Agreed, but thats the way we roll and has been for a long time.

I ******* loathe it also.
Must have something to do with our psychological profiling pre-recruitment.
Maybe that why Cameron was dropped(I know he wasn't) because he could lay a hard tackle

Yeah I don't think dangers ever been a fantastic tackler, from memory he's the lunge and try and hang on with one arm sort of tackler.

Come to think of it, I dont recall many bone crunching tackles, bumps, sheperds comming from Danger in the past.

How did he go in 012? This year stands out as the only year in recent times that we tackled like an AFL side.

TBH I can't specifically remember, but he doesn't come to mind as a fantastic tackler, but hey he's in the majority at the AFC.

Either we're gonna get flogged or port will have an off week but beat us by a goal or two just like usual. Hoping for Hendo and Lynch to have good games tomorrow, We've missed their versatility all year.

Dangerfield might as well have a week off. Discussion re his tackling highlights he is an extremely one way player. Sure he is tough as nails and hard at it when in attacking mode, but there's no defence. Same with Thompson.

So who were the big names in the centre in the first quarter…they lost us the game with their pathetic ineptitude.

The leaders of our club hey?

It's probably because of injury but they are an absolute liability with ball in hand atm…Danger, Sloane, Douglas.

1. Rest the injured players.
2. Of those who aren't injured…this week one of them gets an accountable run-with role (Sloane or Douglas).
3. Laird the 2nd defensive mid. I don't wanna see him accountable for any of Monfries, Gray or Wingard this week in defence, they aren't dumb and will just isolate the midget.
4. Kerridge released to the HBF. We need another mid-sized option.

I'd rather see Grigg play HB then Kerridge

IMO it would be a great position for Grigg to gain experience at AFL level and use that elite leg of his

IMO regardless of form M Crouch, B Crouch, Grigg, Henderson, Lynch and Cameron are all have talent and afl weapons and must be played if we are going to develop as a side

Which means it puts selection pressure on Lyons, Kerridge, Martin, Radar, Otten and Matty J

I would also like to see Brown developed as a defensive mid and given that our season is shot start testing players like Atkins, Knight and even Batters in an AFL game to see if we can unearth a gem

It's time for a bigger picture plan and approach

Yes. Time to start thinking ahead at this point and prepare to make a run for next year. Better to fire with a bloody cannon in 2015, then go out with a water pistol in 2014 and barely sneak into the finals at best.

Anyway, for the Showdown
Bring in CEY. Who cares if his disposal is crap, half the team is just as bad, he'll add some size and pace to the squad.
Martin, you've been solid, and you still may have a career in the AFL as a depth player, but I think your time in the Crows tri colours is over. Same probably goes for Lyons since Sando has seemingly made it his mission to jerk him around at the selection table as much as possible.
Lynchy is in provided he gets through the SANFL hitout OK.
Hendo, same as Lynch, play him down forward if you have to, with his leap, he may be one of the few who can make some lemonade out of the lemon forward 50 entries.
Brad Crouch, if he's fit then he plays.

I just wish he wasn't another of the slow brigade but yes at least he can kick.

Maybe Kerridge HFF.

I can wear a slow player if he can read the play, be strong at the contest and executes goods decisions

Issue with some of our slow players they are also shit decision makers and don't have elite skills

I thought we learnt the first time around NOT to play underdone players. Henderson hasn't played AFL in almost a year, Lynch has played 1 full game all year and will have 1 SANFL game, Crouch should be playing today but was stupid.

Having said all that changes need to be made. Not sure how many or who comes in yet, to be honest no one was horrible which makes it harder. I see the same names being mentioned, Pods no, Reilly I think is nearly done but was good last night, Martin the same. Lyons wasn't great when he came on but should get one full game for a last chance even though IMO he doesn't have what it takes. Kerridge is an interesting case. Looks like he is lost currently and has no real defined role, poor coaching.

OUT

Mackay- Shame as he is reasonable nick.
Danger- seriously needs a rest, season is shot.
Martin- huge fan and it pains me but even though he is playing close to 100% its not quite enough.
Lyons- not sure I want him in or out but you know itll happen.

IN

Lynch- Hard worker with more polish than Martin
BCrouch- should be rollicked for his brain fart but HAS to play
Hendo- provided he moves well today and pulls up OK. Don't think he is quite best 22 but with DMac ??out there could be a spot
Atkins/Knight- either or its time to see one of them

Stupidly I think we can win, we wont but I fully expect to see what we have most of the year. Great effort with 1 quarter lapse, pick the quarter

I seriously think Ebert needs to be tagged. He is one of the best runners in the comp, uses it really well and is highly underrated.

Problem is (watching port yesterday) that Wingard needs to also be checked through the midfield and also forward, as well as Boak and Polec.

So basically we need 4 taggers.

As long as we are a ' mathematical' chance at the 8, Danger will keep playing.

It's disappointing what Dangerfield has served up this season because of his injuries and the club's inability to make the tough call and rest him.

The Port board is very strange and bitter, they discuss and rejoice in our failings more than their wins. Their non port discussion jumped like 7 pages last night if not more. They seem to know everything about our coaches/players etc.

I follow a Port bloke like that on Twitter. For every tweet he makes about Port winning, he'll make 3-4 about Adelaide losing.

I suppose there's fans on both sides of the fence like that though. It's odd behavior though.

So you completely ignore all his good work, which there was plenty of and then hound him when he got exposed by a good tactical move by the opposition coach, that our coaching box was completely oblivious too.

I thought we spent hours every week on meetings for "what if" scenarios, surely one of them had to be, "what if Zaharakis drags Laird deep in a 1 on 1 and looks to expose him?" We had no answer.

Just like we had no answer to Goddard tearing us a new one in the last.

Nor did we have any answer to Hibberd, who tore us to shreds early until he rolled his ankle.

It's also up to Laird to make a swap with another defender if he can't handle the match up.

I think its far worse on Ports side, when they were a basket case we weren't going on about it every week.

Just throwing it out there:

Would you take a 100 point loss next week if it meant that Trigg and co finally moved on?
I would take a 100 goal loss :p

Yeah 1 game (and against a good opponent) is nothing in the scheme of being able to finally change the club like that..

Good time to make changed and get quality back in the team.

We cannot possibly win this week so a good chance to get some players a hard game under their belt.

Lynch
Henderson
Crouch
Cameron

Get a game into these guys and they will be better for the run.

Bigger Picture?? What's bigger than getting in the 8 this year and go out in the first round! Just to do it all over again next year! WOOT! Cannot wait......

Personally let's ditch the tag this week and just go hard at the ball and play attacking.

Best game to do it in as we will actually play it hard and attacking. If we lose we lose but lets shoot it out and enjoy the game.
