Have posted in autopsy threads re the indicators that suggest our ability to repeat sprint, run defensively and run a required amount of distance (comparative to opposition) all appear to be red flags.

Looking more broadly, we sit around 9th to 14th on most general football metrics. ie right where we are. Not sure why we were getting such a media tyre pump tbh, indicators currently point to us being also rans.

Surprisingly our kicking and goal efficiency % are pretty good, I'd argue the eye test suggests otherwise.

On average we require 3-4 extra possessions to generate a shot at goal or a goal over Sydney or Melbourne.

Conversely Richmond need 7-8 more possessions than us per goal.

Couple of things that bore out our defensive issues:

16th for 1%ers - I take subjective stats with a grain of salt though

18th ie bottom of league for intercepts

C'mon, he didn't make a mistake all game. Some would say he had little impact, but he had the same number of tackles as Bull, Duurs and Blamires.

We simply can not create turnovers through reading of the play.

Ours come from opposition BFU’s.

Stats have their place, but gee they can be misleading.

Of course.

It's not something I typically look at but if you can draw a strong correlation between certain metrics and good vs bad sides it does give another way of looking at things.

Any subjective stat is caveated as mentioned while GPS is a bit more immediately useful.

Where it gets silly is when people fall in love with stats in and of themselves. Or to justify praising or condemning certain players to support their bias.
