. They must have thought they were pretty safe giving us an Indigenous Academy in the only state where the entire Indigenous population were officially wiped out by white settlement.

Things can turn around quickly, the spine is the hardest thing to build and we seem to have it sorted, quick classy players should be dime a dozen..
Fingers crossed we start actually trying to draft a few.
I’m sure someone with half decent disposal, will wall straight into that team.. Perez, I’m looking at you kid .

Agree it is only the one extra game we are playing....

I don't like the concept of academies, not when you have the draft that is meant to be the mechanism that distributes talent where it is needed the most. Academies rely too much on luck, someone like Thomas was going to go first round without our help, the AFL should be doing what clubs are doing, they could hire more past players, plenty of guys who don't make it in the media or as a proper coach, many would be ideal to mentor young players.

We have profited from the AFL trying to seduce us into being a Tasmanian team, we should probably be thankful that JB was prepared to pull down his pants and bend over for Gilligan but that free ride is probably going to end sooner rather than later if the AFL follows through with their give Tassie their own team thing.

Looking how compromised the draft is going to be this year with all the academy players going early, you wouldn't want to be an ageing team that is flatlining mid table and holding on to being a mid-table team off the back of a handful of players, because your first pick is going to be as valuable as as second rounder. It is hard to rebuild in that part of the ladder when much of the talent is already predetermined where they are going and much of it to clubs who shouldn't be getting that kind of talent that cheaply.

They either have to go back to the U19 comp and expand lists significantly or the AFL has to do what it claims it does and develop talent themselves. NGAs highlight that they aren't doing enough.
