I think some of the Worner hate is overblown. He as a player isn't the problem per se.

The issue is JL thought he was the guy to play wing Round 1 when we played 9 defenders. His position right now on the AFL site is midfielder coz of his Round 1 minutes. We played our least skilled medium defender in the most advanced position.

If JL rectifies that I think Worner can be serviceable. But if Worner's asked to do much more than defend and provide contest, that's an issue. Gotta put players in a position to succeed.

A few problems:

1. It's West Coast. Should be beating them regardless, and I'd hold any team with finals aspirations to that standard. Carlton did them last year with like 28 players fit.
2. You put yourself in a position where certain games are must-win by losing. If we beat Sydney, I could see half a case where losing to West Coast isn't quite panic stations.
3. Freo have been waxing lyrical about this tremendous depth we have. And have a Peel premiership to back that up to an extent. Time to back up the talk.

Especially when the opposition's list is older and more experienced on game day. Should we be winning this game, probably. Is a close loss excusable, yes. Is getting thrashed by the Eagles acceptable, no.

JOM has been our best player this year. There is no argument that he isn't b22.

When Young is back he'll be back on the wing and getting 15 touches a game.

As a wing he's not best 22.

Usually I pick someone who goes back to Peel and always performs ….. like you
