This is my view against the cats and won't happen but
ziebell,Hansen,pederson in
Cunnington,hmac, Anthony out
Cunnington just not ready to play at the cats intensity
Hmac, we need a mobile forward line
Anthony played very well on Sunday but is a front runner and will get smashed against the cats.

Scarlett out and you want to take away the extra big man forward ???

We need Anthony to play, he is one of our only midfield types that can really spread hard! In saying that he needs to improve his kicking and decision making...

For me those 3 all play. Campbell makes way for Ziebell. Hansen definitely in if fit and pedo is a possibility.

Wouldn't drop Delaney, thought is was solid enough. He to me seems the rangy type we need running off HB.

He'll be giving up 16 kgs to Pods and 15 kgs to Hawkins.

He's also much better suited to CHB, and whoever he goes to would take him straight back to the goal square.

He's just not ready for that yet.

I think Scotty T could keep Pods honest, but I would be going with Lachie or Car Keys on Hawkins.

Hansen to play on Hawkins and back himself. Delaney out
Jack to come in for Flash or L.T if injuried.

Resting ruck to start in the square otherwise they will get run off all game.

We need win contested ball and play one on one.
Play a loose man back and I will spew.

It was wet today but having franklin, roughhead and hale didnt expose the cats defenders today. If we go in top heavy they will just run of us. hmac, petrie and edwards aren't as mobile as the hawks 3. I would leave Delaney in the team, yes he's light but he's quick for his height and has solid disposal.

I didn't watch much of the game but I would have thought the fact it was wet was why they didn't expose the cats.

Lonergan will take Drew and then Taylor will have to take the resting ruckman. we need a tall to match up on Mackie, to stop him playing thirdman up and make him accountable. At the same time, they need to make sure they stop his run. Either Hansen or Pedo will be needed to do this.

The wet didnt stop hawkins and pods taking grabs. lonergan - petrie, harry - pederson or hansen and mackie - edwards. Whoever doesn't play forward out of hansen or pederson stands hawkins.

Gotta make sure we break even in the midfield to make sure we are stopping the supply to the cats forwards, if the cats midfield have all the time in the world to get their delivery accross, then it won't matter who we have on Pods and Hawkins. Thankfully Jack is Back.

Spot on ,for what its worth i would also like to see car keys get a run. Need the bigger bods against the cats.

Some of the dribble on this forum is becoming close to unbearable, did anyone watch the game on the weekend? - McIntosh wont be dropped, he kicked 3 and was far more influential both in the ruck and around the ground than Goldstein. Cunnington was also far from out worst and in fact in the second half was one of our best

Anyway, my thought after re-watching the game were that we'll struggle to drop players after that, but Ziebell and Hansen are clearly ready to re-enter the fold, and Pederson is pretty stiff to be missing out.

I thought both CDelaney and MacMillan looked better the second time I watched the game, MacMillan especially is a key driver behind improving our HB run along with Atley and Harvey.

Ziebell for Cambell looks the obvious one, Campbell went missing far too often, although it may depend on Thomas' fitness. Hard to make room for Delaney, only thoughts are we may need a bigger body in LDelaney or Hansen for Geelong.

Out: Campbell/Thomas (fitness pending), CDelaney
In: Ziebell, Hansen

Hansen to take Hawkins, Thompson to take Podsiadly and we need to exercise either Goldstein or Firrito into taking the 40m out space in front of Pods' leads.

When we last played them at Etihad (2008?), Geelong were in form, Ablett was on fire, the umpires had the hoops on underneath and we were under Laidley with a side that included Urqhuart FFS. Yet they struggled over the line with an 11 point win.

They can't play the Dome, evident by Brad Scott's first pre season where we ran over a full strength Geelong team.

Norf by 25+, Jack to kill Selwood, quite literally.

If it were possible, I would have loved Micky Martyn playing on Tommy Hawk(yeah yeah with 93-96 rules applying)..........someone build a time machine.

I'd be watching Mick in the opposition goal square more than the actual play.
I'll never forget the day when he and Plugger went toe to toe down at moorabbin.
Come to think of it, wasn't the tommahawk meant to be the next Plugger? ;)

About my thoughts, too.

Yes, that would be the last 45 minutes of the match when GWS had completely run out of petrol and it looked like a TAC Cup training session. Cunnington was too slow for GWS in the first 55 minutes ffs. Just take a look at him getting caught with the ball in the first quarter if you want to see what he will dish up for the next 19 weeks. He can't make decisions in a hurry and he cant run at anything faster than Greg Williams speed.

Definitely agree.

I rewatched the game last night and Cunners will not and should not be dropped. He wasnt outstanding in the first half but still picked up a lot of possessions and hit targets either by hand or foot. He plays a different role to Basti and Anthony so wasnt streaming though each time but was always in the pack head first. I dont think there is any chance he will be dropped.

If Thomas is actually injured (didnt see any footage of him getting hurt) then he must be dropped and on that reason alone I would keep Campbell else he would be on thin ice.

Delaney is very impressive and I have no doubt he will play many games in the future but for next week I would swap him out for Hansen.

Therefore I think:

In: Hansen, Ziebell
Out: Thomas (inj) Delaney.

That was a great game. as i recall we went in undermanned. it took Ablett to have a then career high 40 possesions and Mooney to kick a career high 7 goals for them to win.

This weeks game should, at the very least, be closer than all our games against the cats since this 08 game.
