Hansen should go onto some absolute Spud (or the closest thing you've got to it) as his main strength is intercept marking, rather than actually stopping a good player. Firrito is better one on one, arguably. I would play Hansen on Schoenmakers, and Firrito on Gunston.

Clarkson would be licking his lips.

Hansen would be a decent match up. Gunno is a funny one, he has the height and marking ability of a key forward yet roams around and is more wiry like a flanker but make no mistake about it he is a key forward for our footy club.

Apparently both Hansen and Thompson are under injury cloud, so may not even play. As is Ziebell.
Not looking good for us.

Little birdie tells me Black and Bastinac have already been told they are out for Wood and Dumont.

Hansen, Thompson (not sure what happened here?) and Ziebell all to undergo fitness tests. Ziebell unlikely to play.

Make of that what you will.

Adams is jumping up and down with joy. Can we seriously afford to drop Black, bring in Wood (to play blacks role) and expect him to perform for 4 hard quarters after a 5 day turnaround against the hawks?

On the plus side, the hop up bar should do a roaring trade as we drown our sorrows.

I've always said we need to aim to win every week, not make expensive statements. But the combination of our injury list and last week's "effort" makes me feel like I'd rather see wannabe players busting a gut this week than our "best available" side limp through it.

Either way, I will be there cheering and hoping for the best, unlikely result.

If Hansen and Thompson miss, surely Petrie plays back.

Surely.
Shirley might send Black back too.

Might be the week Brad's 'roles and structures' mantra gets chucked out the window due of circumstances. From triple towers to single medium rise apartment perhaps?

If this happens we have zero chance of winning

Lachie was only soreness, he's a tough boy, he'll be right and if it was something major with Thompson, we would have heard more surely. Have a little faith ladies and gentleman, we're shinboner's.

And how will we kick a score?

A raw as f*** forward line containing Maj, Brown, Wood.

These blokes have all actually played together before and may actually function.

How many AFL goals have they kicked between them this season?
If this is what we put out against Hawthorn of all sides, it could get ugly.

May not have a whole lot of choice.

It's a pretty good theory actually. What are the chances of seeing black petrie and wood line up in the same forward line?

Sorry mate, but without having any understanding of the diagnostic approaches of the medical team, nor the extent or detail of the actual injuries yourself I feel it is extremely short-sighted to be blaming the medical staff for the slow healing time of the players, especially given their previous track record.
Wells was a freak incident so we can't pin that on anyone. Il give them that. What luck that he cops this after having to be on blood thinners 2 years ago :(

Grima is one you can't pin on the player. We knew his history and we knew he had to be managed but his body can barely handle 2 months of afl footy, let alone 6 months.

We hardly saw Tarrant all preseason and he just wasn't doing much running at all. I'd be interested to know from November last year to June this year what progress was achieved that decided to pull the pin on his year again. That is more than enough time to get a player healthy or atleast address the problem.

Garners hammy was a bad one but I've never heard of a 20 week hammy strain. Usually 3 monther max but 5 months does raise the eyebrows. It is unprecedented so il cut slack there.

Delaney is in the same boat as Tarrant in how a toe issue cannot be solved that a whole year has to be written off and it still remains unfixed.

Curran is curran.

And Macmillan was initially a 4-6 weeker. It has turned into a 16-18 weeker. Slow healing or not that's just a massive **** up.

My point is Tron and neither I nor you know this but as soon as a player becomes injured the rehabilitation process starts from the moment of impact. A player will do their darn hardest to get back to 100% health and maximum fitness.
If they are being given unrealistic or incorrect timeframes for rehab, this could be having an adverse effect on their bodies and their ability to quickly heal.
Hence the timeframe to healing gets pushed further out, maybe due to stress, maybe due to damage reoccurrence of the injury I don't know.

All I'm assured of is none of these boys would have expected to be on the sidelines still at this point in time after having done their injury. That's the issue.

Sam Wright highlights on nmfc, oh god no, that means he's likely to be in the side. But on the plus side Mason's highlights are there too.

Wells shouldn't have played against Collingwood IMO. Thompson and Hansen are vital if we are to have any chance

Hawthorn had Kyle Cheney playing as a full back for half the season.

It just proves that if you dominate the midfield, the defence is not so vital

NORTH Melbourne coach Brad Scott may be denied the chance to make a ruthless selection statement by the club’s lengthy injury list.

Scott said he had run out of patience with some of the team’s underperformed players after their shock loss to Brisbane Lions last week and vowed to take a tougher stance at match committee today.

In the gun for tomorrow night’s clash against top of the table Hawthorn are versatile forward Aaron Black and hard-running midfielder Ryan Bastinac.

AFL UNDER FIRE FOR OVER DAW SEX CHARGES

But with as many as 14 players either injured or under fitness clouds, including Lachie Hansen and Jack Ziebell, Scott’s hands may already be tied.

Key forward Majak Daw, who has been charged with three counts of rape relating to an alleged 2007 incident, is also unlikely to be called up into the Friday night spotlight after a quiet game for Werribee in the VFL last week.

Key pair Ziebell (knee) and Hansen (soreness) must pass final fitness tests today to receive clearance to play the Hawks at Etihad Stadium.

Defender Nathan Grima (foot) and marking forward Robbie Tarrant (leg) are both sidelined indefinitely while slick midfielder Daniel Wells faces another fortnight out with foot soreness.
