Its not unusual for the club to stretch the truth on injuries. Anyone who saw Treloars reaction could see it was more than "cramp".
I haven't seen anything that suggests the CLub even tried to tell us anything it's not, they didn't even ice him and in fact were actually trying to massage him through it.

Eddie was quite open, best case 6-8, worst is we don't see him again this year. He even said it doesn't look great but he will wait until he sees the surgeon.

I also read that if you have torn a hammy theres no chance in hell you could withstand the pain of a massage. But Treloar did. So his symptoms were not usual, making diagnosis difficult. I also read the scans were not completely conclusive.

Agree, he was walking although a little ginger but getting around OK. Wait and see what the Doctors say. Hoping it's better than expected but no holding out for good news.

We already chose to replace the creative ability of Wells with a lock down defender in young Appleby who at this early stage offers little offensively.

We can ill afford to replace another of our most offensive players and one who provides genuine speed to the mix of our 22 with a predominantly inside midfielder.

Murray is the player who should come in IMO, he can play off half back with Maynard given his opportunity in the midfield and across half forward to replace Treloar.

If we want Sier or Brown in then replacing Greenwood is the more like for like option IMO.

Whatever the changes are, in: Murray

We'll need hisnpace witouts Treloars.

If Treloar is definitely out for sometime, then I would keep Greenwood and revert back to a more defensive game plan (which would be a real shame).

Hopefully we can overcome GCS, then maybe Varcoe comes back and then select one from Brown/Daicos/Crocker or give Sier his chance with Thomas taking more responsibility in the centre.

We need more pace . Wills and Seir I hope play at some point and it probably will be this week.
They are under pack players though.

We starting to look a little slow and less smooth through the mid without treloar- wells or varcoe.
We replaced 1 with Appleby.
I watched Murray play vfl and he turned it over alot which is so annoying because I really think we need him at the moment just to keep our dare and run going and keep our momentum.

OUT: TRELOAR, IN: ???

SAM LANDSBERGER looks at some Pie options ...

Adam Treloar has been Collingwood’s best midfielder this season.

The Anzac Day Medallist’s explosion and poise have helped guide the Magpies into the top four after Round 14.

But with Treloar facing possible hamstring surgery, who should replace him on the plane to Gold Coast this week?

Here are some options:

BEN CROCKER (pic below)

Crocker’s timing is perfect. Just hours before Treloar crashed to the MCG turf, Crocker booted five goals in the VFL. Crocker booted three majors in the second term playing as a deep forward and has already played seven games for Nathan Buckley this season. His selection would require a mini reshuffle, with Jordan De Goey probably needing to take on much more midfield time.

BRAYDEN SIER or RUPERT WILLS

Herald Sun VFL reporter James Mottershead noted these kids are producing big numbers. Sier, 20, is yet to make his AFL debut but is averaging 24 disposals and five tackles in the VFL. Wills is averaging 25 disposals and eight tackles in the VFL. The fans would love a look at 191cm onballer Sier, the No.32 draft pick from 2015, sooner rather than later.

TRAVIS VARCOE

The premiership Cat has not played since Round 10 but is a chance to return this week. The plan was to ease Varcoe back from a hamstring injury via the VFL. Could Bucks rush him straight in against the Suns instead?

This is a massive danger game now. Not confident.

el oh el

You people love your danger games.

Treloar would have been rested anyway. We'll still beat Gold Coast. Especially if Sier can come in and debut as strongly as Stephenson has. There's no reason De Goey can't play Treloar's role with someone like Sier allowing Sidebottom to spend more time forward.

The beauty of having a midfield as ridiculously deep as ours is that this kind of situation just requires a shuffling of the deck chairs.

Hell, given we're playing Gold Coast, Bucks could being really daring and try Sam Murray in Treloar's role given he plays in a very similar fashion. Their disposal efficiency would be pretty similar and it allows Murray to develop another string to his bow. If it doesn't work, bank the 4 points anyway and work something else out for the Bombers, by which time Varcoe will be ready to come back.

Don't stress.

Don't mind the idea of Maynard into the middle for Treloar.

Do we actually need another defender to come back in, though? It was questionable to bring in Appleby for Wells to begin with.

Maynard into the middle and add Sier to the bench.

OUT; Treloar, Greenwood.
IN : Seir, Wills.

Good opportunity to bring in Seir & Wills, Would love to see them both start in the middle .

Treloar is a huge loss don't get me wrong but it's an opportunity for someone else to step up and play a role in the team, With players hopefully coming back this will help fill the void. in saying that we are 1 or 2 more injuries away from disaster.

Wouldnt logic dicate that we do the following;
IN: Murray
OUT: Treloar

Play Murray across half back to provide line breaking runs with the occasional turnover Crisp makes and then Move crisp into the guts to create the line breaking runs and occasional outside 50 goals which he has kicked in the past?

I see crisp as a bigger yet less agile line breaker but could step up and play Treloars role, obviously not as good as Treloar but at least structurally we are set up almost the same.

Or am i wrong here, im not sure haha.

Greenwood got a concussion on Sunday. If he is out it will be due to that and is unrelated to Treloar’s circumstances.

The issue for me with selecting Sier isn't that he lacks pace, because he doesn't, it's whether he's ready yet to step up to the next level. I don't expect him to have a Treloar level impact in his first game, but how much of a drop off before we start to adversely affect team performance. Brown's the safer option given he's been exposed to senior footy already, but overall, he's just not as impactful at VFL level as Sier. Or is Crocker as a forward the way to go with Thomas and JDG taking Treloar's midfield rotations. Wills is more the Cripps type big inside mid brute and I'm not sure that's what we need. It's a vexing question.

This ^.

GC are an absolute mess of a team, they make Carlton look like world beaters atm.

Talking a team that has scored 1 goal in last quarters over the last 5 weeks...

A team who ranks 18th in EVERY statistical measure.

Except % where they are a lofty 17th.
