Later this afternoon.

The bench is from: Knights, Douglas, Torney, Welsh, Reilly, Biglands, Stevens

So word is Stevens had been dropped. So it's out of:

Knights (Bye), Douglas, Torney (South Adelaide), Welsh, Reilly, Biglands.

Biglands and Welsh are certaintites.

So 2 positions are being fought between Knights, Douglas and Reilly.

Hmmm

Jason Torney is named for South Adelaide and Scott Stevens has been named for Port Adelaide unless Nathan Bassett doesn’t come up it looks like Chris Knights will miss out as the Eagles have the bye.

So the bench for the showdown looks like Douglas, Reilly, Welsh and Biglands.

If Douglas plays I will be wrapt. As you know I have been a great supporter of his since Day 1. Having said that - if he does play we should not expect too much. What he will give you is a bit of class when he gets the ball.

He is the type of player who once he gets the pace of the game will use the ball well and kick the goal when it needs ot be kicked.

If Dougie or Knighter plays (and I hope both do) hats off to the match committee for taking a risk and also looking for the future. We need to get some games into these boys now. Two or three years down the track they will be key players. Give them a taste and experience another game at home and when there is a bit of heat on in the kitchen.

I an now confident about Sunday's game. I thik we will bounce back. A little more youth and pace in the side will be a wonderful tonic for the other players. it will also place more competition for spots for the finals, particualrly if the younger boys fire. It also shows that the selection committee are prepared to take on the opposition and try to improve our list.

Bock back to the backlines is good. Perrie into the side will give us a bit more marking power. Knighter and Dougie in the forward half will give us a little more pace and crumbing ability. it also enables us to have more rotations through the middle.

Be prepared for some more changes ot positions as we try and improve our rotations and clearance and stoppage work.

The bigman has been asking this for weeks. Even it does not work I am glad the selction committee have had the balls to give these boys a go. Well done Craigy!

Personally, I hope to see Torney back in the side for this week. He adds much needed hardness at the ball, can be switched from back to forward if required and generates a lot of run. I think he is the missing cog in defence ATM and can only improve the balance in the side.

It would be very tough to ignore Knights after a 41 posession game, but I would still like to see Douglas first hand as he has also deserved a shot. It's a tough selection week, but it's time to start tuning for the finals and playing our best available team if they are fit. For mine that means Torney and Knights in.

just confirmed then on the radio that Richie will definately debut.. most of us had already worked that out though just by looking at the sides...

Yep Im excited for Richie.

Rising star nomination you bet.
$5 says he doesn't get a nomination - at least not this week.

NC has a habit of blooding the kids slowly. Richie will be lucky to get 20 min of gametime in his debut match. That said, he would be a fair chance to earn a nomination next year.

Sorry to be quoting myself, but congratulations AFC. What a shot in the arm for Dougie, the club and the supporters. How many Crows fans now go to the game with greater expectation.

This will have a positive impact no doubt and will give the Pfeiffers, Meesons of the world the knowledge that if they play consistently well they will be acknowledged.

I have not been this excited since Rehny, Jonno, Goody and Macca made their debuts.

I hope Neil's not too conservative with him. Would like Dougie to see a decent amount of game time.

Probably depend howthe game goes. if we are tearingh them apart in the 2nd q, he'll no doubt get more game time than if it's a closeun.

That's what I was thinking. If it's really close he won't get heaps of time, unless he comes on and goes beserk. But if it's a flogging either way he may get an extended run.

Thanks lads. As with most teams, I see pacy, hard at it GENUINE midfielders
( not HBF/HF types ) as our priority in this years draft. We also desperately need a promising young KPP who will be ready to go in two years. Obst is miles off being AFL ready and Gibson appears to be Kruger MarkII.

As much as it's great to see Doulas get a game, i'm disappointed Knights isn't playing. With so many being down on form or lacking concistency over the last 4-6 weeks, surely Knights 40 odd possession/2 goal best on ground performance deserves to be rewarded.
