"Decent" games aren't good enough. He should be tearing it apart in the SANFL before he comes back into the side.

I watched him live at The Parade and he got a lot of it but wasn't damaging at all. From all reports, he only got involved late in the game last week when it was done and dusted. Hardly knocking down the door for selection.

We have all been so critical of Ken for selecting names over form in the past, so Amon more than deserves his spot back in the team over Mots.

Mots is capable of so much more than what he's showing.

A couple of years back (2017 finals series maybe?), he was absolutely BOG for Geelong in their finals losses and looked a class above. Looked like the only one of their players having a genuine red hot crack, which is weird coming from him. Why can't we get the Motlop who plays like that every week?

I'd say we knew what we were getting into with Mots.

Can look like a top 10 player in the comp on his day, but doesn't do it anywhere near enough.

Seems like he will always be one of those inconsistent players.

Until he puts together a good decent block of consistent performances i'm not really prepared to gush over the inclusion of Amon.

He had a couple solid JLT games + Round 1 and then got injured and suddenly he has gone from the delist/garbage pile to a very handy inclusion.

He was never as bad as he was made out to be last year but at the same token the jury is still out for me on whether he has actually become a legitimate best 22 AFL player.

he's not best 22 though. he's replacing an injured Robbie who is definitely bets 22.

Amon is gooooood depth.

Amon was a platinum pass holder and I’ve (among many ) have potted him but his JLT form and first game was excellent not unhappy about this at all

Which is a funny feeling on a Thursday and when talking about Amon but the lads done well !

The clear right choice given the options available. Motlop will clearly come back relatively soon, but he should be demanding it through strong SANFL performances that are a class above. First time I can recall Ken picking the lesser known player in better, more consistent form, rather than the big name who was recently dropped on reputation alone. And credit to Amon, as I doubt anyone would have predicted he'd not only earn a spot in Round 1, but then get injured in Round 2, and then earn his spot back a few weeks after getting fit again.

Presumably Motlop flies back (if not used) as soon as possible to play on Saturday?

Should have been Farrell.
Agree but Amon played well last week. Is there something going on with Faz we haven't heard.

Yet Geelong still put him on the table...... why?
Because imo they'd had enough of his half arsed efforts. Mots would have known this hence his efforts in the 2017 finals.
I said it at the time that Mots is auditioning for potential suitors. Once that was achieved he's reverted to type.
It's up to him to change his MO, hope he does but not confident he will unless he's shown the cliff's edge.
He's got the talent but seems to want to turn it on when he feels like it.

I guess that is fair to say. If this club is going to go anywhere, we need Amon to become a blue-chip player. The way he was playing before he injured himself is what we have been crying out for. The influence of Schoey was really starting to show on the young man and was definitely using his best attributes to great effect. That attribute was work-rate. He kept running hard for 4 quarters. There are limited seats on the Amon train. I suggest you get a seat right now while there's room

Best 22. Can kick and has endurance. Is a good outside player who uses his work-rate to get to contests, create an option and can make something happen with his kicking. Will be top 10 by the end of the year

Yeah I need a bigger body of work. Has looked ok at the beginning of the year. My main concern, is he going to become the sort of player that when it's his turn to go....,

I think it’s smart to bring in Amon for this game. We’ve seen pretty much every player struggle a lot in their first game at AFL level for 2019, the fact he played round 1 and a bit of 2 should mean he adjusts better than Frampton/Atley/Farrell would.

Geelong didn't put him on the table. He was a free agent

I feel a lot better with Amon in. When he and Watts was in our field kicking looked sooo much better. Losing the both of them took away a lot of our drive from defense because a good kick is as good as a quick player. Well done Karl. You've come a long way. If we didn't reward him he would have been a flight risk because other clubs will start seeing his good qualities.

Amon's two way running was quite damaging in the first game. He was able to burn opponents with his sheer work rate. One of the hardest runners at the club and looks like he is going to model his game on players like Travis Boak. Make no mistake. Amon is ahead of Motlop at this stage. Motlop is luxury while Amon is a work horse.

He lifts for big games though not the SANFL. Was the same here in the VFL when Geelong dropped him. He would of lifted. The sanfl is too slow.
