Didn't Carr (or one of the other coaches) mention that Dante as a youngster played in Defence ???

If that is true .. would it be worth having him play on Thilthorpe (to go with him into ruck or the middle when required) - ruck man v ruck man .. and if Thilthorpe places midfield Dante follows (2 rucks in the Centre vs 2 rucks in the Centre)
this might be the move that the cows coaching team isnt expecting

have Allir on Tex ..
have Marshall as the intercept marking option (with flog out)

and as small defenders have Farrell, Bergman & Jones

I’m worried that they are saving themselves for their bi-annual gf but without watching the game it looks like the crows once scary tall forward unit barely fired a shot all day today statistically.

Thilthorpe doesn’t seem to be anywhere near the level he was at last year.

Tex has had some nice moments this year, but has been missing for huge chunks too.

Wouldn’t be surprised if we get spanked here. Crows coming off a poor loss, us getting a sniff of our own farts, and how poorly we matchup on their forward line….i can se it happening. I’m really worried about this too.

2019 we had a suprise win against Geelong and then got fleeced by the dogs at home the following week.

Even that win at Geelong in 2024 was backed up with us half asleep for a half against the hawks before coming back from 40 points down to win at the death.

After The 112 point mauling of Sydney in 2024 we just scraped across the line of Melbourne who were dogshit at that point.

Even last year when we should’ve won the first showdown and played well we came out the next week and were obliterated by the cats.

They also historically treats these games far more seriously than we do.

Would be nice to change the recent script.

Wehr is average but he runs all day and gives us good structure behind the ball. I don’t mind Lorenz but his tank is very average. Out of all the games this year this is the one where I don’t think you drop Wehr

The Crows have a 5-day break. Their tall forwards are not "on" at the moment.

Against Geelong, who also have a tall/good forward line, we had only one tall. I assume we will get Marshall back, probably for Watkins.

The ball barely got down to Cameron with our all-team defence.

I am confident we are in with good a chance to defend Carr's 100% win Showdown record.

Not sure who we play on Thilthorpe but in my opinion Aliir isn’t a good option.
Aliir is great if allowed to zone off etc. he’ll get killed in a one on one contest. Crows will try and isolate them and potentially have a field day with it.
