You said it . Core team that has made finals for several seasons. We have made 1 GF and won none. Every other team including the grand finalists either blood kids along the way or bring new players into team to renergise the team. Ours looked no different to the team from last 2 years. Silvagni was mentioned with others that have failed to cement spot over last 3 years. Does he and others that have been there a while makes us better?? Or do we start playing some others who maybe can have an impact, if given a chance. Smith, Collins, Langdon, Blakely, Grey, Yarran and others. Weller needs to stay and A Pearce needs to come in. Yes we need experienced players in team but we need to find out if these kids can play instead of going back to blokes who can't get the job done.A couple of points:
(1) This is the core team that has made the finals for several seasons running - in the home and away season this team has generally been very proficient at winning. So there was a reasonable basis for expecting that this team could win this weekend.
(2) Slivagni didn't play yesterday; pretty hard to take a player out of a side (or to even perform) when they weren't there in the first place.
lol at him also keeping in his fav Griffin.

Sandi in for Clarke
AP in for either Griff or Pav if he gets suspended
Silvagni in for Clancee
Langdon in for Suban
Blakely in for Barlow
Tucker in for Mzungu
If Jonno's right, then he comes in for Mayne
Of course barely any of this will actually happen this week but if we're going to go anywhere as a team, we need to start aiming for a side like this and sooner rather than later;
Tucker Dawson Spurr
Ibbo Jonno Sheridan
Hill Mundy Weller
Bennell AP Walters
Balla Pav Langdon
Sandi Neale Fyfe
Tabs Sutty Blakely Danyle
Tabs, AP and Dawson do the back up rucking.
Langdon for Weller is something I consider highly likely.Reading Ross selection
Sandi in for Clarke
Deboer in gu
Johnson in for c.Pearce
Done.
That be great change way we're going. After 1 game let's get rid of one 19 year old for another. Surely not.Langdon for Weller is something I consider highly likely.

I am not surprised with that , not ideal for some but ideal for Ross. That be great change way we're going. After 1 game let's get rid of one 19 year old for another. Surely not.
don't want Sandi as sole ruck. Griffin should play 2nd tall forward if Pav is suspended. A Pearce I am hoping is fully fit. If not, Collins should do what A Pearce did last season and play 10 odd games. If up to me , let sandi play as single ruck, Collins , silva , Langdon , a. Pearce all need to be consider.
Do we actually change game plan or we actually play like last year against Richmond. I don't think sandi in is a solution for long term.
Haha, what did the cat ever do to you? There are some players that are super glued to Ross's whiteboard.
Ballas, Mayne and Suban will never be dropped.
Everytime I see Mayne's silly mop of hair running in circles I want to throw the cat the TV. Everytime I see Ballas stuffing up again I want to throw the TV at the cat.
The team needs regeneration. Freo will inevitably scrap out their share of wins against weaker sides but matching the firepower of the Eagles, Hawks, Geelong etc - forget it.

I have a feeling Ed Langdon will be a chance. Whether that is just emergency time will tell.Reading Ross selection

I don't think Tab did that badly, he will score toward 3 Rd quater and 4 quater as long as we can get the ball fast inside 50 he will do well. But if we want to delay our decision making and look around then drop him to peel.I have a feeling Ed Langdon will be a chance. Whether that is just emergency time will tell.
I've previously made my feelings known re: C Pearce, but despite his short comings which were again on show on Sun at least he brought effort to the table which the same couldn't be said for many others. In saying that he was last in and with disposal efficiency at 60% along with Barlow (63%) both would be feeling the selection heat. I would like to see A. Pearce and Langdon both in along with Sandilands and M. Johnson (if fit).
Mzungu (dropped) and Z. Clarke (injured) the obvious outs for me. If A. Pearce comes in then I would expect Mayne (60% DE) and Tabener (50% DE) to be under pressure as Johnson/ Dawson can cover talls in the backline with A. Pearce to start forward and offer swingman option. Langdon brings good run and carry and played quite well for Peel.
Fyfe had DE of 53% and I can't see him playing that badly again. I'm sure Mundy and Spurr are underdone (after limited preseason a) so hopefully better for the run. Weller needs to get more of the pill but when he does it is gold so he stays.
In: Sandilands, Johnson, A. Pearce, Langdon
Out: Clarke, Mzungu, Taberner or Mayne, C. Pearce
Em: C. Pearce, Silvani, DeBoer
Ibbotson - Dawson - Spurr
Sutcliffe - Johnson - Sheridan
Hill - Mundy - Pearce
Weller - Pav - Walters
Balla - Tabs - Griff
Sandi -Fyfe - Neale
Barlow - A Pearce - Langdon - Mora
Out:
Clarke
Suban
Mayne
Mzungu
Clancee
Would anyone class any of these outs as skilled ball users? Or game winners?
In:
Sandi
Johnson
Langdon
A Pearce
Mora (If not fit Blakely)
In all seriousness do you even follow what happens at Fremantle? Weller the only mid/forward player in history to be assured of playing the following week despite only having five possessions, Mora to play despite not having joined the main group in training. Some basic research wouldn't go astray.
Agree with you on Mora. He is no chance. Not joined full training and is rookie listed not upgraded. However aside from that one (and I think Suban will stay), the rest is about right. In all seriousness do you even follow what happens at Fremantle? Griffin > Clarke. Clarke has no respect for Aussie Rules; I've rarely seen a player less interested or less able to read the bloke. He doesn't do anything outside of his immediate job of rucking. I think Griff is capable around the ground and can be a tall target – something seriously missed. Clarke is no good in the forward line; even his fans'll admit that.
Sheridan, sure, maybe, but the fact he was better than six others says not a lot. I don't really see a huge amount in him and Croz unfortunately. Their curve upwards has been minimal. I just don't ever see them as anything more than future Mzungu/Clancees. In retrospect maybe he gets a game. I'm still not big on the bloke.
Meanwhile Zu gets a game as he's more attacking than Suban, DeBoer, and can kick over 30 metres and doesn't take six seconds to seize up a kick (which is always to congestion and barely some beautiful long kick picking out an attack) like bloody Clanger (who I must say, I used to really like). This is why Mayne gets a game. Suban and DeBoer are in and under, tight players and that's something becoming less important in the AFL – plus them getting a game shortens the chances of Weller, but mostly Langdon and Blakely and the newer boys having a go.
The lineup I named is pretty backline heavy I say, and the midfield looks a bit shallow or something.
Unfortunately the team looks pretty ramshackle. Dawson isn't a hardcore full back – too inconsistent even in his peak, and by next season do we really see him as the immediate starter he's been? I really like Silva but his progression in the AFL wasn't what he should have been. A great, hard, capable full back at his best, but he's always injured and was here at the wrong time – constantly behind the perennial Lukey, and the like-for-like McPhee (big bodies yeah, but also their huge confidence-dependent game).
I dunno. Just seems like absolute patchwork.
