Think the whole “swing cox forward” relies on Ryan getting up, if he’s out injured I don’t think we mess with the backline anymore than Aish or Wagner in for Ryan.
Maybe O Mac in for Voss, or roll the dice on young Riddle as the second ruck.
Melbournes talls are not a threat. We’re almost better off taking one out. Ryan will be fine I’d almost guarantee it. If he’s not then just get Worner to play that role (hopefully at the level of his last two games) and bring in Wagner/Aish.

They’ve got Petty and Macdonald they can swing forward if we play silly buggers. They also have another guy I can’t remember who’s pretty big too.
Yep definitely.

But all of Pearce, Draper, Chapman and Ryan can take a tall forward if named.

From the team they last named they had Van Rooyen and Fritsch as marking targets and Petty played a small period up forward.

I would move Cox forward and then bring Wagner in and have Draper play tall with Worner covering. He’s been alright the past couple tbh.
I would keep Cox down back. They have limited talls and they dump kick everything into their front half. Cox will be able to sag off and take 20 marks. Send draper forward.

P.s. I'm perplexed by the suggestion that Voss should be suspended. Vlaustin tried to fend off and he was trying to get over the outstretched arm to wrap him up. Totally unintentional. Although, what we do know is fringe players get treated differently by umpires and tribunal so will probably cop a week. If any of the stars do this its not even being looked at!

Think JL just got to the point in the game where he wanted to bring Dudley in but had to find someone to take out.

You either pick the worst player on the day (if they're a tall that's more likely) or choose to manage someone. If the game had been on the line JL probably chooses the former but he chose the latter and the guy who was on light duties all week was probably always likely.

It was just management because we were in the situation we could manage players during a game. Ryan will be fine.

Also think you just give Omac a game as a forward rather than messing with the defence. If he doesn't ruck then that's okay.

Wasn't too surprised with Dudley as sub tbh. Young on limited minutes (and forward time) and NOD with Banfield required for wing time. Banfield was the other option. If Reid is tiring perhaps he's the sub for a week.

Don’t make Reid sub when he’s playing in front of family and friends this week, he can start sub the week after against the Crows in Perth.

Never understood the thinking around a debutant shouldn't be sub. Don't understand this logic either. Reid will be back in Melbourne to play footy so many times.

If the club believes we'll get more from him in the Adelaide game by making him sub this week then that should take priority.

If you want to keep Dudley in the side this is the only option IMO. Banfield's wing minutes are needed.

I think Reid will play better this week at the G than he did in the Barossa game, that’s all I am saying. If they think he needs a rest after that, then rest him.
FWIW, I thought Switta should have been sub on the weekend as 3 players coming back from injury was probably too many, not because I though Dudley should play in from of friends, given how Switta played, I think that’s a justified argument.

Amiss is concerning from a talent POV but we are not going to be better with him out of the side even on current output. He needs to win more contests but he's working his arse off to create space for Treacy and give him 1v1s.

Not sure why we need to maintain our height. Duds for Voss and maybe Aish or Ras to Sub.

This is a game where IMO the more goal-kicking small forwards we have (i.e. not Swit), the more goals we will get. I think Duds, Bolts, Freddie could have a field day. Think Melbourne have already mentally called it for the year.

I know Melbourne have been putrid, but of course we are going to run into them the week after all the heat from the Melbourne media is directed their way, and we are off a 6 day break playing in the heat.
Up until this week Melbourne have avoided it and it's all been sent Calrton's way, but these blokes are absolutely in the gun and they want blood... kinda feel a bit of a banana skin coming.

Or, we'll flog them by 90 points like last year.
