id actually prefer Motlop for Bonner, get Mots to play a lock down role on a forward and us his pace to break a few lines,
He has kicked 9 goals in two weeks playing as a small forward. That is his role

Lycett, Howard, Drew, Motlop, Farrell, Woodcock all good, Billy was solid but Dixon was better in his AFL game.
Not only this, but we have Burton and Cox coming back into the fold at AFL and SANFL level respectively. We got some nice depth.

Well without doubt Motlop should be in for Sutcliffe. Mots although really unfairly maligned on this site, has kicked 9 in 2 weeks at SANFL level, that's an automatic selection.

S Gray for Butters is a maybe.
Lycett should replace Ryder.

Bonner might escape persecution after the weekends shocker as McKenzie is the only SANFL defender banging on the door.

going by the percentages is only half the story, you cant really use it as an acurate guide, half back flanks often have high efficiency because they are hitting up easy targets side ways, forwards often have the worse because they have a defender locking down on them, i think a better stat would be like they have in tennis, force errors and unforced errors

All defenders and ruck stats take with a grain of salt .

That's why I ran with mids only and discussion was prompted by SPP "butchering " ??????

I'm aware they're generally kicking under more pressure to forwards under pressure

DE in mid 60s regarded as ok by Champ Data

Yeo
Martin
Shuey
SPP
Dangerfield

All at @ 66% this season

A really good listen I'd recommend is Podcast Trends Mark McGowan . It often gets into stats discussions with experts who explain much .

RE: Motlop. He's just been in the wrong position. Should be a small forward, not a winger.

Just like how Sam Gray should be a forward flanker, not a tall forward target.

Players who are in the bottom 6 or 7 based on a combo of yesterday's performance, last few weeks and season in general. Likely replacements based on game at Alberton today and last few weeks and Ken's favourites if they are to be replace one of yesterday's 22. Bold are current injured. Butters, Burton and Ebert likely to be fit in next 2 or 3 weeks.

S Gray....... Motlop or Butters
Bonner...... Burton or Watts
Suttcliffe.... Ebert or Farrell
Sam PP...... Drew
Ladhams.... Lycett
Marshall..... Frampton
Westhoff.... Howard

Others who have played in 2019 but won't make it back in this year Garner, Johnson, Atley and Lienert make up the 36 players who have played a game in 2019.

I reckon we make 2 or 3 changes each week for the rest of the year to keep blokes on their toes.

We had almost 900 game experience over the swans. They were poor. We had 68 inside 50's to their 37 and at half time it was 34 to 23, second half was 34 to 14. So yeah it rained and it was windy but we should have won by about 12 to 14 goals. So there is plenty of room for improvement.

So no changes policy because we won is rubbish. Pick horses for courses.

With about 20 seconds left on the clock yesterday, Sutcliffe's stats read 5 disposals and 1 goal. They would've stayed that way if not for a late Jordan Dawson fu**up. He is absolutely not a 'lock'. Carn.
Happy to admit I'm no footy guru, but to me Sutcliffe's game was far more than his stats. I thought he was more effective than Sam Gray, and I'm a big Sam fan. I could cope with Cam staying in, but can see that Motlop or Farrell may have credentials in that role after today's win.

And his other disposal / goal was from a "play on advantage" where we'd have kicked a goal without him.

He's not the complete spud he was a few weeks ago in fact he's almost at his ceiling, and that ceiling is about 10 touches a goal or two and plenty of pressure.

Would rather Farrell, personally.

Can we play three ruckman in the one side. I recon we have three of the top 10 ruckman in the league at the moment on form. Unbelievable

Will be no change, lycett is extrenely stiff if he doesnt make the side. Hate to be a coach picking the side this week

I'm happy to bring Motlop in to play small forward under the current forward structure. He'd benefit from the proper structure around him as much as anyone, and he's a much more dangerous player than Sutcliffe.

If we don't bring Lycett in this week, we'll have a tough time against Goldstein and he'll come in next week anyway. The Ladhams/Ryder combo has worked, but it's worked against the 2 worst ruck divisions we've played against all year. I want Lycett in if we're going to play finals.

I'd love to sneak Howard in as a defender, but he's still playing as a forward at SANFL level. It's just staggeringly bad player management at the moment. He was in terrific form as a tall defender, and we've moved him out of position then dropped him on form. Ridiculous. We're going into a finals series with our best KPD contest killer playing KPF in the SANFL.

I'd very happily have Motlop and Butters in for both. Would be nice to have a forward line with some blokes who actually have decent skills for a change.

I think Cam sutcliff isnusing his body well with blocks, opening space etc.

I’d do Mots for Gray as small forward.

Lycett is a tough one

Need some consistency now. Id be avoiding changes where possible. Only change I can see justifiably being made is Butters/Motlop for Sutcliffe. Oh and Burton for Bonner when Burton's fit, but not for anyone else - hes not been that bad, Burton's just better.

Whole bunch of players are going to be unlucky based on Sanfl form but they're there for a reason.

I reckon you don't make 2 to 3 changes to team per week to keep guys on their toes

You pick best team for game regardless of anything or season comes to an end very soon .

It's nonsense .

Sutcliffe was very average maybe Motlop but SANFL is rubbish standard compared to AFL.

Farrell can't handle step up

Farrell can't handle step up
Farrell has the highest goal average per game at the club this season. He's also our 7th highest goal kicker after only playing 7 games.

He is a very damaging player when he gets the ball. Just needs time and he'll get more of it.

We've just played 2 pretty bad sides.

Essendon just got brained by another team outside the 8, and Sydney have lost 6 on the trot.

Don't get lulled into a false sense of security by comfortable wins in squash matches. Just the fact that we turned up and did our job in both of them is great but if we're going to actually do something in this finals series we need to pick players that can help us win, not just make up the numbers.

I hate the idea that you automatically go in unchanged if you win. Winning =/= ideal football. You can always get better.
