Just on numbers & experience I think Colyer is worth considering. Looks like he played well today. Couldn’t possibly be worse than Shultz has been for many weeks now.
Give Corbett or Emmett a look for Banfield.
Worner must be close & NOD has been terrible.
I doubt Kuek gets a chance but I’d love to see it.
Wilson deserves opportunity too.

I actually dont understand how you can prefer to keep Banners tbh
Maybe that's your opinion, which everyone is entitled to

You asked me same question at start of season and it's annoying. Let people have their opinion. Doesn't have to agree with yours

That's not a question. It's him stating that he doesn't understand your opinion, which is fair. Neither does anyone with half a brain cell.

Ahh yes, on the discussion forum, I shall not engage with anyone's opinion I dont agree with. I am not stopping anyone having an opinion

Walters COULD have done more, he could have reached for it and held it and ultimately gotten tackled because in that extra second it took him to do that the GWS player would've made ground. He shouldn't have had to do break his stride to collect a handball from 5m away.
That was one play in a pile of garbage. Why does he have to hit every target and not make any errors when the rest of the chosen golden boys can screw up all day. How many targets did the rest of our midfield miss today. Most of our players missed targets all day, but the Sturt one is the one everyone is obsessing over. Drop everyone who missed a target then.

In: Darcy, Aish
Out: Banfield, NOD

Sturt stays on. 4 shots from limited supply and horrendous quality of entries is a decent return, plus tackles/pressures on the defensive end. Hell he's played only half the games Banfield has and matches the goal scoring return and almost has the same tackles for the season. Added bonus is it's a no risk situation if we can sink another 4-5 games of development into Sturt - the upside and talent is there, easily has the best forward nous behind Amiss in our young forwards.

NOD's in dire need of a spell, so Aish comes in straight for him. Henry also worth persisting with, far from our worst today and showed some positive progression at least.

Selection integrity is different if a player is omitted for structural reasons or because better players are coming back. Erasmus' performance earlier in the year didn't warrant him getting dropped, but with players coming back he had to be the one to make way. The only way Sturt keeps his spot that makes sense structurally is if Freddy doesn't get up. This is already under the assumption that Banfield gets dropped.

Amiss, Treacy, Jackson, Walters, Switta, Schultz, Freddie. Already quite tall for a wet game.
Selection integrity is dropping players that don’t contribute no matter their name or previous form. Switta, Freddie, Shultz, Banfield all pathetic the last two games. You keep them ahead of Sturt, you are not selecting on form, you are selecting on reputation. That is not selection integrity. They should go back to Peel and earn their spot like Sturt had to.

Gee that's a good post. Are you lost.?

Posts that get annoyed at someone expressing another opinion or wanting someone to explain further are baffling. Joins a discussion. Someone enters into discussion. How dare you discuss...

Because the rest of the chosen golden boys have played dozens of games with good or above average performances that justify their place in the team. This is literally the first game Sturt has ever played where he's been present for more than 5 mins of the game.

Sturt is one of the first that has to come out purely because of structure, hence why everyone is calling for him to be dropped. Was he our worst on today? Absolutely not. Was he good enough that his place on the team is safe once Darcy is back and Jackson and Freddy return to the forward line? Absolutely not.

Do you want us to talk about dropping Serong, Brayshaw, Young, Amiss, Clark, Schultz, Erasmus, Johnson, Cox etc. who played dogshit games? Obviously not because all of those guys have shown so much more than what they have today. Meanwhile that was Sturts "best" performance and even then it was mediocre at best.

Sturt barely earnt his spot. Plus he's not competing with those guys for a spot bar Banfield or maybe Freddie. He's a tall that plays like a tall and we already have 3 talls next week we don't need another one. It's not hard to get it through your head. Find me a single team all year that plays 4 talls in their forward line. Now find me one that plays 4 talls in their forward line in the wet. You won't. Because it doesn't happen.

His supposed pressure and defensive capability that people keep talking about is incredibly overrated.

Those wonderful performers you keep talking about are all over the place and are allowed to get away with a lot because they have been written into selection with pen not pencil irrespective of performance consistency. Switta isn't doing much up forward and could play more midfield or even help out on wing to allow a good performing forward to stay in. Longmuir is doing a Connolly. He has decided four years out who will be a best players in which position in 2026. Trouble is it didn't work out that way for Chris. Things change.

They will be coming with confidence. Have the type of forward line we will find difficult (although this season that has been most weeks), and another big bodied ruck.

I imagine the betting line will be close.

A poor start to the season and a poor start post bye. We also start each quarter poorly. If we give Essendon the first quarter we hand over a large portion of the home ground advantage as they build confidence and our crowd isn't in the game as long. Concerning.

Maybe you are just wrong.

I would love nothing more than to be wrong about Sturt and his future in the AFL. I'm just waiting for him to show me a single sign that I'm wrong. He hasn't done that yet at all.
Well he did today under very difficult circumstances. If what the rest of them have dished up in the last two weeks is enough for them to keep getting a game then Sturt is certainly good enough to be given more opportunity. It wouldn't worry me if Switta played elsewhere on the field. Banna's shouldn't be a lock. He was required to chase this week and he was as slow as. Freddie could spend more time up the ground. Sturt only doesn't fit into our structure if we refuse to be flexible or have carved names into stone, three years out.

Yes we get it you don't like Sturt, like a broken record. Any chance you can post without mentioning him?
Generally when I reply to a post I liked to discuss what's written in the post I reply to. That's how these things work. This is a thread dedicated to selection changes. Am I not allowed to discuss my selection changes for next week?

Once Sturt has shown he can play as a small then there's room for him in our forward line. We play 4 talls and Essendon will walk it out even easier than GWS did today. As simple as that.

Yes it's monotonous to read 9 posts in the last 2 pages bagging a guy who had the same number of tackles as Banfield, Switta and Schultz combined. Had 4 scoring shots which was pretty much half our score and had 184 metres gained which was nearly the same as O'Meara.
Banfield had 34 metres gained for the entire game which is almost the lowest of any Freo player to have played a full game all year.

I don't think it's worth discussing someone who's clearly getting dropped.
