Changes Next Week

I would like to see us play Batchelor, Conca, and Helbig for at least the next 5 weeks. There is players I want to see come in. I think we need Moore back ASAP. I would also like to see Post, most likely used as our Sub. If Gus had been more injured when he left the ground tonight we would have been stuffed. Post offers a bit of versatility to the line up. I think Connors is in the best 18 and should start on the ground. Nahas can't be dropped on tonights performance. I think the players to go would be Houli, because he is a little soft. After that Rance or McGuane would probably go for Moore. I like McGuane but I think we need to give Rance a lot of games to see if he can get it together. We need to remember it is not about now but the future and some of these players especially the young guys need to be given as much game time as possible. On a side note from tonight, how good is Jack, if he was playing for Carlton tonight he would have kicked at least 10 goals.

I thought Rance was actually pretty good. Yes he got caught, but there was no-one even in place for him to dish it off to.

missed tuck, martin and cotch and co were flat early. tuck still needs to play.

I think we missed Tuck: there was precious little 'hard shoulders' within packs or breaking through congested play at half back/centre. A Naha's role with the ability to bump.

OK...Rance has no footy smarts. Show it tonight on many occasions. Has no awareness...gets mown down from behind. Takes no pack marks. Is a bad kick. Doesn't play tall, doesn;t play small and doesn't take on the medium forwards.
Is that OK?

Bit harsh on Rance for getting mown down by Betts in the second quarter. After he had competed well, won the footy and had broken away Betts came from behind the pack and got Rance from behind, just as Rance was looking for someone to give the ball off to. Would be persisting with him for the next few weeks at least.

Yeah Houli had such a good game kicking the ball everywhere instead to a teammate.

Statements like this are really annoying especially when Houli registered only 1 clanger for the night from 18 disposals. Surely if he was kicking it everywhere except to a teammate, his clanger count would have been much higher.

I think people are a bit harsh on Edwards. Bad game tonight however top 6 finish in the B&F last year and most improved player. I also thought Rance was good tonight a lot of pressure back there specially the first half.

People calling for Nahas to be dropped have NO IDEA.
If it wasn't for he's second quarter we would of lost by 10 goals.
We were scared coming out of defence and couldn't get past Carlton's zone... Up steps Nahas with a "fcuk this" attitude and starts side stepping carlton players like they were witches hats. Next thing you know the whole team gets the same confidence and starts taking the game on.

Now I am no fan of either Rance or Nahas but based on last nights game they stay next week. If anyone needs a rest based on last night its Lids. He was well below his best and made a couple of shockers including the failed 10m kick early in the last qrtr. That gave the blues momentum at a critical time.

I would go into next week unchanged. I wouldn't however have a ball magnet like Connors on the pine for over half a game though.

King to replace Titch

Tuck to replace Batchelor (Although I thought he was good in patches) Tuck should be used as the sub if Harwick thinks the game is too fast atm, he could come in when we need and provide clearances.

Thursty or Moore to replace Rance (did some god things) although I feel he has no awareness, he is not to far off Jarred Oakley Nichols in the respect. He may improve but I get nervous everytime Rance has the pill.


People calling for White and Nahas are blind.. Nahas chased and harrased all night, he was influential and as for White, he didnt get a heap of the ball but stuck to his job of shutting Yarren out of the game.. Get a clue guys.. I also like Helbig, he will be a great footballer, and special mentions to BIG Gus Graham great game mate.. OH and how can I forget Vickey selling the candy on the wing, was great to watch.

The problem with Rance is that he has tunnel vision. This makes him a liability for getting run down, and also for making poor choices with disposal. It does, however, make him a very courageous player for smashing packs with eyes only on the ball. A bit like the Kellaway brothers.

Unfortunately he has a bit of the Gaspar "run in circles" disease.

I think he is not a good choice in the backline unless we are playing a team with a very poor forward line. He was (IIRC) drafted as a wingman. He might be a good option there where his height could cause mismatches and his turnovers may not hurt as much.

We missed Tuck tonight.

I'd like to see Rance out for either Moore or Thursfield.
Tuck in for any of the mids who don't pull up.

Although it's easy to be critical of Nahas (he is a bit like Rodan in that he looks like he is doing more than he actually is), he did enough to stay in the team. Wont play every game this year, but can't be dropped on that performance.

Don't bring Tuck in. Let our midfield get fitter and they'll start to shine. I'd barely make a change. Maybe bring in Post or King. Rance and Mcguane were pretty good. They only really made 1 error each. First game of the season they'll improve. Helbig, Conca and Batchelor impressed. Nahas, Jackson and White played well so I would barely make a change. Edwards was a bit quiet

I wouldn't be surprised if there were no changes as our worst players were some of our best in Deledio, Martin etc. Maybe Edwards out though.

Although Nahas is small and gets pushed off easily, he creates space for us. Is in good form. Rance was good enough and we should continue to play him.

To be honest I like Nahas. He has a bit of ability and can still go the right way. I'd keep him on the park but not in positions where he is outgunned. he is talented boy who is not really up to the cut and thrust in the warzone. Keep him outside.

Nail, hammer, head. Spot on!!! That's why so many clubs bypassed him when he was expected to be go in the to 10.

People calling for Tuck to come in next week need to stop right now. Dimma stated he won't be coming into the side until Round 3 or 4.

I am far from nahas biggest fan, and I still don't think he will make it, but he took the game on and gave us every chance.

Edwards was poor but I still cannot work out how he gets out of packs sometimes. It's amazing.

But for me the worst 2 players were Newman and deledio. Our only 2 players who have played 100 games. Newman was cut up by betts and lids couldnt get into the game coupled with that screw up in the last that caused a goal. Also cotchin and Martin struggled to impact the game, especially in the first half.

We do not move for our backmen tho. We are so stagnant that we kick long to Vicks and Gus. Who are 3 on 1. I've also noticed when we kicked long it's more often to Carlton players advantage. Side note Vicks was pretty good, loved the Judd holding the ball.

Houli was okay, but defensively terrible. Didnt run both ways.

Conca, bachelor and hellbig all had great debuts and did things that made you stand up at points. Obviously made mistakes but the good far outweighed the bad. None of them should be dropped unless fatigue or injury comes into it. Games games and more games!

Rance was fine, needs games to really see if he can settle.

We are a very young and inexperienced side the 3rd quarter showed what we can do, but it's still a while away. No need to jump down the boys throats at the first chance

I am a big fan of Tucky and was suprised he wasnt listed, but i tend to agree, really need to develop rest of the midfield and get them up to speed. Conca did some good

I would give Tucky a couple of weeks at burgers playing fwd, then see if he cant play tall and rotate thru the mids when he comes back in to the 1s.

Will be a handy tall straight kicking target, provide some pinch hitting when Gus is loping around off the ball and toughen up in fwd stoppages, and provide relief for mids in general play.

Hell lets just make him a crown and make him our King!

on that, I cant wait to bring in Kingy, too. Wouldve loved to stick him to Murphy last night.

after next week there will be some required changes when we get shown up vs actual quality.

Dissapointed in playing ill Foley - no reason he couldnt have get up to speed in the 2s

plusses; Rance and Tyrone didnt completely suck, stick with em! And Whitey did some good things too.

Not a Nahas fan but he "did things" tonight - made opputunities, broke lines. McGuane was rock solid in the first half when it kept coming down there.
Houli was a downhill which was disappointing, quiet when we were getting smashed and then everywhere when we were up and about
Edwards was shit

Pretty dissapointed with Deledio, Martin and Atsbury aswell.

Rance was awesome a little bit of awareness will come with experience but he will be our long term key back.

Batchelor was by far the best 1st gamer. The others did good enough to play next week.
