How is Thommo's defensive game?

He doesn't have one ......but you can't play two midfielders who can't defend .....and whilst it may be on the wish list, the Crows will not drop Thommo

They're not my thoughts ......just how the club will handle their 300 game player

140 points is a once every couple of years type win. Not a par for anyone no matter how bad the club. Setting yourself up for disppointment.
Scorpus is used to disappointments ......he's never correct with his judgements (if you call them that?)

Can't afford passengers in finals Mackay always contributes regardless what the mob say, he isn't dominant but as for Atkins he may aswell have stayed in the change rooms today

Always contributes?

Bullshit.

His last TWELVE games last year were pathetic - and his finals series was a disgrace.

Decent in the first final - shithouse in the next two.

I'm not sold on Seedsman, but at least he nots proven to be shithouse in finals.

Then why post him that you have Mackay as an out, if you don't believe it?

I agree Hampton and Menzel are potential players to play the wing role ......but ATS Atkins hasn't the consistency (he's worse than Mackay in that respect) , and Seedsman i put on a par with Mackay ......it's just that Seedsman hasn't the Crows bias from supporters YET?
Atkins had 26 , Mackay 24 Seedsman 23.

Not sure what that really says to be honest. Douglas 17 Lynch 18 Lyons 21. ( not including defenders)

Its odd as I knew Mackay had touch. Atkins got some in the last. Seedsman apart from his 2 goals looked invisible at times. Yet I also thought Lyons and Lynch were more visible. (shrug)

Can.. and probably will be (ignored). CEY doesn't even appear to be on the selectors' radar. I think they've made up their mind about him, and have no intentions of playing him unless absolutely forced to do so. Given that the only injury (touch wood) coming out of this game was Jacobs' ankle, and ROB is his ready-made replacement, I think it's highly unlikely that CEY will be selected next week.
Just can't see Thommo and CEY playing in the same team this year ......expect Thommo to be retired at years end, which may open the door for CEY

Think there was more than one loose Essndon player in defense in the last qtr .......love clubs who pay a player $700K a year to play loose man in defense ......Goddard has had the easiest AFL life ever ......never had a one on one contest ...and gets paid a fortune to not have an opponent most weeks ......great leadership & money well spent Essendon

He was so shit; I was sitting on the Eastern fifty, Church side - he was playing loose, but constantly nowhere near the contest, and making no effort to get to it.

Douglas should be under the gun as well.

Another mediocre game - not good enough for a player of his talent and experience.

They are the worst team in the worst form missing tons of players, with the worst game plan, playing away from home against the most powerful attack.

140 points is a 35 point gain per quarter. That's six unanswered goals per quarter. Should be achievable if we play four quarters

140 is a bit over the top. Par for this game, even with Jacobs injured, was 100pts. We would have won by 120+ if they'd maintained the intensity they showed in the 3rd quarter. The players got lazy and complacent, and we fell 3 goals short of par as a result.

Mackay last in, first out.
Not sure he was last in. Suspect that honour went to Seedsman.

Both Seedsman and Atkins were significantly worse than Mackay today, so it's fairly unlikely that Mackay will be dropped next week.

Atkins won't get dropped and Seeds adds more than MacKay.

Seeds was superior to MacKay tonight and his first half of the season was better as well.

Seeds stays in. Mackay goes out.

To be clear, the 140 point par score is for the Brisbane match.

The par for the Essendon match was probably around 100

What this tells me .....and i'm a huge Atkins fan is :
Atkins: 7 Kicks and 19 handballs .....i'd suggest his meterage gained was very poor
From Fan Footy ...= Muppet (Kermit). This player has just done something unbelievably stupid, and turned into a muppet........Atkins had a team high 7 muppets

Mackay: 11 kicks and 13 handballs .....much more meterage gained & only 3 muppets

Both players need to be kicking the ball, particularly Atkins ......left foot & why he's in the side .....sadly todays form has extended a few weeks

Sauce gets a rest surely. Other than that I really can't see any unforced changes although I'd give Thommo a week off.

Will be interesting to see if Tex comes in and if so who for ?? Surely we can't risk JJ rucking all game so ROB will come in after giving Lobbe a bath.

Pyke mentioned Sauce might get up for the Brisbane game.

About time you put your money where your mouth is ......PM and we'll arrange .....you won't, just a lot of hot air again

Yeah.. got that eventually. Message showed up while I was viewing an earlier page - you know the way it works, you reply and it shows all of the other new posts since you initially loaded the page. The Brisbane context was clear when I finally got to the post, in its proper context. Not so clear originally.

Seedsman was good tonight, he was not worse than Mackay. Mackay wasn't absolutely horrible either, though. However, last man in, first man out (because of Walker)

Ummmm, so I'm not allowed an opinion Wayne?
Of course but back it up if you truly believe what you're posting ......time to ante up

Even if selection is based on the LIFO principle, which it may well be, I'm fairly sure that the last man in was Seedsman - not Mackay.

Is that a bF made up rule last in first out? That is hilarious, imagine if afl clubs adopted that policy I would piss my pants

I thought Atkins made a bunch of errors too and his high possession count was probably due to a few handball-chains that he had 2-3 possessions in (that ended with him losing the ball). But I'd be surprised if he made more errors than turnovers due to Laird* hitting max-power handballs that bounce off a player 10cm away.

*Laird had an otherwise excellent game.
