I'ved bolded your statement/question. It becomes a misleading question when you're applying your preconceptions about Jenkins. Jenkins polling "badly" is another way of saying "he didn't poll as well as the others in the team".
If I was foolish to go along with your leading question, then I'd say "cos Jenkins is shit".
If I was to twist your question around, then I'd say "cos others in the team were judged to play according to the gameplan better than Jenkins"
And to clarify for other readers, the coaches don't just judge Jenkins for goosey goals, but many other factors eg. tackling, goal assists, pack marks, playing to team structures. However we agree or disagree, Jenkins is deem to be important by the coaches simply by the fact he's continually selected whenever he's fit and available.

Don’t like the question try and change it huh?

Sorry, no. duck, dive, shirk, dumb it down all you want, the point is simple and unavoidable

And we don’t agree to disagree at all, it is a fact that he polls badly with the coaches.

so when simpletons like yourself try to talk about how others are less informed because you know how valuable what he brings is, the simple truth is that you are wrong.

Goals are not enough and despite his goals his performances are judged by those who matter, as no more than average at best.

Some context: JJ kicked 63 goals last year and finished 14th in votes per game in his B&F. Ben Brown (a real forward) kicked 62 goals this year, finished 3rd and nearly won his B&F.

Plainly JJ’s goals aren’t rated as highly as you think.

So don’t swan around pretending you have secret insight when your perspective is less not more than the norm ;)

Your context regarding JJ vs Brown has some merit, but not a very good analogy. JJ ranked 14th in BnF whilst kicking 63 goals last year because we have many other better players, simple. Ben Brown got 62 goals and finished 3rd this year in BnF because he played in a team of spuds this year, no standouts amongst the team.

You got to stop using the BnF as the sole argument of how good/bad a player is. It really is a matter of relativity amongst other players and playing according to team structures. Here's something to wrap your head around...you can play a personal best year, improvement in each facet of your game, be a reliable and effective contributor to the team...and still be ranked 22 in BnF.

Personally, I don't care where a player ranks in the BnF. I just care if they're contributing to the team, and help the team wins games.

Sanders continuing his custom of critiquing Jenkins as we march further into grand final week.

I love this board.

Marvellous contribution to the board there.

Think we all learnt something new.

Perhaps you might just type: goals goals goals over and over in a coloured comic sans font? ;)

Hilarious.

The whole notion that you can judge contribution better than the coaches is way, way out there. For any of your alias accounts ;)

Surely if Jenkins finished 14th in our B&F then he is considered a solid contributor? What am I missing? Seems about right. Would make him top ten at most clubs.

The guy isn't a star but what other side in recent memory has a fourth (after Tex, Eddie, Lynch) forward of his calibre?

Sure. Dmac is a solid “contributor” who isn’t a star either. Can’t imagine why more isn’t made of his contract and those who overrate him ;)

I've noticed a pattern whenever you run out of things to say to me, you always end with a "for any of your alias accounts". Feeling the heat of a debate? ;)
Where did I say I'm judging better than the coaches regarding JJ's contribution? I was merely pointing a case for the "Joe the Goose" goals are a reflection of either the midfield's hard work, or that JJ himself is actually doing the hard work to get to free space. Anyway, "easy goals" are not a reflection of his contribution, there is more to JJ than goosey goals.
Being 14th or even 22nd in the BnF is nothing to feel ashamed about. It just means you belong in the best 22 and there are others playing better football than you during the year.

There will surely be enough people at the open training this morning for second by second Mitch McGovern updates. Im ready for them.

Sorry this is not a debate. It’s not you that I’m transmitting to ;)

If only there was a way to check what was posted and then quoted in response?

If only...

So now you’ve changed your mind, JJ might be a good player (works hard) or he might not be (takes JTG gimmes).

Glad you’ve cleared that up. :p

Mind you given I’ve never heard of a 62 goal forward being rated as lowly by his coaches so just maybe we have an inkling of which way they lean? :D

Move the goal posts any further and they’ll be on pinky flat

14th or 22nd for a 62 goal forward is a shit result in anyone’s language. Unheard of even

It tells us a great deal about what else he brings other than goals and how those goals marked up to him are valued

It just means you belong in the best 22 and there are others playing better football than you during the year.

See and there we are, full pinky flat goal posts moved. Relocated to a different (goal) post code even

Best 22 is a long way from the hype some pretend of him. A long long way from someone who demanded a long term, big money contract

At best he’s a good ordinary player who we massively overpaid out of panic. The new Dmac.

And it would be really, really good if he could ****ing turn up to a big game for once. A grand final would be a great time to show he can handle some pressure. The big spaces should give him a chance too

They are however still worth 6 points. Amazingly The same exact amount as every other goal.

And he is about 7 foot tall and pinch hits in the ruck ,even centre bounces to give sauce a 5 min break.

I love McGovern, think he's a star, you can find quotes of me saying offer him 8 million for 10 yrs if that's what it takes to keep him, having said that..

Even if he passes the fitness test would you (everyone here, not just sanders) play him?

I think it's far to risky. I think he's no chance of playing personally but if the unexpected happens and he gets up I would be very nervous we are taking in a player likely to ping his hammy in the first 5 mins.

Should know more on both Gov and Greenwood today from the main session, If Gov makes it Otten has to go, if Greenwood doesnt, hampton should come in or will we see Gov in Greenwood out

Hampton would have to be the luckiest SOB to ever grace a footy field if Greenwood didn't come up. Milera's speed would be a bigger weapon, especially forward.

You don't have 1 week off with a hamstring strain, Otten will play IMHO.

Vickery getting 450k a year to spud it up in the afl is being overpaid.

Jenkins getting 525k a year to be an important part of the best forward line in the afl is money well spent.

We know how badly you called it :)

Tom Chadwick on twitter reckons Gov moving well and barrelled one from 50 and thinks he is a good chance.. Push him hard today, if he gets through it play him, like someone earlier said, if he doesn't get through at least he gave his all.

Sounds promising, for me it's not even how he goes today but how he pulls up tomorrow.

Hamptons pressure against a team that applies an enormous amount

Personally if Greenwood is out I would go Hampton, Greenwoods weapon is his pressure we need a replacement. If Greenwood is unfit and has the potential to play like last week then he is out no question
