Those stats are all well and good, but the disposal efficiency of Reilly needs to be compared with one other factor - he is far and away the longest boot in our midfield, and sometimes it's worth trading some of the short range efficiency for a player who can just roost the ball long over a midfield flood, with relatively good accuracy given the length of the kick.
I agree that disposal efficiency is limited as a stat for the reason you mention. Not uncommon for defenders especially to get good efficiency with short kicks and useless handballs.
With regards to Reilly v Mackay, i reckon Mackay actually gains pretty good distance with his kicks and direct style of play. In fact, he really is a skinnier, better version of Reilly who will overtake him in a couple years with a few extra kilos on him. In saying that, it reflects my very high opinion of Mackay rather than a low opinion of Reilly. A fit Reilly without an injury interrupted year could be very damaging...but at present I'd go with Mackay.
