Changes for Perth trip *shudder*

Okay. Here we go.

Firstly, the easiest part of any coach's job, the cuts:

Bennell (terrible game today, needs some VFL time)

Ins:

Cheney (straight swap for Cheney)

I made this thread thinking that there would be a long list but that's all I can think of for now. We'll still get thumped most likely. Bate gets one more chance as he was decent in our last interstate team. He needs to learn how to mark the ball again though.

I think maric should not have been included in todays side. He wasnt that great.

I think we will go well against the Eagles this week. Having done okay against the Cats today coming up against a side that is more or less at the same level as us at the moment would be great. Especially with the return of Robbo!

Maric deserved to be included. We didn't pick him based on the future knowledge of his terrible performance.

Jetta got given 5 or so games without doing anything. Maric should at least get this week.

I wouldnt drop Bennell, anyone who is able to finish from 50 metres can be in the team. I think instead we play Petterd as a full time small backman so that Bennell can get an easier match up and be creative. Maric should stay because giving a player 1 game is no good for their confidence. So make no changes and play dunn as a full time forward.

But that aside i don't think that they should of dropped newton. Like you said Jetta got gievn 5 games for nothing. Newton has at least got experience and can perform on his day. He just needs to make that consitent and he cant being dropped into Casey.

When he kicks goals. and he has everytime he has played bar last week. I dunno. i guess it was good to get Maric into the side. but i just think Newton might have played better.

Bate unacceptable 2 week in a row from a nearly senior player.

Maric lucky, very lucky! Bennell has the runs on the board this season, and deserves a game in his home state.

McNamara top 5 two weeks in a row at Casey for mine, bring him in instead of Cheney because he is better suited to Subi. Bruce back into the midfield where he belongs, Dunn forward to replace Bate. Simple change.

One more week for the current line up besides Bate. Should make interesting VFL watching with Valenti, Bell, Bail, Whelan, Grimes, Jetta, Cheney, Bate, Watts, Newton and more all pushing for a game.

He cant kick a football firstly. Secondly he just waits for the ball to fall into his hands and acts suprised when someone punches it away.

Could be worse though, we could have drafted him at pick 8. ( Luke Molan all over again)

OMG. are you ******ed? Meesen is our number 1 ruckman ATM based on current form. You should leave this board with that lack of knowledge. And he also has great mobility for a big man. He uses the ball better than PJ and he played more in the middle today and got more of the ball.

Agreed. His first game back and he cops Geelong. Write this one off and let him start again against the Eagles.

Bate is a catch 22. On one hand I think he could do with a break (refresh) and a trip to Perth could be the game to keep him out of. On the other hand, bigger ground and WCE have a few slower bigger blokes, Bate could go ok.

Bennel is going alright IMO and the only reason he should be dropped is if his body is due for a break.

On of the reasons organisation/development suffers is due to chopping and changing. Bailey in some respects doesn't have much choice but to stick with a few youngsters regardless of how they are going.

Does Jetta come back in or is it too early?

Given the fact that Spencer, Meesen, Johnson and Jamar are all very average ruckmen so we are all gonna have different opinions.

I think we are better off playing spencer the rest of the season then Meesen , if Jamar was healthy i would not think Meesen would be in the side. I still cant believe so many people are seeing positives in his game when he has so many things to work on.

And people wondered last year why he couldnt get a game.

I saw today why he has struggled for so long.

I disagree, in terms of being able to create a contest around the ground Meesen wins hands down. ATM i feel spencer is a bit uncoordinated in terms of footskills where as Meesen has good footskills for a big bloke, and can hit up a target. And after watching him it would seem he has a big engine.

For weeks i've thought that Bate should be dropped and i know we would ahev a small fwd line but Jetta might play ok over there seeing he comes from WA. Same goes for Bennell he been playing pretty well and also comes from WA.

You need to earn a spot with Bailey.

Therefore, McNamara, Cheney and Newton would all be there or thereabouts. Straight swaps would be hard to find though, maybe Cheney for Bartram though he was servicable today. Dunn is also only iffy to keep his spot.

Bate would go, but I can't see who replaces him without us becoming too tall.

Still 2 weeks away from returning for Casey and then will require the typical stint for players returning from injury under Bailey of 3-4 weeks before they play him in the seniors.

I liked the look of Stef Martin down forward, was creative, set up a couple of goals. Needs to work on his leading a bit, but would like to see him spend more time down there.

Bring in Tom Mac, and play Martin forward all day. Bate needs to go back to Casey and find some form.

Buckley was playing for the Casey reserves I'm fairly certain.

Don't think they wanted him in the Casey seniors because he wouldn't have been ready to play a substantial amount of game time yet.

Possibly Casey seniors this week and then who knows.

Agree with Maric & Bennell, why would you drop Jones? He has been there abouts in all of our matches, today I thought he was extra good as somehow he actually managed to break packs open and go for a run.
