Have a feeling Sheed won't get up. Based on ... nothing I guess.

In: Naitanui, McGovern, Jetta, Partington
Out: None yet

B: Sheppard, Barrass, Hurn
HB: Jetta, McGovern, Duggan
C: Cripps, Gaff, Masten
HF: Waterman, Darling, Rioli
F: LeCras, Kennedy, Lycett
R: Naitanui, Yeo, Redden
I: Cole, Hutchings, Ah Chee, Ainsworth, McInnes, Schofield, Nelson, Partington

Last four to miss out when the squad is trimmed tomorrow. Nelson to be held over.

The team is looking stronger and having more depth every week.
Will be scary when Shuey, Venables and Ryan are up and running.

sheed, jetta, ahchee, waterman and one of nelson/schofield.
if sheed not fit = ainsworth.
why would mutimer be a walk up start without being carried as a prior emergency?

Weird to omit McInnes at this stage for Mutimer when they can just do a simple four in today and four out tomorrow.

EDIT: I guess the emergencies must come from the extended bench so that makes sense.

Plus nobody thought McInnes was going to get another run when Naitanui came back.

The team announcement says Mutimer selected off good form in the wafl and is a big bodied mid. From reports on here his form has been average and he is playing defence for EP. Bit of a bizarro pick that one. Maybe its a subtle message to other guys pushing for selection.

Because there are now 4 emergencies per game instead of 3

Which just leads to further questions - why did they increase the emergency list? Not that it's bad or anything, in fact I believe you should have unlimited emergencies and do whatever you want to back up for your first 22 for the game.

AFL trying to crack down on late change shenanigans, I thought - they added an extra player to the extended interchange / emg list, but also added further restrictions about making changes to the listed players after naming them.

Can't find the info on it anymore, and of course the AFL website hasn't updated their regulations doc since 2017.

Probably all just to appease betting agencies :rainbow:

Yeah exactly that. If a coach wants to play mind games with selected sides that should be their prerogative but the gambling companies won't like that.

Mutimer's been moved into defence now, so not really the same position. I guess they want coverage in case one of our small defenders doesn't get up which is pretty important this week against Richmond's mosquito fleet.

Would say that this looks worse for Watson than Parto tbh.

Club thinks he is a midfielder
Mutimer has been rewarded for a solid body of work with East Perth and has good claims as a strong-bodied midfielder.

yeh, I'm confused, theres 8 on emergencies with 3 to be omitted, leaving 5 right? - basic maths I know, but why some here still got 4 left on the bench, did i miss something?
..and would they bring Mutimer straight in without being named before..horses for courses?

8 man bench named, tomorrow afternoon 4 will be selected on the bench, with the other 4 as emergencies.

Then 90 minutes before the bounce teams are finalised - this is when an emergency may replace a named first 22 player.
