Hendo, maybe, not VB. Reilly takes those crucial, solid, contested marks often on the last line of defence. Sometimes you wonder how the hell the ball stuck in his hands. Hendo has the height, and is not a bad marker of the ball. Vb just isn't the right build I don't think.
Reilly hasn't been doing much of that this year though so we wouldn't lose that his aerial prowess that much ;)

I think any unforced changes are unlikely. Can't see Crouch coming back in, nobody is dominating the SANFL and nobody is screaming "drop me" who will realistically be dropped.

Two things I'd like them to consider:

1. Like others I'm concerned we will take the run out of Porps' legs by him constantly being made the sub. I'd prefer to see him either starting or back at Westies fora week or 2 so he can run out a full game.

2. Any possibility we bring back the "Freo specialist" Matty Wright? In our 2 minor round games v Freo last year he had career highs in goals (the first time) and possessions (the second).

I don't think VB was nearly as bad as some here are suggesting. Not his best game but not disgraceful either. Definitely nothing warranting a demotion.

The really poor players yesterday were Reilly and Jacobs. I doubt Reilly would be dropped on that game though, and we don't exactly have a natural replacement. He wouldn't want to be this far out of form when Shaw returns, though.

Jacobs is actually a possibility to go out, though I suspect the coaching panel will give him one last chance to avoid the humiliation of being replaced by Angus Graham, of all people.

I wouldn't be surprised if Crouch is asked to sit out another week, but I'd like to see him in personally. I'd swap him for Porps.

The day Sam Shaw is fit and replaces Reily fulltime in the team will be a day ive waited too long for. as good as reily was last year in his 3rd tall role, he is just so frustrating to have in the side and makes me panic way too much when he has the ball.

no change, although Mackay is one player I would have thought would be on thin ice. didn't appear to do much right yesterday and has had a poor season. Martin or Hendo would be the obvious replacements. Lyons and Kerridge keeping Crouch out of the side.

Mackay really?

I don't believe it! Carl I agree!!:D I saw bits of Angus Graham last weekend and I don't think he's anywhere near ready for a call up - dropped sitters in the goal-square.

Graham is a SPUD looks like Tarzan plays like RONALD McDONALD
I watched west v sturt on the W/End Graham is just a average player NOT AFL
I didn't think Crouch played that well then again would be playing with better players around him
Martin and Janesch played very well their names will Definitely come up at selection

Out;Porps

In Martin or Janesch

Porps was great yesterday when he came on, he was a key player in a few scoring efforts.
anyone think its time to give some rookies a rest or they will run out of steam? ie laird?

They can have a rest in 3 weeks.

Graham maybe a spud, but Jacobs has been a squid this year. We can't keep being thrashed in the middle. Our midfield are working their buts off to a loosing ruck and doing the impossible, but that can't continue! I said a couple of weeks ago give him one more chance. He was OK against the Saints, but time for us to look at someone else. Jacob's get out of jail free card has expired IMHO. Looking at Graham can't be any worse than playing Jacobs at the moment as Jacobs is that bad at the moment that Julia Gillards kids could stand up against him.

I'd rather go with McKernan and Jenkins than bring in Graham. Guy is a last ditch desperate, half our team is missing and we need bodies on the field type measure.

Honestly, even though I called for it, dropping Porps would be rough. He was very good in the last QTR, was involved in a few of those goals there (that pickup he did from that poor Dangerfield kick that lead to a Douglas goal was brilliant).

I will ask one Question
Why would Richmond move him on, and then Recruit a 30 year old in O.Stephenson

sorry mate he can't play AFL

David MacKay has really turned it around the past 2 or 3 weeks.

He will be very unlucky to get dropped.

That was my thinking. I really liked what he did yesterday. Was working very hard to get back deep in defence as well as get forward of the ball. Not high stats Im guessing, but there was certainly some quality touches yesterday.

Yep, but he doesn't (it would be nice) need to get it 30 times. That's not his role in the team or the best way he can contribute.

He plays wing or half back, getting 30 times isn't going to happen.

She doesn't have any!

Jacobs struggled against Goldstein last year too.

Stick with him this week as Freo have no decent rucks, so run him back into form.

Porps is the only one I would consider dropping for Martin (ahead of Hendo & Crouch), because if he is sub this week & bye following, he is going to be down on match fitness. Give him 2 games for Westies & get him back in.

Clarke's 3rd game, running into some solid form after a layoff with injury, being ably supported by Jack Hannath (who is pretty young and raw but is playing ok footy). Generally we lose the hitouts but Clarke offers quite a lot around the ground, is rangy and athletic. Will Jacobs be able to keep up with him around the ground?

If we want to go a bit smaller in defense, i think bring in jaench. He wasnt bad when he was dropped and i saw he got 30 odd touches on the weekend so obvs in good form
Or we could just go Otten sub

Id be tempted to say Smack, you get a crack. Jacobs either a week off or SANFL.

Who to bring in? Well.... LJ but he is injured. How about something out of the box? Rutten/Talia to rotate forward and one of Hartigan/L Thompson/CEY to come into the backline?

Or we could do the old Hendo up forward trick, would be a hard match up with Lynch roaming around too.

I would be tempted to allow Brodie smith the opportunity to place the looked created across half back bring crouch in and put him in the mid rotations

Apologies for the board intrusion.

Think it's more likely we'll get Hill back than Pav. It's not our midfield and defence, but our forward line that's the issue. Missing Pav and Walters is huge; our only tall option Silvagni hasn't been performing too well and might have an injury concern. I'm guessing you'll put Talia on Mayne; our forward effectiveness will rely on Ballantyne and Crozier's ability to break away in the forward 50 and kick goals.

Are you as pissed off as we are about the game time? Think this clash deserved at least a Sunday or Saturday night slot.

We'll be concerned about your midfielders kicking goals. If one of the clubs was Victorian it would've been a better timed game.
