Stupid question and not right thead, but why is Doug Nicholls Round played over 3 weeks? the name suggests a round/week.
I believe it’s called ā€œcommercialismā€

I would think you would find Croft would be the preferred option but he is struggling to get a kick in the VFL and looking like his development has stagnated.

Obviously the club thinks Smith isn't up to it, so if Emmett is pushing him out of the side then unfortunately I do not see a spot on the list for Smith next year based on team selections. It wouldn't make sense.
Ruckman frequently get several years to develop. Think some people are forgetting that Smith is 20. He could easily sit on a list playing vfl till 23-24 as some ruckman do.

Could well be the case, highly doubt it would be with us when we bring in someone younger, way less developed and not even their best position ahead of him

Don’t mind the changes/suggested changes. Intrigued to see who plays wing if Davidson, Baker, and Williams are out. Williams has been one in the past who can run with Langdon as well as cause him grief in the air.

Ultimately, unless our midfield pulls a rabbit out of the hat & improves fitty billionty percent on last week, this week will be a struggle.

It depends on which Melbourne we face... the one that beat Hawthorn last week or the one that got belted by Essington in Gather Round!

In my opinion 200cm ruckman will not cut it in the future. With the centre bounce ruck rules it will be 205cm plus. People like Darcy and Reeves will be the norm. The coaches know this already.

Langdon has been taking Salem's spot off of half back since he got injured and been doing quite well. Tholstrup been on the wing when not tagging a specific player.
my guess would be a mix of bramble & jacques, with pending who is dropped, one of baker, davidson & mcneil. Would love Freija to just be left on the wing all day.

What I'd like to see

R: Smith

INT:
Hynes *Rotating on ball HFF
Khamis *Rotating Back
Bramble *Rotating Wing + HB
Carmichael *Rotating Wing + HB
Croft *Rotating Forward
I read R: Smith as Rourke Smith. No idea why. I thought - he hasnt played in a few years. I know bevo loved him but surely not. Then clicked.... derp.

Lobb will take gawn Croft will take there second ruck in heath
Lobb was dead by the last quarter as he had to take 80%+ of the ruck contests and broke even with Pittonett (won total HO but had less HOTA)

He isn't Tim he needs at most a 60/40 split meaning someone needs to be able to go in and compete for 40% of the time at a minimum Emmett clearly can't do this nor can Croft

As per Heath he has a 46.4% Ruck contest win percentage and has had multiple games with 35+ RC he will also be too good for the skinny Croft and Emmett

At the end of the day a tired Lobb is still our best ruck option without either English or Darcy.

Smith hasn't exactly proved himself at either AFL or VFL level to be a valuable player yet in his career. He's only 20, there's no shame in that, but we've seen what we've seen. Smith hasn't been that good of a player either.
