Embley has one more week to get his act together.

You boys read my mind. I'm sick to the back teeth of Hansen not putting in a second effort. Embley's still a prancer, but I'm giving him one more week to realise that the season has actually started without him before I really lose patience.

We need someone to run with the ball from defense. Scott Selwood was one of the only players to do this yesterday.

You are spot on there. Like when he took that mark in the third, at half back and fearlessly played on around his opponent. His and Eberts and McKinley's decision making was so much better than many of the seasoned players. He doesn't panic in traffic, he was a real positive I thought.

I am pretty sure that resulted in a goal aswell:thumbsu::)

This is going to be the biggest transition season its already obvious to see. You would think the likes of McKinley, Masten, Kennedy, Spangher, Ebert, S. Selwood, Jmac will all possibly entrench their spots in the side. With maybe Schofield and Houlihan all earning a couple of call ups this year as well. Hopefully this pressure from the young guys pushes a couple of the older boys to get back to there best as well. Only time will tell.

Hopefully Woosha can manage to sort out a best 22 before the second half of the season so we can do alright then.

If we are gonna play Jmac or Masten we HAVE to play them in the middle. Whats the point of putting them in the forward or back pocket when there are much better option in our younger ranks.

I agree, but it really only applies to those 2. Masten ain't a forward pocket, neither is J Mac.

If Army had a good game for Perth as I read earlier in this thread get him in. A forward who chases and tackles like that would be extremely handy ATM

I guess I'll have a crack at this. Due to Sydney's contested gamestyle with lots of ball ups I'd like Masten in there. Armstrong to be that extra small we need in the forward.

In: Kennedy, Armstrong, Masten
Out: Hansen, Fletcher, Nicoski

B: Hunter--Glass--Staker
HB: S.Selwood--Brett Jones--A.Selwood
C: Braun--Stenglein--Hurn
HF: McKinley--Kennedy--Waters
F: Amstrong--Lynch--Wirrpanda

R: Cox--Kerr--Priddis

INT: Seaby, Ebert, Masten, Embley

Or thereabouts, maybe some repositioning in the backline.

This is such bad timing. If theres one team whose game style we don't want to play against its Sydney. We have been getting killed by teams running off their half back and Sydney are arguably the best in the comp at this. Hopefully Kennedy can take a few big grabs and send em long to Lynch.

O and by the way did anyone see the passage of play where we ran the ball all the way from Defense to the 50m where i think it might have been Hurn who kicked the goal. Slightly promising and thats what we need to be doing a lot more of.

My team would be:

B: B.Jones------Glass----Staker
HB:SelwoodIV--Hunter--A.Selwood
C: Braun-------Masten-----Hurn
HF:McKinley---Kennedy---Waters
F: Armstrong---Lynch----Wirrpanda

R: Cox--Kerr--Priddis

INT: Seaby, Ebert, Stinga, Embley

IN: Armstrong, Spangher*
OUT: Fletcher, Hunter*

*Injury permitting.

We need some forward pressure, someone who can lock the ball in. McKinley and(surprisingly) Wirrapanda were great against the Dockers in this, but we need someone like Armstrong to chase and tackle.

Cox will play and the Match Review Panel wont even look at the Kerr incident.

Some of the senior players aren't performing so its time to give the youngsters a run.
Three rounds in and we're already hearing "play the kids!"

I thought we were innately different from clubs like Richmond. I didn't believe that it was just that we won more games.

I thought we were simply smarter, tougher and more professional. I thought our supporters knew this, making them different to Richmond supporters as well.

You obviously haven't been to a home game in a while.

Even when we're doing well half the crowd just bitches incessantly. It's no different here unfortunately.

Gunnar.....do you class Kennedy, McNamarra and Spanger / Schofield kids?

Cos THATS who I recon should replace Hansen, Fletcher and Nicoski:cool:

Reward fitness and form not reputation..........yes the kids need time to develop but a handful of games in 2008 is not out of the question surely????

Sydney are playing the kids now, slowly they're starting to cement their spots in the team, and if you saw the hapless games last year where we were the same stale team, you'll see a different one this year.

If Cox and Kerr are exclusions, then bring the kids in. How can you go wrong ?

Its not about playing the kids for the sake of it. We have far too many passengers at the moment and I for one would rather watch players who have a genuine crack regardless of the outcome than the garbage some of our senior players have dished up.

Out: Fletcher (absolutely has to go, pathetic attack on the football and will not put his pretty boy face on the line
Hansen (giving us nothing, agreed the delivery is ordinary but he over runs every time)
Nico (no confidence)

In: Masten, Kennedy and McNamara. Would also like to see the Banger given a run, BJ could use his aggression in the backline.

Leave Little Selly and Ebert, they will only get better

Okay this is my 3rd go at this for this game. With Cox injured likely and Glass likely to miss also.

In:

Wilkes or Spangher (to replace Glass at Full-Back)
Chad Jones (To replace Lynch at Full-Foward as he will be helping Seaby in Ruck most of the time)
Masten (Should've played in the derby)
Armstrong (Played well for Perth, is in our best 22 when fit)
Kennedy (Should've played instead of Hansen in Derby)

Out:

Cox (inj)
Glass (inj) Needs a week off to recover from injury
Fletcher (Out of touch)
Nicoski (Ditto)
Hansen (No need for him with C. Jones and Kennedy included)

Thats how it should be, hopefully our season will start from here.

I noticed that too at the 2005 & 2006 Grand Finals. Usually the eagles supporters at Victorian games are great, I guess because we so rarely get to see the guys play in the flesh. But at the Grand Finals, where there were a lot of WA folk down for the game, all we heard was whinge whinge whinge.

I'm glad I'm a victorian eagle, I'd hate to sit with you folk at Subi & watch games.
