VB won't be a replacement for Shirley in the mid-field - he's an extra. :thumbsu:
 You mean we get to have extra players....that's great!!!!

Cmon Macca go out on a limb...who in order is going to make way for Knights, Vince, Douglas, Porplyzia, .....

Despite his obvious limitations as a player I find it incredibly confusing how an AFC supporter can't acknowledge and appreciate what Shirley brings to the table. How can you not appreciate one of your own who is willing to put his body on the line in every contest he is involved in. First in, last out, as a supporter, how can you not appreciate that. Unless of course you prefer the "outside", look at me look at me types. I bet your a big Jericho fan hey WW?
Iam actually a fan of Jericho ...remember how old he is!

I don't know haow many thousand times I have to explain this...Iam nor criticising Shirley - if you read my initial post in this thread and in fact any other post I acknowledge Shirley as he has been described....a blue collar worker.

But FACT if everyone wants these 4-5 kids to play FFS who is going to make way for them.

For the life of me no-one has been prepared to answer that question just simply criticising me because I am prepared to answer the question.

Do me a favour and look at the round 22 game of 2004 season and then tell me whether or not Doughty pulled out of numerous contests.

His attack on the man and the ball has increased a hell of a lot since then. Doughty of 2004 would NEVER go in for the hard footy the way he has for us so far this year.
And I can name a dozen players who have pulled out of contests ...we've all done it.....but don't "brand" the guy.

Hell Skippy's effort last season was far worse but never gets a mention here

Bit selective me thinks

Totally agree on all counts, he has improved out of sight in that area.

WW is indulging in some revisionist history if he thinks Dogga never had issues in that regard.
If they happened then they didn't stand out to me and I watch games pretty closely:confused:

Fair point. If you hung a player out to dry everytime he ducked his head in lets say a marking contest Simon Goodwin wouldn't be in the side.

so all our draftees are can't miss stars now are they?

if you think Knights and Shirley have anything in common, I am seriously going to re-evaluate you. don't see a lot in common with the other 3 either.

personally I think Clarke needs to give way, so we can get a game or two into Douglas.

Porplyzia and Van Berlo can do Shirleys role

And yes I agree Clarke should make way for Douglas (if trent can Richie can);)

I do - he'll be 22 in October.

What actually attracts you to him WW - his hardness?? His fierce tackling??

Perhaps we could play him at CHF or FF in place of the incompetent Kenny Mac??

I think you're onto a premiership winning move here. ;)

Pity we still don't have that human gorilla Ben Marsh as well. I'd be even more confident then. :)

I hope Knights stays in the team, he should do as he was Benny's replacement and he will be out for another 7 or so weeks.

Looked good in the last quarter especially :thumbsu:

the fact that we have 8 zillion injuries and the J word isn't even on the radar is a fair indication of where that little farce is headed.....

I still say it cost us a Wok.....:thumbsd:

Yeh I thought Knight was good yesterday, especially in the last term. There's no way he should be dropped back to the SANFL, it is pointless having him down there. Lets hope Edwards is back this week, and Skippy should be the one to go back to the Eagles.

He is similar to Burton in that he represents that difficult matchup of pace, height, and marking ability (abeit ATM he drops more than he holds)

For that reason and that alone the AFC and I will perservere with him

I'd be gobsmacked if that didn't happen

The only problem with that line of thinking is that Jericho himself is on the injury list with a bad shoulder ;)

I'm with WW, re Jerico.
He'll come good eventually, but for now he's off the radar.
It will take a long while for him to overcome the loss of the Wok.

He did play hard a couple of times so he can do it!

Its amazing how quickly people jump off. May I remind everyone of on Nathan Bock ;)
I remember watching Bock in the 2004 SANFL Finals. I counted his clangers, and I am not joking when I say that his first 5 possessions were all clangers. He was laughable. :D And now look at him, he's one of the most important players. :p

Anyway, despite this, Jericho is no good. I want him gone at seasons end.

I think we should rest the Captain.

Geez his hammies are tighter than a nuns.......

He just is not the same player he was earlier in the year.

I would also rest Clarke as stated before.

Ins: Maric, Edwards, Torney

Out: Clarke, Skipworth, Roo
