This game feels like a Grand Final to me because I feel like a spot in the top 4 depend on it. If we beat Essendon I’d be pretty confident of knocking off the injury depleted Eagles in Melbourne. Those two wins would have us 12-4. We then go into a really tough patch with Kanga’s and Ben Brown who’ll be tough for us to stop now, Richmond and Sydney away. If we dropped all 3 of them that could make us 12-7 before finishing Brisbane and Port in Melbourne and Freo away. All winnable and 15 wins and 7 losses. That was top 3 last year.
So again this is game is massive for us. It allows us to drop a couple in the run home and still be in a position to hopefully sit pretty on the ladder after round 23.

Think the same about this game. I really hope our finals opportunities don’t depend on our last game vs Freo.

This idea will annoy a few posters, but I think I will be okay with Rupert Wills playing as the 2nd forward. According to the Collingwood website, hes the same height as Mihocek(192cms). We know he loves to tackle, so the forward pressure will be there. I also feel like he’s a bloke who’s happy & willing to play a role. Hes also allows De Goey to spend more time in the midfield, and he can rotate through our midfield allowing De Goey/Adams/Pendles to spend time forward. Someone mentioned Jacob Townsend, and I see the comparison.

I think playing Rupert is our best option. I do understand it’s a different role, but this year is all about one soldier down, another solider stands up.

Agreed. If they won't play McLarty then I don't mind the idea of Wills and De Goey rotating between mid and inside 50.

Wills certainly deserves a senior game IMO. And having De Goey stuck deep inside 50 the whole time because we are lacking the extra big body in there... becomes a win for Essendon on the day

Somebody has to replace Mihocek who will almost certainly move to defence. Greenwood as good a candidate as anybody. Either way hes versatile..theres a spot for him in the 22 given the state of our injuries.

He’s a candidate for chf but he’s a certainty to be in the 22.

He will play and so he should. What role he plays is up for debate but he should definitely play this week after missing just one game with concussion.

The only other option is to rush Moore back and leave Mihocek at chf. Mclarty does not have the form to debut in a game like this.
