Listening to bicks and Rowe it sounds like Greenwood is no certainty.

Jesus.
Not sure what Bicks was looking at but to me Greenwood moved pretty well and completed the full training...90% chance he plays imo, especially if it's wet.

Hugh is an inside beast and I know we have guns in Sloane, M Crouch, B Crouch but any injury could occur on the day and I desperately want the 4th genuine bull in the mix to combat Martin, Cotchin and Co.

I will forever have nightmares of the Hawthorn clearances when it mattered in 2012 and I'm backing Hugh to perform when the heat is on...he is a winner.

Im still having nightmares over those cheating maggots who missed/incorrectly adjudicated 12 free far king kicks!o_O

Vickery getting 450k a year to spud it up in the afl is being overpaid.

500k :)

Jenkins getting 525k a year to be an important part of the best forward line in the afl is money well spent.

We know how badly you called it :)

The reason you like JJ is that you think small forwards don’t have to do defensive work ;)

They are however still worth 6 points. Amazingly The same exact amount as every other goal.

And he is about 7 foot tall and pinch hits in the ruck ,even centre bounces to give sauce a 5 min break.

And there we are, one logon to another

Shouldn’t you be making observations on games you didn’t watch?

Whoever comes in and who stays in we have to back the club. They have now got us into a GF, not the time to start questioning selections

Some will miss out some will earn a chance at glory. The spur for those who miss is to make sure we make it again

Hugh has been clutch in winning clearances in several games that I've watched. I think he'd attend more stoppages if he had a better tank.

Can we make a separate thread for Sanders vs the Rest about JJ? Dump your B&F stats and scoreboard impact there!

Unchanged for Saturday. Bring it on.

Go the Crows.

It’s not “the rest”, it’s a small number of inattentive, foolish observers allergic to evidence and reason

Take comfort with them if you like ;)

Surprised Jenkins doesn't cop more criticism. Been very annoyed with him at times in both finals.

There were a couple of times vs geelong where he was double teamed. Hard to win those contests- fair enough. But he just doesn't hold his ground and make the contest. His body disappears in between the two defenders, and he's reduced to a feeble one arm attempt. Easy turnover to geelong.

Tex won't win many of those in the air, but his body work gives him the chance to compete, draw a free, suck two players in to the contest, or bring the ball to ground.

That's what you need from a 200cm key forward.
Jj isnt Tex but one thing with Tex is he gives a shit load of frees away.
We have the best forward line in the afl, who cares who kicks the goals. They all work well together and they will mot possibly keep all our forwards down. 1 will always get of the chain. Jj works really hard and deserves his place

If we weren't so tall Greenwood could contest the centre clearance then drift deep forward (not high half forward which requires running +++) ala Blighty's move with D Jarman.

He would be a nightmare for Richmond down there.

We would then have Tex or Jenkins pushing up the flanks/wings for the transition mark instead of Otten.

The 22nd man could then be another running player (Milera or Hampton).

I'm sure we will go unchanged but this is the alternative which doesn't really affect our structure (Greenwood replaces Otten in general play) but gains us extra speed.

Lower leg/calves are pretty important in the explosiveness stakes. Hugh had hardly any impact in the recent final because he wasn't able to "explode" into or out of contests, due to injury.

If he's not right, we should not play him.

Is there any word from the club on the time and place of their final training session on Friday morning in Melbourne? Also whether it is likely to be a closed session, or open to the public?

This hasn't been listed on the website as yet, but I understand it may be at the MCG?

NikkiNoo posted a video from Fagan. In that he was asked and he mentioned that due to security issues that it will be closed from now on. ie the reason for the open today

Closed session.

On Jenkins Sanders is 100% correct.
Nope. I'll back Tex's view of JJ over sanders', every day.
With inimitable negative hyperbole, sanders talks about jenkins as if all he does is stand in the 15m goal square, or thereabouts, and only kicks goals that are fed to him over-the-top.
I was merely pointing a case for the "Joe the Goose" goals are a reflection of either the midfield's hard work, or that JJ himself is actually doing the hard work to get to free space. Anyway, "easy goals" are not a reflection of his contribution, there is more to JJ than goosey goals.
.
He's right. Two examples:
In another QF thread, I discussed in detail only one of the JJ goals where he's on the end of a run of play that he started from a contest (bumped a GWS player to the ground) and tackle, ball spills to Knight who handballs to Gov who kicks forward of a sprinting Betts, with JJ hare-ing down from well past centre on a 70m sprint (and third effort) to kick the goal.
JJ (tackle), ball spills to Knight (handball) ==> Gov (kick) ==> past Eddie (handball) ==> JJ, goal.
From the PF. (17:45 left, last quarter) Selwood has slipped an attempted tackle from JJ who left his bloke to lay the tackle. Selwood's kick is mongrel-smothered and bounces out to Lynch who handballs to JJ just outside the 50m arc.
If sanders is 100% correct, Jenkins would then selfishly take a shot at goal on the run, but no.
JJ spots Eddie about 30m away and kicks to him, while he and Atkins both run on. Eddie handballs to Ratkins who's being overlapped by JJ who gets the handball and kicks the goal.
Lynch (handball) ==> JJ (kick) ==> Eddie (handball) ==> Atkins (handball) ==> JJ, goal.
Eddie was only 30-odd metres out and could have taken the shot. Atkins was on the run and could have also.

It's team football. JJ's a part of it and endorsed/trusted by Tex/Pyke (good enough for me), and the Crows do it best.

They are training on the MCG and it will be closed. As per Fagan's presser today.

Gov another hard luck story like Smithers. :(

Doubt we will make any changes, but IMO we are have too many talls, given Richmond are a far smaller/pressure team compared to the Cats. Personally I would bring in Hampton for Otten, but we know Pyke likes a stable 22.
