out Hartlett Gray Trengove krakouer White Cornes

In young Moore ahchee Stewart palmer Neade

Broadbent needs a run or two at the magpies, Hartlett to star for the pies v Glenelg 80 touches in the middle, find some form.

Would consider bringing in Austin as well plus dropping one or two more from the power side that wouldn't be a popular call here....

Some of the calls here seem to be "replace the Power side with the Maggies". Bring in Austin, Palmer, Harvey? Hopefully these calls were jokes. We are talking about players who would be making their debuts and would be unlikely to have more than 10 touches between them. There are players who we want to bring in to this side and players who should go out but we still need to keep a core of an AFL side. I'd bring back Broadbent, dropping him was a mistake. He certainly wasn't playing his best but not as bad as some. And with Trengove injured a defender will be required. Hombsch can take Trengove's place and Broadbent Hombsch's. And Young, his dropping was as close as coinciding with our slide as any. Why did it happen, he played 2 good games and 2 passable games. I feel there is a "first cab off the rank" mentality applied to selection on occasion. Ah Chee should get a full game and Moore has had enough time back in the SANFL to provide that grunt we need. Well, possibly not but with the injury to Polec he should come back as soon as possible. Jake Neade has played a few good games in the SANFL and scored a few goals and a small feisty little forward like him is what we need.

If any other player needs to be considered then Kane Mitchell would have to get the nod over Sam Gray, upgrading him was an experiment better not mentioned again. He seemed totally overawed even when the ball was passed to him on his own. He had a chance to mark and score the first goal of the game but fumbled it for Richmond to get it to their end and take the momentum we had till that point.

OUT: Cornes, Trengove, S Gray, Krakouer

IN: AhChee, Clurey, Neade, Broadbent

If they run with a forward line of Hogan, Pedersen, Fitzpatrick, with Watts hanging around and Vandenberg as well then I think we do need another tall defender this week. Clurey just ahead of Austin for mine. Broady will come back in if Krak is out with injury. Neade gets another chance. AhChee to replace Cornes.

That way we have Carlile go to Hogan. Hombsch go to Pedersen. Clurey goes to Fitzpatrick/Watts/Howe when they are forward and then Jonas can take Vandenberg. Impey on Garlett. Pittard on Toumpas.

Trengove out for 6 - didn't we fall apart last year when he was out......
we haven't exactly been together so far this year with him in. regardless, big loss. i think last season without him was more coincidental, as our defence was decent in all of those games.

Ken on 5AA just said Ah Chee has a knee injury and may not come up so all but ruled him out of a call up

I'm with REH on this -the Hoff to CHB. Hoff is generally an excellent mark and reads the play well but please no more kicks across goal let alone crap kicks:mad:

Not the time to be experimenting with future maybes.

We also have Bobby with " back spasms" ie. carrying something. Clurey for Jacko, Jonas in by default and don't think it would be a bad call to even let Austin have a run as sub. Lobbe out.
Sam Gray out for Neade.
Hoon for Cornes.

Changing my opinion in light of Arch's injury and Kraks rumoured injury.

IN: Broadbent, Clurey, Stewart, Moore, A.Young(sub)
OUT: Kornes(retired), Trengove(ankle), Krakouer(foot), White(rested), S.Gray(dropped)

Couldn't agree more with these changes. Also I'd be close to dropping Lobbe as well.

He is playing terribly, I hope someone tells him to play the ball instead of passively playing the man.

I along with most people I have talked to would be puzzled if Broady comes back in..Dropped for lack of form it is hard to see where he gets his good form return from...This has been the real quandary of selections this year..How O Shae got picked a few weeks ago is stagering..management of Achee....and ignorance of real form when this is what they continue to espouse...The real issue is that we have tried to walk the line between development and winning AND ITS NOT WORKING...PICK THE PLAYERS THAT HAVE REAL FORM We have a window ..The big clubs like Hawks Freo Sydney would not and do not carry on like this

i like having westhoff as a permanent floating defender aka chad 2004. this frees up ryder in the forward line. Im still concerned about sarg though. he is way out of form.

Problem with Westhoff playing the Chad 2004 role is that it became obsolete in 2005. It just won't work.

I would play westey at ff, sarg at chf and paddy at chb. Sounds a bit crazy to some i'm sure but if we go in the same way this week Melboure will beat us.

OUT: Trengove (inj), Cornes (ret), S.Gray (omit)
IN: Broadbent, Moore, Stewart

Westhoff to play as an actual dedicated Centre Half Back on an opponent. See what he's got. The bloke can spoil and is deceptively strong. Settle him down a bit and give him a defined and clear role.

Moore to replace Cornes in the middle as a bigger bodied defensive midfielder. His job is to tackle anything that moves in a Blue and Red jumper.

Stewart to play on the forward flank, provide forwardline pressure and a marking target sprinting back to goal, similar to the role Gray tried to play.

Broadbent back to his role as a loose-ish back flanker, pushing up to the wing a bit more though.

More team oriented players which have a specific and defined purpose in other words. Port have too many players with freedom licenses. The only player that should have a freedom license should be Chad Wingard... and maybe Ryder IMO.

If Krak is out then we are a rebounding defender down. With O'Shea and Broadbent in need of form, that SANFL bye came at the wrong time just like at the start of the year, surely Stewart comes in to play this free floating defender /wingman role that he has played for the magies. If Krak gets up then Stewart comes in and Clurey plays SANFL.

The tough one is who to bring in for Cornes. Moore could do with another SANFL run, Young played well but has defensive issues, Ah Chee is out injured and Mitchell is a good runner but was dropped for form and hasn't had a chance to show any yet.

Out: Cornes, Trengrove, ?Krak, S.Gray
In: Moore, Clurey, Stewart, Neade

Sub: Amon
