More to the point, we should be dropping Bock, not Stevens (though I wouldn't object to dropping both). Bock was worse and has been consistently poor all season (due to a lack of fitness). At least Stevens has played 3 good games this year - that's 3 more than Bock.

Bock had a good game against Hawthorn, sure Franklin kicked 3 but one was against Stevens so restricting Lance to two is a very good effort in a losing team. Stevens game against Geelong was not good! Who didn't play well against Essendon, they stink.

Isn't Petrenko out for the season? Ankle or something.

Petrenko out for season with broken foot, which is why Armstrong cannot be dropped, esp now that Johncock is suspended for one match.

You're both right, of course. I'm so out of the loop at the moment :o In that case, Armstrong stays in.

Never mind the fact that no matter what everyone here believes, Petrenko is seen by the club as a small forward-cum-midfielder - they do not see him as a defender. Never have, probably never will, despite having a quarter down back as a rebounding defender while the box tried to extract Johncock from the clutches of Beau Muston.

Schmidt covered for him earlier in the year, and probably will again, unless they bring Goodwin in and shift Doughty for another brief stint as a back pocket.

Stevens game against Geelong was not good!

Funny how that selective Stevens memory kicks into gear when convenient - most people, even the ones here, had him in the votes for the Geelong game.

I suppose that Stevens has still not played a good game this season either

No way will Armstrong stay in team he was terrible and really offers nothing in defence and Crows dropped him after 1 game earlier in season when he played better and there were even less options.
Schmidt will come in and maybe Young if Goody doesnt get up but I think they should bring back Davis even if does give us too many talls.
We had lots of weird match ups during game Sun. So what the

My team:

B: Stevens, Stevens, Stevens
HB: Doughty, Stevens, Doughty
C: Reilly, Reilly, Reilly
HF: Douglas, Douglas, Douglas
F: Burton, Burton, Stevens (versatility)
1R: Griffin (c), Symes, Symes
I/C: Griffin, Stevens, Symes, Symes

Emerg: Schmidt, Davis, Walker

my changes

Out
- Stiffy, suspended
- Armstrong, IMO he is not ready, skills are go however goes missing badly in the 1+1 contests, need players who have the contest to run hard at the contest
- Stevens, 2 good games does not make a season, needs to pay the price for a poor year

In
Davis, I know that his sanfl form was not good last week, however his AFL form did not warrant him being dropped
Goody, hopefully he will be fit
Jack Gunstan, IMO the next Robert Murphy of the comp, can play HB, Wing or HF

Not Considered
- Martin, Knights - need more footy in the sanfl
- SMACK, Sellar - have not done enough at sanfl level to warrant selection

STEVENS OUT, DAVIS IN! I wouldn't be happier :)

either one of these 2 also.
1. Schmidt in for Johncock for the one week suspension
or
2. Symes or Goody if fit, move back into Johncocks position and bring in another midfielder such as knights or a rookie in Matty Wright whom they should upgrade.

Stevens couldnt fight his way out of a wet paper bag, and cant kick... id even be happy if Henderson went back into his position and bring in a gunston or knights up forward...... anything to get Stevens out of the team.

It doesnt matter that Petrenko is injured, there are no vacancies in the forward line for him :D

Meanwhile Porps plays as a defender too

With Johncock out, our defence will be as slow as ......
then again, pace doesnt matter someone said, its the speed of ball movement or some such crap

No chance of Porps getting sent back to the SANFL then.. :( Or Armstrong for that matter. :o

Probably just the one change:
OUT: Johncock (susp)
IN: ???

I'm hoping for Young, but it could be Gunston or Schmidt. It's a real chook raffle.

I'd like (but don't expect) to see:
OUT: Bock (or Stevens)
IN: Davis

Unfortunately, Davis' poor performance for North has turned his (non-)selection into an easy decision. Pity really, because the other two were so bad that he may well have forced his way straight back into the team with a good game in the SANFL.

Why do people continually refer to gunston as the next "robert murphy"? I think Murphy is an average player and I dont get the comparison. In the last 5 years, Murphy has hardly been durable, is about 5 cms shorter, averaged less than a goal a game playing as a forward in the last 2 years in a team that has been reletively high scoring and has recieved 8 brownlow votes total from 2007 - 2009. I hope he turns out nothing like Murphy.

There is nothing I hate more than these daft comparisons.

VB the next Bickley
Danger the next Roo
Jaensch the next Porps
Sloane the next Kane Johnson etc etc etc.

Why do we insist on making these imaginary comparisons.

That just makes his non selection an even bigger farce. Hes in consistent form in the AFL gets dropped back to SANFL and doesnt play well enough to earn reselection.

Is Neil Craig Irish???

How does this make it a bigger farce? Players have always been expected to perform well in the SANFL if they want to be selected in the senior team the following week. Davis failed to do so.

The only reason Davis' non-selection against Port was a farce is because his direct replacement (Bock) stank it up so badly. His non-selection against Richmond is a no-brainer, given his failure to go back to North and put in a performance demanding his reinstatement to the Crows team.

With Stevens & Bock both having failed badly against Port, there was a reasonable chance that one of them may have been dropped this week - if there was a suitable replacement waiting in the SANFL. By having had a bad game for North, Davis ruled himself out as that "suitable replacement". End result: Stevens & Bock get a free hit at the selection table this week.

Surely with Stiffy out, Davis is a given?

Why?

That would be a structural change from small to tall, and we're already a little tall for a Richmond forward line that has nothing but Riewoldt and a couple of guys around 6ft and lower. Their second "KPF" of recent games has been 184cm Andrew Collins.
