**** no. Half our senior players can't run out a game, I don't want a kid who has just come off covid junior preparations and now glandular fever. He can wait his time in the VFL on return, and that's for his own development.

I know Stephenson is meant to be a murcurial type but he just does not seem match fit. You could tell this at quarter time. He has no confidence. Take him out, give him 4-5 weeks to cane it in the VFL.

CCJ. Hmm. It’s an awkward potion to be in with Xerri being in good form, but I just don’t think we can carry his height atm. I felt a little sorry for him at times - the few times he got involved, the umpires or his own team mates effed it up.

Zurhaar is a strange one. I was hoping he would be really stamp himself with some good play but just couldn’t string two possessions together. Our HF is as pus as it has been for the 4 years so that when we have dominance in the clearances or from half back, our game plan just dies as there is no one to take control. Larkey had a mare and I thought was played way too deep. He should have leading right up to the centre and allowing our hbs and wings to create a flow. Instead it just got rebounded. I know CCJ was recruited in part to stem this, but due to his size, he can really only play deep if not rucking.

Until we create some control across HF, we will be getting caned by most teams.

Edit: I was really disappointed by Thomas. I would think a player in his 5th season after a strong ‘21 would want to back up what his protege delivered in his first game. The play on the wing where he had a paddock and could have run forward to launch a bomb from 50 but instead effed up a dainty kick speaks volumes. Really needs to work on his second efforts and getting into the game more. Shit, launch him from HB and drag his opposition forward. There was very little lateral thinking from the coaches.
